Joe Jonas Revisiting ‘Good And Bad’ Relationships On New Album

‘This is my one opportunity to show people my journal,’ the JoBro tells MTV News after his Paper mag concert in NYC. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News BROOKLYN, New York — Like his younger brother, Nick , before him, Joe Jonas is gearing up to release a solo album after achieving success as a group. Without Nick and older brother Kevin by his side, Joe says it was a bit overwhelming at first. But the 21-year-old, who will release Fast Life in September, eventually realized that he could count on the support of his fans, who would get to see a new side of him with this solo album. “It was scary in the beginning just because I knew this is my one opportunity to show people my journal: the good and bad of every relationship I’ve been in, you know, [and] what I look for [in relationships],” Joe told MTV News backstage on Wednesday at the Sounds Like Paper Concert at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, New York. The singer was celebrating his Paper magazine cover and performed four songs, including his Chris Brown-penned single “See No More.” He also talked about other inspirations for the album, including “being on tour with my brothers, being in a band.” Jonas says his approach was to “almost talk about the fans and my point of view and how I see them.” The songs on Joe’s upcoming album won’t sound like the ones that made the Jonas Brothers famous, he said. They’re unique to Joe, fusing his love of house music and mainstream pop&B instead of the pop/rock of a JoBros album. “It was really, really cool to have those experiences [from] all my life [and] to be able to write about it and on my own,” he explained. “And also on the music side, it was a fun process. It was almost an evolution process, because in the beginning it sounded nothing like it is now. It was totally different and very singer/songwriter, and I naturally love dance music and urban, hip-hop music, so I wanted to be able to make something new for them to hear.” Are you looking forward to Joe’s solo album? Joe Jonas Drops Solo Single ‘See No More’

Jonas co-wrote song, which appears on his upcoming solo LP, with Chris Brown. By James Dinh Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News In another tale of bandmate gone solo, Joe Jonas has officially begun the start of his solo music career with the release of his first single, “See No More.” After releasing an online video teaser for the Brian Kennedy-produced track last week, the solo JoBro took to Chicago radio station 96.3 FM on Friday morning (June 3) to premiere the tune. “It’s exciting, you know? I mean, having my brothers’ support in this whole project is the biggest thing for me and the fact that they’re loving the music and everything,” the singer told morning DJs J & Julian about his solo venture. “Being onstage by myself, you know? It will be different for sure. I know there’s going to be that little bit of jitters that I’ll have to get out of me that are just going to be there.” “See No More,” which Jonas co-wrote with Chris Brown, is the 21-year-old’s tale of a man dealing with a broken relationship. After unveiling some of his lover’s dirty laundry, Jonas admits that “heartache became my friend.” Atop a flickering Pop & B beat, the JoBro vocally plays his part by offering vulnerable falsettos and switching quickly to belting wails throughout the cut. “I don’t want to wait for you/ I don’t want to wake up thinking, hoping you’ll get it right this time/ ‘Cause you know that you so cold/ I don’t want to see no more,” he sings during the chorus, sounding a bit like Brown. “See No More” will be available for download on iTunes beginning June 13. With additional production credits by Danja and Rob Knox, Jonas’ solo album will follow months later when it hits stores on September 6. MTV News recently chatted with Jonas at Wango Tango, where the pop star gushed that he was “very excited” and “looking forward” to finally unveiling the brand-new tune. Despite Breezy’s writing contribution, Jonas said that he isn’t sure whether the pop star will appear in the upcoming clip, explaining, “Not sure if there’s plans for him to be in the video, but I think it’s always really cool to be able to write with other artists and work with them, especially someone as talented as Chris. So excited [for the release, though]. It’s a dream come true to have people listen to them for the first time.” What do you think of Joe’s solo single? Tell us in the comments! Demi Lovato to Leave Sonny With a Chance

