Felicity Huffman Begins Community Service, Rolls Through Beverly Hills In a Porsche

When F. Scott Fitzgerald famously uttered, “The rich are different from you and me,” Ernest Hemingway quipped, “Yes, they have more money.” Our response would have been equally dismissive, but a bit more peevish — something along the lines of “yeah, no sh-t, Scotty. When they get convicted of federal crimes, they spend less than two weeks behind bars, and they roll up to their cushy community service assignments in six-figure sports cars.” Take a look at the strange case of Felicity Huffman, for example. Back in March,  Huffman pled guilty to paying an SAT proctor in order to help her daughter cheat on the exam, thus ensuring the girl a place in the college of her choice. There were rumors that the judge was planning to throw the book at the actress, but in the end, Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in prison . Those who considered the punishment ridiculously lenient were even more incensed when Felicity was released 3 days early, serving just 11 days behind bars. Last week, Huffman was released from jail, and she promptly got all emotional, because that’s what she’s been doing at every stage of this process. And now, the second stage of her sentence begins. In keeping with the “slap on the wrist/white privilege” motif that’s thus far characterized Huffman’s jaunt through our criminal justice system, the actress must pay a $30,000 fine and serve 50 hours of community service. Earlier this week, she was spotted leaving The Teen Project, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth. It’s fitting, in a way, as kids from disadvantaged backgrounds are the ones who are less likely to be admitted to college because rich people insist on buying a place in the student body for their already-insanely-privileged kids. Apparently to pour salt in the woods of those who feel this was a grave miscarriage of justice, Huffman was reportedly chauffeured from the facility in her husband’s Porsche.  So has she learned anything from any of this? Almost certainly not, but she talked a good game throughout the sentencing process: “I’m sorry to you, judge. I am deeply sorry to the students, parents and colleges impacted by my actions,” the Emmy-winner said in court. “I am sorry to my daughters and my husband. I have betrayed them all. “I think this is the right sentence here,” U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani told Huffman at the time of her sentencing. “You can move forward and rebuild your life after this. Without this sentence, I think the community around you would ask why you got away with this.” Yeah, because we’re sure a harsher sentence would’ve made it impossible for the rich, famous actress to rebuild her life. During her pre-sentencing testimony, Huffman recalled the emotional turmoil she’s suffered as a result of her actions. “My mind keeps returning to the 30-minute drive to the testing center. I kept thinking, ‘Turn around,'”  Huffman says the worst part of the whole ordeal was when her daughter asked why she didn’t believe in her ability to get into college on her own: “I had no answer,” Huffman said. “I can only say I’m so sorry, Sophia. I was frightened, I was stupid, and I was so wrong. I am deeply ashamed of what I have done. I have done more damage than I could ever imagine. I realize now with my mothering that love and truth go hand in hand. I take full responsibility for my actions.” When an awkward conversation with a teen was the worst part of committing a federal crime, you know the sentence wasn’t harsh enough.

Teresa Giudice: My Marriage Depends on My Trip to Italy!

Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice have not seen each other in about three years and eight months. That sounds crazy, but it’s true. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star confirmed as much herself during her joint interview with her estranged husband late last month on Bravo. This will change in the near future, however, as Teresa is planning a trip to Italy with her four daughters some day soon. Why must they go to Italy just to see their husband/father? Because Joe recently completed a 41-month stint in prison due to his role in a bankruptcy scheme perpetrated by himself and Teresa. He was then ordered to be deported because he commited this crime without being a U.S. citizen… and was then released from ICE custody — as long as he returns to his native country — while he awaits a decision on his appeal. So that’s where Joe sits right now: waiting to learn about his legal future. And also about his marital future, as he and Teresa do NOT sound like a couple that thinks it will remain a couple for very much longer. During the aforementioned Bravo special, Teresa and Joe each opened up about the fate of their relationship. “I’ve been on my own now for three years and seven months and … we’re both two different people now and I don’t know. I’m not the same Teresa I was and I know he’s not the same Joe,” Teresa told Andy Cohen. Teresa added at the time of Joe: “I do love him as a person. I do. I still care about him. I love him. I don’t know how I’m going to feel when I see him. That’s why I’m so nervous when I see him. I love him. “He’s my husband. We have children together.” Those are facts. But it’s also true that Joe and Teresa both think the other had been unfaithful . That can’t bode well, can it? This all brings us back to the upcoming Italy trip. “When I go see him in Italy, we’ll figure that out,” Teresa said when asked where her relationship stands at the New Jersey Ultimate Women’s Expo on Sunday, November 3. Joe, meanwhile, seems aware that Teresa wants a divorce . “Listen, as long as she’s happy, that’s all that really matters,” he said to Cohen. “I’m not going to tell her what to do. If she doesn’t feel like she wants to be with me anymore, that’s the thing to do.” View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice vs. Joe Giudice: The Most Shocking Interview Reveals!

