There was also a treehouse involved, and more insight into the family’s dating – sorry, courting – process, which is always … something. Specifically, Joy-Anna Duggar and family friend Sierra were hard at work preparing a baby shower for another friend, Kristen Young. Kristen and her husband, Justin, run Tacos 4 Life – a favorite local hangout of Ben Seewald and Jessa Duggar, among other Duggars. Meanwhile, some other family members were in treehouse building mode, and in the case of John-David, waxing poetic about his future. “I’m in a position where I am somewhat financially independent,” Jana Duggar’s twin brother, a pilot and firefighter, beamed. “I’m making an income. I’ve got a place to live.” “Hopefully,” added the 26-year-old, “one day I’ll get married, have some kids of my own and build my own tree fort maybe.” John-David didn’t specify when, or with whom, of course, and the topic of Joy-Anna Duggar courting also came up on this episode. Josiah Duggar, whose own failed courtship with Marjorie Jackson made headlines, and Joseph Duggar weighed in on that subject. For anyone to get near Joy-Anna, “he’d almost have to be the perfect guy, and he would go through a lot of testing,” Joseph said. As anticipated, Jana opened up about being single on Jill & Jessa: Counting On Season 2 Episode 2 Tuesday night. What did she say? “Maybe, you know, I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff,” she mused when asked where she sees herself in five years. She’s in no hurry, however, for one simple reason. No, not because she’s controlled by her sisters : Jana has high standards and none of her potential courtship candidates have met them! “There have been different guys who’ve come along and asked … but they haven’t been the right one, and so it’s just one of those things.” “I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along,” she revealed. “I mean, sometimes it can be tempting, in those moments.” Jana noted that it can be tough when “your siblings that are married and have little ones are going out on dates and doing their things.” Still, the beautiful reality star insisted that instead of obsessing over getting married, she’s “being busy where God has me right now.” Where God has her – or Jim Bob, Michelle, Josh, Jessa and Jill order her – has been the topic of much debate among her fans. Back in November, Ronda Rousey lost her UFC bantamweight title to Holly Holm following a crushing defeat that left the reigning champ considerably worse for wear. After an emergency hospitalization, there were rumors that Rousey would require plastic surgery . When she appeared in public for the first time after the fight, Rousey covered her face from paparazzi, fueling rumors that the damage was even more severe than it initially looked. Though it was a kick to the neck that put Rousey down for the count, the 28-year-old – speaking publicly for the first time since her knockout – says the most significant damage she sustained was to her mouth. The stitches in her lip have yet to dissolve, and she’s still sporting several loose teeth. Rousey was her usual straightforward self when assessing the damage in a recent interview with ESPN magazine: “It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey said, when asked about her plans to return to the ring. While that may sound like a grim prognosis, Rousey made it clear in the interview that she’s down – but definitely not out. Though she admitted that she was “really f–king sad,” for weeks following the Holm match, she ways that her lip “looks awesome” after surgery, and assures fans that there will be a rematch. Holm was dominant in the first go-round, but we get the feeling that Rousey on the comeback trail will be a force to be reckoned with. “Maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done,” she said. “But f–k it, maybe I can.”
If you’re familiar with the lesser-known members of the 19 Kids and Counting clan, then you probably know that Jana Duggar is a fan favorite who always seems to get a raw deal from her own family. At 25, Jana lives at home with her parents at the so-called “Duggar compound” in Arkansas, where she helps to care for her younger siblings, as well as her nieces and nephews. As her younger sisters Jill and Jessa got married, moved out, and started families of their own, rumors began to circulate that Jana is the family “Cinderella,” forced to spend the rest of her life catering to the needs of her many, many brothers and sisters. It may be that Jana has chosen to stay at home and live a chaste life of servitude, but ever since the cancelation of 19 Kids and Counting , many fans have been more vocally concerned about bright, quiet young woman. The show served as a connection to the outside world and a sort of de facto career for Jana, who is now rarely seen by the public, and presumably spends the bulk of her days completing household chores. As she’s not involved in a courtship with a Duggar-approved young man, Jana is not even allowed to create a social media page of her own. Perhaps that’s why when the Duggars posted the above photo of Jana on their Facebook page last week, their social media followers leapt at the chance to encourage the girl to break out on her own. “College would look great on her,” wrote one commenter. “Jana is so beautiful and so ready to move out on her own and get married,” wrote another. There are several such comments on the thread, many of which have now received hundreds of likes. Yes, it seems the Duggar faithful are certainly eager to see Jana move out and start a life of her own. And we’re sure TLC wouldn’t mind, as based on the level of fan interest, we’re sure a Jana: Counting on Herself spinoff would be a ratings bonanza. Of course, rumors of Jana breaking away from her famous family seem to circulate every few weeks. Tabloids have had Jana courting Tim Tebow and moving to New York City to start a business. Obviously, all of the reports of Jana setting out on her own have proven false, and it’s important to bear in mind that Jana has never actually expressed a desire to distance herself from her family. But especially in the wake of everything we found out about her upbringing over the past year, it sure would be satisfying to see Jana buck the tradition and live life on her terms. The lovely Jana Duggar is back in the spotlight this week, and not just because she’s as maligned and put upon as ever, but because it’s her birthday. With that milestone came birthday wishes from her parents on the Duggar family Facebook page, and on that, they are accused of lying about Jana’s “job.” Jana and John David Duggar turned 25 on January 12, and the family took them out to dinner at Cracker Barrel and gave them both a nice shout out. The Duggar family posted the following about the twins’ birthday: “They both have a ministry heart and are great role models for young people. John just finished up his pilots license and is staying busy with construction and police work.” “Jana is a concert pianist and is involved in many ministries. We are so blessed to have such wonderful daughters and sons! Happy 25th Jana and John!” A concert pianist? Really, Jim Bob? The first sentence? One hundred percent true, even if the snobs hate on the Duggars . They’re all nice, well-meaning young people with kind hearts. The second sentence, pertaining to John David? More or less true, from what we know. Claiming Jana is a concert pianist is a bit of a stretch, however. Granted, who hasn’t embellished a resume at one point? Jana Marie Duggar Jana Marie Duggar is so beautiful … and put upon, supposedly, by a family that relies on her to help take care of the others but never have a life of her own. If that’s true, it’s sad. Is it time for her to break free? Jana’s got talents (and looks!) to spare. This is undeniable. If you watch 19 Kids and Counting online , you know Jana is a talented pianist, and has showed off her musical talents in church on more than a few occasions. Still, the claim is surprising coming from the Duggars, from whom the smallest of white lies would knock us over with a feather (a testament to their values). It also begs a couple of questions in our minds here: What ever happened to the midwife’s assistant career she was supposedly embarking on? Was that just code for Jana training to help pregnant Jill Duggar? Is the family deliberately trying to quell recent criticism that Jana is unfairly burdened with caring for her siblings and not allowed to live her own life? Of course, maybe the Duggar family boast was meant to do the opposite and give Jana the confidence boost she needs to break free and spread her wings. Dates Without Chaperones The Duggar parents often accompany their kids on dates in order to maintain “accountability” and “keep things from going in the wrong direction,” per Jim Bob. The girls are fine with this, as being alone with men puts them in grave “moral danger.” When the parents aren’t available, their older siblings will often tag along, making every date a group date and a family affair.
Earlier this week, Teresa Giudice resolved to eat fewer carbs in 2015.