Demi Lovato is leaving Sonny With a Chance, the show that’s made her a star on the Disney Channel. She’ll instead focus on her pop career – and recovery. Given the actress sought treatment recently for “physical and emotional issues,” and confessed to cutting herself since age 11 , a change might do her good. “It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music,” Lovato tells People . “It’s sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended .” “However, there couldn’t be a better time for me to move on.” The “nervous breakdown” she suffered last October while touring with the Jonas Brothers – an episode that led her to check into rehab is still fresh in her mind. “I don’t think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery,” admitted the 18-year-old actress. “Being in front of a camera would make me nervous.” In a frank interview with ABC’s Good Morning America and 20/20 set to air Friday, Lovato acknowledges a lifelong struggle with an eating disorder and cutting. Hopefully she continues to get the help she needs to live a happier and healthier life, and moving on from Sonny With a Chance is the best means to do so. [Photo: WENN.com]

Demi Lovato Tells Teens That ‘Love Is Louder’ Than Pressure

Star opens up about eating disorder while teaming up with Seventeen to help others. By James Dinh Demi Lovato Photo: Hearst Communications/The Jed Foundation After her sudden exit from her tour with the Jonas Brothers and a three-month stay at a treatment center , Demi Lovato is looking to use her own personal struggles to help other troubled teens. Earlier this week, she announced she was teaming up with Jed Foundation’s Love Is Louder Than the Pressure to Be Perfect campaign and Seventeen magazine, and in a PSA for the campaign released Thursday (April 14), the 18-year-old singer/actress opens up about the movement and advises others where they should turn to when feeling burdened. “There’s a ton of pressure out there to meet impossible standards,” Lovato says sitting before a white backdrop. “To look right, be smart, be thin, talented and popular. And many of us feel like we have to be everything to everyone, but it doesn’t have to be that way. When the pressure to be perfect is overwhelming, find an outlet. I love to paint, but there are also other ways to relieve that pressure. You can sing, dance, act, draw, shoot photos, write or run.” Lovato, who admitted in the upcoming issue of Seventeen that she does in fact struggle with an eating disorder, explains in the video that there are many people who deal with the same issues and advises fans to spread the Love Is Louder message. “If you’re going through a dark period, remember that you’re not alone,” she continues. “You can get help and you can feel better, so join me in spreading this message by snapping a photo of yourself with the message love is louder and the pressure to be perfect.” Courtney Knowles, executive director of the Jed Foundation, spoke to MTV News about why he believed the teen star was the perfect candidate to represent the Love Is Louder movement. (MTV teamed up with the Jed Foundation and actress Brittany Snow last fall to launch Love Is Louder in response to teen suicides connected to bullying.) “I think her story really resonates with a lot of girls. I think it already did,” Knowles said. “There had been a lot of speculation about what she had been through and … the fact that she’s so brave, that she’s willing to talk about these sensitive issues openly is really important, because part of the problem is so many teenagers don’t want to seem like they’re failing at anything, so they don’t talk about this. And without addressing the problem, you can never feel better.” As for whether Lovato will participate in any future Love Is Louder campaigning, Knowles revealed that the he and her team are still working out the details. “We don’t have a specific schedule yet, but she certainly is onboard to spread the message and for it to reach more teenage girls and young women,” he said. Lovato is also serving as a contributing editor for Seventeen, where she’s expected to write bi-monthly posts on Seventeen.com and contribute to the magazine’s coverage of issues facing teen girls. Knowles told MTV News that Lovato and Seventeen approached the organization about teaming up to create “something bigger than just the story.” In the May issue of the mag, which hits news stands April 19, the Disney starlet opened up about her battle with an eating disorder and what she’s learned since her days leaving treatment. Asked whether she ever felt pressure to pick up old habits, the star admitted “there have been times” when she was tempted to get rid of her dinner. “But I will deal with it for the rest of my life because it’s a life-long disease,” said the teen star. “I don’t think there’s going to be a day when I don’t think about food or my body, but I’m living with it, and I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place and stay with it.” Since leaving treatment for “emotional and physical issues” in late January, Lovato confessed that she has given herself “a lot of freedom.” “I have come to realize that just making yourself happy is most important,” she continued. “Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy. That’s my life motto.” Related Artists Demi Lovato