Joe Giudice Joins Instagram, Hangs Out with Teresa’s Dad in Italy

In the very near future, Joe Giudice probably won’t be an immediate member of his own family, not after he and Teresa file for their inevitable divorce. But the polarizing ex-reality star just joined a very different, much larger family: He’s now a member of Instagram. The 47-year-old — who was released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody on October 11 and flew to Italy while he awaits a verdict on his deportation appeal — joined the social media platform last Thursday, sharing a snapshot at the time of himself from his Bravo interview with Teresa and host Andy Cohen . Fast forward to November 3 and Joe posted another new and interesting photo to his account. As you can see above, Joe is hanging out with Teresa’s father, Giacinto Gorga, who resides with his daughter in New Jersey. “Always a full table,” he captioned the picture, which was taken in Sala Consilina. Joe is clearly taking a lot of pride in his appearance these days. As previously detailed, he lost a considerable amount of weight while behind bars , which is bound to happen when one is stuck eating only prison food and working out all the time. But while Joe may be in great condition at the moment, the same cannot be said of his marriage. Most fans are simply counting down the days at this point for Joe and Teresa to make their divorce announcement. The estranged husband and wife chatted via satellite with Cohen last Sunday night, detailing their relationship’s past, present and murky future. “My mistake was I never became a citizen. That was stupid of me,” Joe said at one point, taking some responsibility for the mess he’s now in legally. We also learned in this special that Joe and Teresa haven’t seen each other in three years and eight months. Wow, right? That’s crazy. When Cohen later asked Joe if he thought Teresa was faithful to him while he was behind bars, the former replied: “I don’t think she was.” And when the photos of Teresa and and a younger man from late last year were mentioned, Joe seemed surprised, saying: “I didn’t know you were on a beach with him,” to which Teresa replied: “I told you that,” insisting he was only a friend. Teresa, meanwhile, is set to fly to Italy in a few days with the couple’s four daughters, Gia, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10. In this same interview, she confessed that she wasn’t sure things will be between them when she sees him for the first time since he was in jail. “We’re both two different people now,” Teresa said in the interview. “I’m not the same Teresa I was and he’s not the same Joe. I do love him as a person. I don’t know how I’m going to feel when I see him.” For more from this back-and-forth, click down below: View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice vs. Joe Giudice: The Most Shocking Interview Reveals!

Joe Giudice to Teresa: Do NOT Come to Italy!

