Jonas Brothers Promise New Album By Year’s End

‘We’ve lived a lot of life,’ Kevin Jonas teases MTV News about what to expect on their first LP in three years. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News It’s been nearly three years since the Jonas Brothers released an album together. And a lot has happened for the trio, both personally and professionally, since they dropped 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times. Now, with all of that life experience under their belts, the guys are ready to hit the recording studio again. “In the next few weeks, we’re going to be going to New York and we’re gonna start writing for another project,” Joe told MTV News. The NYC trip probably has something to do with visiting little brother Nick, who is currently starring in Broadway’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” “It’s going to be, I think, our best record yet. I’m so excited.” The JoBros have been teasing fans for some time now about getting the band back together, and those plans seem to be coming to fruition. Kevin noted that they have a lot to say this time around. “We’ve lived a lot of life. … Joe and Nick have just released amazing projects and I’m so proud of them for that,” Kevin said. “They’ve had things in their hearts they wanted to put out there [and] now it’s going to be great. We’re all doing different things, living different parts of life and getting to experience it all together again. It’s going to be lots of fun.” As for when fans will get to hear the new album, Kevin promised it will drop “when it’s ready.” Joe, however, had a more definitive time frame for the highly anticipated release. “We want to be able to do things this year,” he said. “We have plans that nobody really knows about yet, performances that are already lined up and we have music already recorded too … our [aim] is probably close to the end of the year or next year.” Are you eager for new music from the Jonas Brothers? Joe Jonas: It’s ‘A Good Time’ To Release FastLife

Jonas Brother’s debut solo album dropped Tuesday. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Dave J Hogan/ Getty Images Joe Jonas is living the FastLife on his first-ever solo album, released Tuesday (October 11). The singer, now in his 20s, is no longer singing about the nuances of puppy love. Instead, he’s all grown up, singing about heartbreak and romantic turmoil. “It was scary in the beginning, just because I knew this is my one opportunity to show people my journal: the good and bad of every relationship I’ve been in, you know, [and] what I look for [in relationships],” he told MTV News . After launching onto the scene as one-third of the Jonas Brothers, he’s ready to show the world his pop&B side. Boasting production and writing credits from Rob Knox, Brian Kennedy, Danja and even Chris Brown, Jonas worked closely with his crew and helped co-write almost every song on the album. In the process, he managed to snag up enough of his own solo swagger to get Lil Wayne on the remix of his second single, “Just in Love.” “I feel like this is a good time in my life to be doing this solo project,” he explained. “I’m just ready to play music. I’ve been promoting a lot and hustling around all over America and Europe, talking about the album, and now I just get to play, and that’s my favorite thing to do.” The hustle to spread the gospel of FastLife has been happening for months now. After releasing two singles, “See No More” and “Just in Love,” he recently wrapped up a tour with Jay Sean and will open for Britney Spears in Europe later this month. Jonas said he loves to perform and touring has been a way to get his music out to the masses. That music shows a new side of the star musically. Instead of pop-rock, his songs are R&B and dance tracks reminiscent of fellas like Brown. “A song I’m most excited about right now is a song called ‘FastLife.’ Performing it live is so much fun,” Jonas explained. “Doing a lot of dancing and stuff, it’s cool for people to see; it’s a little bit different. It’s fun for me to be up there doing it. “I feel like it’s a fun dance song. A lot of people want to have fun listening to it and dancing to it,” he continued. “The song is just about pretty much living life to the fullest, enjoying life, going out with your friends and having fun.” Even as he releases the album, he’s always thinking about what else he can do. “I love to make music,” he said. “I’m always creating. It doesn’t stop that creating bug. It’s just something that I always do.” Share your thoughts on FastLife in the comments below!

Justin Bieber Urges Fans Not To Text And Drive

Pop star joins new campaign to encourage fans to download PhoneGuard app that locks smartphone when car is in motion. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic Justin Bieber likely spends way more time on private jets and international flights than behind the wheel of a car. But the teen pop sensation knows one thing about driving: You shouldn’t text when you’re behind the wheel. That’s why Bieber, 17, has signed on to a campaign urging his fans to lay off the smartphone while they drive as part of his ongoing anti-texting-while-driving campaign. “We need to change the attitudes in our society toward texting and driving and I am making it one of my personal goals to make this happen,” said Bieber in a statement released as part of his endorsement of PhoneGuard ‘s Drive Safe software, which disables the texting, email and keyboard functions of mobile phones while a car is in motion. “Every night we perform, we have a banner that goes up that says ‘Don’t Text and Drive’ so it really means a lot to me,” he said. Bieber has been pushing his fans to give up texting while driving since earlier this year when he made a surprise appearance on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to promote the efforts of Wellman, Texas’ Brown family, who have been raising awareness about the dangers of the practice since their daughter, Alex, was killed in a texting-while-driving incident. Bieber’s anti-texting campaign will provide some funds to the Remember Alex Brown Foundation charity. The singer joins a number of other major figures who’ve been working to get the word out about the dangerous practice, including the Jonas Brothers, who have been outspoken advocates with Allstate’s “X the Text” campaign. Others who’ve signed on for that effort include former “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks and “Camp Rock” star Meaghan Martin. “Glee” actress Jane Lynch has also filmed public service announcements, as her TV alter ego Sue Sylvester, on behalf of LG Mobile Phones to highlight the dangers of texting while driving. Among the biggest names to endorse the end of the practice is Oprah Winfrey, who has been asking her followers to take the No Phone Zone Pledge since 2009, in which more than 423,000 people to date have vowed not to text while behind the wheel.