Janet Jackson Thrills Fans With Greatest Hits, Michael Tribute At Radio City

Singer covered songs ranging from classic ‘Pleasure Principle’ to 2008’s ‘Feedback’ at New York show. By Vaughn Schoonmaker Janet Jackson Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images Often imitated, never duplicated, Janet Jackson’s outbursts of meticulous choreography, sassy exclamations and smoldering gazes into the audience kept them on their feet for the entire two-hour set of her greatest hits at Radio City Music Hall. Monday night marked the last of three sold-out shows at the historic venue on her monumental Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour . Up-and-coming boy band Mindless Behavior opened the show with songs including “#1 Girl,” “Future” and their debut single “My Girl.” With their Usher-esque dance moves and shouts like “Where the ladies at?” the boys brought the tween girls out of hiding, judging by the shrill screams escaping various corner of the music hall. At 9:00 sharp, the lights went down and Janet’s fans were on the edge of their seats, watching music videos for “The Best Things in Life Are Free” and “Rhythm Nation” projected on big screens across the venue. A small shadow drifted toward center stage, and when the colorful lights came up, Jackson, wrapped in a shoulder-padded catsuit, complete with slick short hair, blasted into “The Pleasure Principle,” dancing as hard and intensely choreographed as she did when the song first came out in the 1980s. With barely a spare second between songs, Janet dazzled her way through her biggest hits, including “Miss You Much,” “All for You” and “Nasty,” and more recent hits like 2008’s “Feedback.” Videos displayed during Jackson’s costume changes included vintage clips from “Diff’rent Strokes,” a funny scene from “Poetic Justice” where Jackson slyly rejects the advances of Tupac Shakur’s character, and a rather heavy scene, as Jackson’s character in “Why Did I Get Married” destroys her husband’s house with a golf club, screaming hysterically. Considering the tough couple of years the Jackson family has faced, the dark moments in the video seemed necessary, and everyone was beside themselves with bittersweet joy when Michael Jackson’s face popped up on the big screen and she performed their hit single “Scream.” Janet emerged for her encore in a tight white one-piece disco suit, performing “Diamonds,” “Make Me” and “Together Again,” which appeared to be the biggest hit of the evening. Graciously bowing out, Jackson’s straight face transitioned into a smirk, suggesting that despite the hard times she has experienced recently, we can expect to see this singing and dancing pop legend shine far into the future. “Its amazing!” Janet fan Elena Mercantini gleamed afterward. “It’s like she’s still 20 years old!” “She’s hot, she’s amazing and she’s still got it after all these years” added Alison Klinger of Long Island. “Best concert I’ve ever been to!” Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Janet Jackson Michael Jackson

Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ Still Dominating YouTube

The 13-year-old singer’s ‘Friday’ video has amassed more views than Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’ By Jocelyn Vena Rebecca Black Photo: YouTube Whatever you may think of Rebecca Black, the girl is — dare we say it? — a star. She’s been a constant Twitter trend and she’s already beat Lady Gaga in YouTube views, as the official version of her polarizing clip for “Friday” has been watched more than 33.5 million times on the website. And now it seems that the 13-year-old is getting to cash in on her new-found fame. According to Forbes magazine the $2,000 Black’s mother shelled out to Los Angeles-based record company Ark Music Factory for the recording of the song and its lo-fi video has been made back many times over. By Forbes’ estimations, by the time the tune’s clip hit the 30 million YouTube view mark, everyone had profited $20,000 — a 1000-percent return on the original investment. In addition to the YouTube success, the song is being downloaded on iTunes, which reportedly pays 70 cents per single download, meaning that Black and her team could make upwards of $1 million. As of press time, “Friday” sat at the #33 spot on the iTunes chart. Black already has appeared on “Good Morning America,” where she defended her talents and her track and also shared that she’d love to work with fellow former YouTube sensation and teen idol Justin Bieber. She’s also had her song covered by Nick Jonas at a Jonas Brothers concert. “I think @nickjonas did an AMAZING job with Friday!” Black tweeted on Monday. “You’re amazing, Nick!” Despite being the target of derision by those who think that her tune and video aren’t up to professional standards, Black has received love and support from celebrities on Twitter. And she’s set to appear on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Tuesday night (March 22). What do you think about Rebecca Black’s success? Tell us in the comments. Jonas Brothers, Audrina Patridge Tweet ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Support