Well, it finally happened. After months of appealing his deportation ruling, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star  Joe Giudice has been shipped off to Italy . Insiders say Joe plans to continue fighting for his right to live in America, but from now on, he’ll be waging that battle from his new home in Naples. Joe doesn’t speak Italian, and doesn’t know anyone in Italy, so it won’t be easy for him to build a new life for himself in the country of his birth. Fortunately, he won’t be undertaking the task entirely on his own. Joe was met in Italy by his mother and brother, who set up a home for him in preparation for his arrival. Throughout the ordeal of his imprisonment and subsequent detainment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Joe repeatedly stated that the worst part was being separated from his four daughters. So he must have been overjoyed by the news that the girls will be visiting him in Naples. Gia announced the visit on Instagram over the weekend. The 18-year-old college student (above) posted this photo of Joe and his brother (below), along with a caption reading: “So happy your together right now.. enjoy see you in a few weeks daddy.” And it seems the girls won’t be making their transcontinental journey alone. Insiders say Teresa Giudice will be traveling to Italy  in the very near future – but it seems she’s not motivated purely by her love for Joe. According to a new report from Radar Online, Teresa will receive a massive bonus from Bravo for going to Naples and filming for TV. That’s right, she’s driven strongly by the appeal of the almighty dollar. Gotta reunite on The Real Housewives of New Jersey with Joe! The trip across the Atlantic has the potential to be intensely awkward for a number of reasons, if you stop and think about it. For starters, it’s been made clear that  Teresa still plans to divorce Joe  and has already been dating a much younger man named Blake Schreck. On top of that, it seems that both Joe and his family would prefer that Teresa simply stay home in the Garden State. “Joe’s mom and brother have told him that Teresa should not be allowed to see him in Italy,” one insider tells Radar. “They have talked to him about the cheating claims, and how she hasn’t respected him at all since he was locked up,” the insider adds. Apparently, Joe’s mother and brother basically held an anti-Teresa intervention, and it’s beginning to have the desired effect on Joe: “Joe’s mom and brother have hammered him on his terrible relationship with his wife,” the celebrity gossip site’s insider claims. “They do not like Teresa at all, and they don’t think she should come to Italy when she hardly ever went to prison to see him.” It’s hard to believe that Joe would still want Teresa to visit him overseas now that she’s got one foot out the door. Or both.  View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice: Filing For Divorce Once Joe Gets Deported?! She’s essentially confirmed that she was u8nfaithful during his time in prison and is now banging someone else. Kinda savage. Of course, it’s possible that the taping could mean big Bravo bucks for Joe, as well – and, well, from the way things sound … Guy could use all the help he can get these days. #justsayin

Joe Giudice Files Desperate Final Appeal: It’s the BANK’S Fault I Committed Fraud!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and no one is more desperate these days than reality-star-turned-inmate Joe Giudice. The husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, Joe was found guilty on fraud charges along with his wife back in 2015. At this point, the sentences have been served, but for Joe, the punishment might be just getting started. A citizen of Italy (Joe was born in the village of Saronno, but his family relocated to Jersey when he was just a year old.), Giudice is facing deportation for his crimes. Giudice says he knows nothing of Italy and doesn’t even speak the language. Furthermore, Teresa Giudice has no plans to join her husband overseas, so the move would likely have quite an impact on Joe’s marriage, as well as his relationship with his four daughters. We say all of this simply to explain why someone would fight tooth and nail to avoid being kicked out of New Jersey. Anyway, as we reported yesterday, Joe received an extension on his final appeal , which is huge, as he recently earned the support of a high-powered advocacy group called the Immigrant Rights Clinic of Washington Square Legal Services (IRC). With the IRC in his corner, Joe is trying a new tactic. Basically, this is that part of the legal drama where the underdog client meets the hot-shot lawyer who vows to put the system on trial. While Joe’s previous lawyers attempted to convince the court that he shouldn’t be kicked out of the country because he’s lived here for basically his entire life, his new legal team is arguing that he never should have been sent to prison in the first place, as he’s essentially a modern-day Robin Hood. Giudice’s lawyers now claim that Joe is not guilty of “aggravated felony” (the charge that serves as the basis for deportation) because he scammed Wells Fargo, a bank that previously issued loans in a way that “amounted to consumer fraud.” “Here the Petitioner will show that a bank legally compelled to forgive a fraudulently made loan should not be held to have suffered a loss from fraud,” Joe’s attorneys wrote in a brief filed earlier this week. Yes, Team Giudice is now arguing that this was essentially crook-on-crook crime, and Joe and Teresa never should have been imprisoned in the first place. “Proceedings were incorrectly instituted, and should have been terminated,” the lawyers say of the Giudices original criminal trial. Even if that swing for the fences doesn’t pay off, Joe might find himself receiving some much-needed mercy from the court. His lawyers are employing several strategies in their final push to keep him in the States, including reminding the judge that he’s spent the past several decades building a life in the Garden State. “He married his wife Teresa, a United States citizen, on October 23. 1999. The couple has four children, all born in the United States,” the papers stated. Aside from calling Bruce Springsteen, Tony Soprano, and Chris Christie as surprise character witnesses, we’re not sure what else Joe can do to conv View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice: Filing For Divorce Once Joe Gets Deported?! ince the judge he deserves to remain in Jersey.

