Scarlett Johansson and Kieran Culkin: Dating?

Sorry, Bradley Cooper . If you were gonna woo ScarJo, you may be too late. Was there some love in the air, or was it just two old friends reconnecting when Scarlett Johansson and Kieran Culkin spent time in the City of Love last week? Who knows, but that’s the rumor of the day – that they’ve coupled up ! They were seen together again the following day – this time at the airport, hopping a flight back to the U.S. – but does that mean there’s a romance brewing? People also reports that, before their departure, Johansson (who was photographed with two dancers) and Culkin visited the erotic burlesque venue, Crazy Horse. Then again, they really are old, good friends who attended the same high school – the Professional Children’s School – in NYC, where Culkin was two years older. Think they’re a couple? Has he seen the hacked photos ? Who knows! [Photos: WENN.com]

Head of Russia’s Oscar Committee Calls for Giant Bomb/Official Selection to Withdraw on Account of It Sucks

You think the Oscars selection process gets political here? Just imagine sitting in the room when Russia’s national Oscar committee grudgingly voted for Nikita Mikalhkov’s enormous critical and commercial bomb, Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel ( Utomlyonnye solntsem 2: Predstoyanie ), to become the country’s official foreign language selection. Filmmaker and committee head Vladimir Menshov so strongly opposed the pick of the $45 million flop that he’s now lobbying publicly for the film’s director to pull out of the race.

When Taylor Lautner Wept

I know we all kind of visualize Taylor Lautner as a big strapping serving of beefcake and cheese, but the Abduction star is sensitive, too. Just ask him how he reacted to both the end of production and an early-edit screening of Breaking Dawn, Part 1 . Or don’t ask him! Fine! Either way, here’s your Buzz Break.

Our Commenters of the Week Get to Cast 10 More People in Scream 4

Apparently the real horror of Scream 4 is all behind the camera — they’ve got abrupt cast departures, impetuous hires, Wes Craven’s lack of script control , Kevin Williamson’s eviction , among other snafus. Now, as one of Movieline’s anointed commenters, you get a chance to add 10 more familiar names to the cast and make it the celebrity cavalcade it deserves to be. And so you know, I’ve already taken Jennifer Love Hewitt/Alfre Woodard/Kieran Culkin/Cicely Tyson/Justin Bieber/Gloria Stuart/Cole and Dylan Sprouse/Luise Rainer/Alfred Hitchcock. So choose something else.

The Verge: Emma Stone

The trajectory of Emma Stone’s young career is a steep one, spiking from her screen debut as Jonah Hill’s dream girl in Superbad (2007) to her iron-willed Wichita in last year’s Zombieland — both films that opened No. 1 at the box office. A couple of Stone’s films in between — The House Bunny and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past didn’t fare too poorly either. So the 21-year-old’s new film Paper Man arrives next week as a bit of a surprise (and not just because of its half-decade in development hell): A quirky, conscientious indie dramedy about writer Richard Dunn (Jeff Daniels) and the superhero imaginary friend (Ryan Reynolds) who exasperatedly shepherds him through the mid-life crisis blocking more than just Richard’s second novel. Stone plays Abby, a sardonic teenage loner with a suspicious pal of her own (Kieran Culkin) and an instant kind of psychic appeal to the struggling author. It may not be her biggest film role to date, but in the folds of her small-town inertia and the haunted past rolling across her face like cloud shadows, it’s inarguably her most dynamic. In addition to teasing the raunchy work her costars Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet performed in Untitled Comedy , Stone recently spoke with Movieline about falling in love with her role, hypothermia, catharsis, and why she’s not as intense an actor as you might think.