Stars show Twitter love for actress Chelsea Kane and dance pro Tony Dovolani as the reality show kicks off a new season. By Jocelyn Vena The Jonas Brothers Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage On Monday night, the new season of “Dancing With the Stars” kicked off, and while the latest installment of the show is noticeably absent of MTV reality stars, it does have a Disney starlet. Disney stars tend to be a staple on the hit TV dance competition and this time around Chelsea Kane has been recruited. Under her given name, Chelsea Staub, the actress has appeared on such hit shows as “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “JONAS.” Kane’s co-stars of the latter program sent out their love and support to the 22-year-old, who is dancing with Mark Ballas. She ended up getting 21 out of possible 30, and the Jonas Brothers seemed proud of their one-time TV cohort. “Team Kanenball! Help support @ChelseaKane tonight on DWTS!” the brothers tweeted , while Nick Jonas added , “How awesome was @ChelseaKane on #DWTS!” Former contestant and “Hills” star Audrina Patridge also checked out the premiere episode, and showed her love and support for her former dance partner, pro Tony Dovolani. She tweeted , “Watching @Tonydovolani and Wendy Williams on dwts!!!! ….Good job guys:) I miss it!!!!!!” Patridge and Dovolani were frontrunners last season, but it seems that he’s not having as easy as a go of it with his new partner. He and Williams only clocked in with 14 points. The talk-show host, however, didn’t have the lowest score of the night. That distinction was bestowed on “Loveline” co-host Mike Catherwood, who managed to only scrounge up a 13. The highest score of the evening went to Ralph Macchio, who seemed to channel some of those “Karate Kid” moves as he notched a 24. As for the remaining celebrity dancers, Kristie Alley scored a 23, footballer Hines Ward rated a 21, singer Romeo and WWE wrestler Chris Jericho both tallied 19 points, model Petra Nemcova and Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson each notched an 18, and Sugar Ray Leonard earned a 17. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Wedding Scene Will Be Shot In April

The pivotal ‘Twilight Saga’ scene will reportedly shoot next month in Vancouver. By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on the set of “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Fame Pictures With only four weeks left of filming for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I,” one of the key scenes left to be shot is the wedding scene between Edward and Bella. Now comes word that the scene will be shot during the first week of April in Vancouver. The news was revealed by Gil Birmingham, who plays Billy Black, during a chat at a “Twilight Saga” fan convention in Nashville over the weekend, according to AceShowbiz.com . Filming for “Breaking Dawn” is scheduled to wrap in mid-April, making the wedding scene one of the last in the film’s production. Late last week, the film’s production was suspended when tsunami warnings threatened production on Vancouver Island. MTV News had not received confirmation of the filming plans for the wedding scene as of press time. The Bella-Edward honeymoon scenes were shot late last year in South America. Fans were excited when a photo of Edward and Bella in bed, which Robert Pattinson later laughed off , was released as a tease. “It’s always awkward, in a way, doing it with anybody,” he admitted about getting cozy in bed with a co-star. “But at the same time … it really depends on how it’s staged and stuff. It’s like doing Twister.” Kristen Stewart also spoke to MTV News last fall about the pressures of picking out just the right dress for that long-awaited wedding scene. “To be honest, it’s such a big deal. It’s such a big decision. I have a little hand in having a decision — or having an opinion more — but I think it’s pretty much up to Stephenie,” Stewart said, referring to “Twilight” saga author Stephenie Meyer. “I’m not quite sure exactly what it’s going to look like, but it will be beautiful, I’m sure,” she added.