Joe Giudice Is About to Be Deported: What’s Next For Teresa?!

The Giudice family has been playing the waiting game for over a year now with U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Joe Giudice’s deportation.  The husband of  Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice was released from prison after spending the last 41 months behind bars , according to Newsweek .  However, the father of four did not get a sweet return home.  Joe Giudice, a native Italian, was transferred directly into ICE custody upon his discharge from prison last Thursday, March 14. His brother-in-law, Joe Gorga, said Teresa has been having an extremely rough time with the reality of her husband’s very soon exile to Italy.  The husband of RHONJ star Melissa Gorga gave fans an update on his sister’s well-being in an interview with Us Weekly on Monday.  “It’s very, very hard. You see, she puts up a good, strong front. She has to,” Gorga said.  “She has to raise her children by herself, so she has to be strong. She can’t be weak,” he continued.  “You know, you see this tough girl [on the show] all the time but she’s weak.” Adding that Teresa has been trying to keep herself occupied despite her husband’s confusing and extended legality issues.  “She’s constantly going out because when she’s home, she has no one to hold,” Teresa’s brother explained.  “No one’s around. [Her] kids, they’re in activities and they want to be with their friends. You know, she’s a mess.” And while the outcome of Joe’s residency in America is not looking too promising, the family is still holding on to hope that Giudice’s deportation appeal will be approved by a judge.  If he’s sent back to his native country, Giudice’s daughters – Gia, 18, Gabriella, 14, Milania, 13, and 9-year-old Audriana Giudice – will likely just visit with their father during vacations.  Teresa Giudice has previously said she has no intention of moving to Italy should her husband be deported and has mentioned that she is “not doing a long-distance relationship” to  RHONJ season 9 reunion host Andy Cohen. “I want somebody with me every day,” she said. “I know exactly what happens.” “You know, I’m sure he’ll be with other women. It happens. We do the long-distance thing, it’s not going to work.” And although Teresa is legally still married to her husband and has yet to file for divorce, the 46-year-old was recently spotted in Florida with New Jersey realtor Blake Schreck back in February. The getaway, of course, sparked major buzz that Teresa has potentially already moved on .  Joe Giudice filed an appeal arguing against his deportation order back in November of 2018, just a month after Immigration Judge John Ellington delivered a ruling for the reality star to return to Italy upon completion of his prison sentence. Giudice has been serving jail time for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud that began in March 2016. His wife was also imprisoned for 11 months back in 2015 in connection to the crime, however, the couple was able to serve time consecutively so that one parent could be home for their children.  Joe Giudice has recently been released and according to his lawyer James Leonard he is “optimistic that once his appeal is heard, he will receive the appropriate relief and will be able to come home and remain there with his family.” However, he could remain in ICE custody for up to a year while he awaits the decision regarding his future. In the meantime, we will not be holding our breath, as this process has already gone on for far too long.  Instead, we are fully prepared to wave goodbye to Joe Giudice any day now!  View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice: My Husband Is Getting Deported & I’m Getting Rich!

Joe Giudice Is About to Be Deported: What’s Next For Teresa?!

Teresa Giudice: Yes, I Plan to Leave Joe!

Give Teresa Giudice points for honesty. And then take away all those points for a complete lack of love and loyalty. Over the past several weeks, we’ve been hearing non-stop rumblings that Teresa will file to divorce husband Joe after he is freed from prison in a couple weeks — and then deported back to Italy. We even reported on the rumor that she’s already met with a divorce lawyer . Now, however, it’s been made clear that all this talk is far closer to a reality than a rumor… according to Teresa herself. Speaking to Andy Cohen during the final part of The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion, Giudice was asked about this very personal topic and, to her credit we guess, answered very candidly. “I’m not doing a long distance relationship. I’m not doing it,” she told Cohen. “I want somebody with me every day.” Well, yes. We all want that. But Teresa and Joe conspired years ago to break the law when they lied about their assets while filing for bankruptcy. As a result, each served many months in prison; also as a result, a judge decreed this past October that Joe must return to Italy because he never formally became a U.S. citizen. Perhaps you should have thought this whole thing through before you defrauded the government, TG. “I know exactly what happens — I’m sure he’ll be with other women. It happens,” Teresa said, looking ahead to a future of her in America and Joe abroad. “You do the long-distance thing, it’s not going to work. I’d be like, ‘Bye bye.’” What an odd thing to say on multiple levels. First… you’re sure that your husband will be with other women because he lives far away? Doesn’t sound like the most stable relationship. Second… you could just move to Italy, too, you know that, right, Teresa? “Unless my kids say, ‘Mommy, we want to move to Italy,’ [we] are not going],” Teresa said of this option, explaining of her kids: “Gia’s going to college next year; I haven’t spoken to Milania or Audriana about it, we haven’t gotten there yet; and Gabriella already voiced her opinion to me. She was like, ‘That would be so hard for me, Mommy.’ “She doesn’t speak the language. She’s like, ‘That would kill me even more.’” Indeed, Joe and Teresa share four daughters: Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10. It’s easy to mock this couple because they’re spoiled and entitled and just suck a whole lot. But we do feel bad for their children. “It’s like starting a whole new life,” Teresa says of moving. “And they’ve been through so much already.” Teresa, meanwhile, is already looking ahead — both professionally and personally. She is allegedly lining up a Bravo spinoff that will focus on her life as a newly single mother. And she appears to be romantically involved with Blake Schreck , a realtor who is 20 years her junior. They were spotted holding hands and making out in Miami this winter. “There is no cheating, no divorce,” Teresa’s lawyer has said of this alleged affair, however. “End of story.” That tracks to us… except for the part where Teresa just said a divorce is almost definitely happening. Joe Giudice Deportation: Delayed Due to Government Shutdown?

While concerned fans wonder if Teresa Giudice has already filed for divorce , others hold out hope. Could this massive government shutdown buy him a little more time with his family? An immigration official has weighed in on this complicated situation. Take a look: The government shutdown has dragged on for over a month. It is a nightmare and, ultimately, one man in responsible for it. There are very few silver linings to hundreds of thousands of families having their incomes halved — or worse. But some had wondered if part of the backlog might mean a delay on Joe Giudice’s looming deportation. RadarOnline   reports that they spoke to an immigration official, who was the bearer of bad news on this front. Unfortunately, because Joe is a detainee, his appeals process will very likely proceeda s normal. A decision about his deportation status is expected to be made at some time prior to his release. Joe is scheduled for release from prison on March 14. That is in about a month and a half. No one questions whether a guilty party should serve time in prison. But many are horrified that Joe’s release date will take him farther from his family, rather than bring him home. The unnamed immigration official explained why not even the government shutdown is delaying Joe’s deportation. “In most cases,” the offical shares. “Appeal decisions have been delayed.” The official acknowledges: “and everything is on freeze until the government shutdown is over.” “However, in cases of detainees,” the official notes. “Things are still processing as normal because they are priority.” Our understanding of that statement is that current detainees are a priority because the process has already begun. Additionally, their deportation — or not, as the case may be — would relieve a burden on the system rather than add to it. This means that, before Joe is even released from prison in less than 50 days, his appeal will have been decided. Where does this leave him with his wife, Teresa? “She is talking about divorce, absolutely,” an insider tells RadarOnline . “There is no way Teresa is going to uproot her life,” the source explains. That is difficult but very understandable. “He did this,” the insider reasons. “Why should she suffer?” Joe was born in Italy, but his parents brought him to the United States when he was an infant. He has lived his entire life in the United States. It is the only home that he has ever known. Italy, to him, is his parents’ homeland, but not his. Additionally, his family is not emotionally prepared to see him deported to Italy. Though they have had months since the October 10 ruling that he would be deported, they are still struggling to accept this terrible reality. Joe and Teresa’s daughters in particular are desperate for hope that their father can avoid deportation. It is only natural for Teresa to plan to remain in the United States with her four children, no matter what. You don’t uproot the lives of four children on a whim. Despite Teresa’s reputation, there is nothing callous or easy for her about that choice. There is always a sliver of hope that Joe might somehow win his appeal. But … that is looking less and less likely as March 14 looms closer. View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice: Filing For Divorce Once Joe Gets Deported?!

Teresa Giudice REFUSES to Let Bravo Film Joe’s Deportation Appeal

As Joe Giudice faces almost certain deportation, Teresa has asked fans to pray for her family as they launch their desperate appeal. Teresa is still a Real Housewife, and Bravo is offering her a hefty payday if she’ll let their cameras film this tense process. Curiously, Teresa has said no. Perhaps she is not as icy as people seem to think. RadarOnline reports that Teresa Giudice passed on a sizable offer to film her family’s trials and tribulations as they appeal Joe’s deportation. Specifically, Bravo has reportedly offered Teresa $500,000 — a cool half million. But Teresa turned it down. “Teresa refused to film any special scenes,” the insider reveals. She is balking at this lucrative opportunity “because the attorney told her not to do anything until the final decision is made.” Her pleas for leniency might not go over well with a judge who learns that she’s exploiting the drama of it all for a payday. “She’s terrified to do anything to harm Joe,” the source explains. Joe’s imprisonment has been bad enough on his family, but that at least was understandable. His upcoming deportation to Italy is exacting a serious toll. “This situation is so bad for Teresa,” the insider says. The source adds: “She’s not talking about it at all.” “She’s afraid that anything she says can be used against Joe,” the insider laments. Being a public figure can really backfire when it comes to having your day in court. The report says that Milania recently visited her father in prison, but that Teresa was otherwise occupied at the time. “Milania has a close relationship with her dad,” the source says.  The insider says that she had to see him because “she’s been so upset by everything.” Of course! She’s a preteen and her father is her whole world. “Joe’s family was shocked that Teresa didn’t go with her daughter,” the source claims. The insider then takes a harsher tone when discussing Teresa. “Actions speak louder than words with Teresa,” the source says. “She tells everyone she is so devastated,” the insider continues. The source finds it odd that she asks for prayers “but then she doesn’t go visit him and doesn’t even go with Milania.” That seems unfair, especially considering that we know what Teresa was up to at the time. That source’s judgmental tone aside, Teresa has four daughters, not just one. We don’t know who went with Milania (it’s hard to imagine that a 12-year-old waltzed into the prison visiting area on her own). Teresa was out looking at universities with Gia, who just a few months away from turning 18. When people say that life goes on , they mean that Teresa’s first responsibility is as a parent, not as a grieving wife. She’s looking to Gia’s future. We are sure that Joe wouldn’t have it any other way. As for Teresa’s refusal to film, most of us can’t imagine turning down half a million dollars under most circumstances. But she has to be wondering how she would feel if the judge denies Joe’s appeal and mentions that she had turned it into a media circus. As we said, being a public figure can backfire. Courts like to set an example and no prosecutor or judge wants to be accused of going easy on someone just because they’re famous. From Dance Moms to Jersey Shore , stars of reality shows have learned that they can and will be put behind bars if they break the law. Teresa and Joe already learned that lesson the hard way. Now she’s just hoping and praying that being on their best behavior will keep Joe from being torn from his family forever. View Slideshow: Teresa Giudice: Filing For Divorce Once Joe Gets Deported?!
