Courtney Love: Kurt Cobain’s Ghost Visited Me & It Was Super Lame!

It’s been 25 years since Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life , and we’re sure the rock legend’s loved ones still miss him every day. Well, all except for Courtney Love, that is, who apparently chatted with Kurt’s ghost a few years after he died and was pretty unimpressed by the encounter. This information comes to us courtesy of Love’s latest interview with NME , in which she reveals that she received a spectral visit from Cobain while she was dating Edward Norton in the late ’90s. “When I moved to Hancock Park from Seattle with [daughter] Frances and Edward, I saw Kurt in a chair for a moment and he said hi to me and then he left,” she told the magazine. Somehow, this story is both surprising and totally predictable. We’re always taken aback to hear a sober (we assume) recollection of an otherworldly encounter. But at the same time, of course Courtney Love claims to have seen Kurt Cobain’s ghost, and of course he gave a casual “‘sup” and went on his ghostly way. Our younger readers might not remember this, but in the years before seething rage took over the world, excessive displays of emotion were considered deeply uncool, and Kurt was the king of the Apathetic 90s Guys. We don’t know why anyone would expect anything different from his ghost. A quick solo unplugged set would’ve been cool and all, but as long as Ghost Kurt was rocking a moth-eaten cardigan, we’ll accept that his final appearance was fully on-brand. On a related note, shout-out to Courtney Love for still being alive. We’re not trying to be morbid or anything, but really, who saw that one coming? Not only is Courtney still kicking despite having ingested every substance on the planet, she actually seems to be doing pretty well for herself. Against all odds, Love has even repaired her relationship with her 26-year-old daughter. Last we checked in on the family, Courtney and Frances were paying tribute to Kurt  on his birthday. So much has changed in the decades since the Nirvana frontman has been gone that it’s hard to believe Cobain would only be in his early fifties. Obviously, we joked around a lot here today, but reflecting on that sort of thing highlights how tragic every suicide really is. Young victims miss out on so very much: some of it good, much of it bad, but all of it worth experiencing.

Frances Bean Cobain Posts Bikini Pic, Shows Off Tattoos

Frances Bean Cobain has never shown much interest in entering show business or becoming a social media celebrity (apparently a viable career option for celebrity offspring in 2016), but she’s grown up under a microscope nonetheless. It’s not hard to see why, of course, as for a generation of music fans, her father is more much more than just a rock star (ironically, a role he says he never wanted to play). Kurt Cobain’s tragic passing elevated him to the level of icon, martyr of fame, member of the fabled 27 Club and unwitting sacrifice to the rock gods. Courtney Love, by contrast, has become, over the years, something of a punchline in the music world: a coattail-riding Lady MacBeth, a female Keith Richards haunted by her own Brian Jones. Whether that reputation is deserved or not is a question for another time. All of this is to say that short of moving into a convent the day she turned 18, there’s little that Frances could have done to escape the attention of the Gen-Xers who love her father’s music and the Milennials who love her style. Frances turned 24 yesterday, and despite some recent personal struggles (She divorced Isaiah Silva in March after just six months of marriage.) and a reputation for preferring the indoors (She is the First Daughter of the grunge movement, after all.) it appears that she decided to celebrate with a vacation in Hawaii: Cobain uploaded the above pic to her Instagram page (with the amazing handle of “space_witch666”) and it instantly racked up a ton of likes (nearly 24,000 so far) and sparked some intense debates over the meaning of her tattoos. Perhaps as a result of all she’s been through, fans seem to feel protective of FBC. (Rumors that Silva wanted to keep her father’s guitar after the divorce led to an uproar on social media.) As a result, her Instagram page is a mostly positive, supportive place. And thankfully, she seems to have grown into a stable, well-adjusted young woman. The girl is living proof that you can always make the choice to turn your back on a dark past and face the sun.

Ramona Singer Tells All: Divorce, Pills, and Suicide

Things haven’t been easy lately for The Real Housewives of New York City’s Ramona Singer.  It’s been rollercoaster ride of emotion and healing after Ramona’s husband cheated on her . But Ramona is getting her groove back, and she is opening up about the nightmare of 60-year-old Mario’s affair with Kasey Dexter , 33. In her upcoming book, Life on the Ramona Coaster , Ramona says that she became so depressed after learning about her husband’s affair that she considered suicide . “The stress of everything became unmanageable and it began to wreak havoc on my mind, body and spirit,” she candidly writes. “There were times when I was so low that I almost felt like throwing myself in front of a subway train.” Alarmed by her emotional state, a doctor prescribed her anxiety medication. However, it didn’t help, and the 58-year-old reality star and jewelry designer started popping extra pills. She even says that she took so many pills one evening that she fell asleep during a Broadway production of Kinky Boots. “I kept nodding off because I was taking too much anxiety medication,” she claims. “I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was overmedicating myself to combat depression.” Ramona learned Mario and Kasey were continuing their affair even after she gave his a** a second chance. So she finally kicked her philandering husband to the curb once and for all. After filing for divorce, Ramona’s emotional health began to improve. Some sources claim that Ramona has considered giving her sleazy ex-husband a third chance.  But her behavior on this season of The Real Housewives of New York City suggests otherwise.

Nirvana: Never-Before-Seen Photo of Band’s First Performance Tweeted By Teen

Lots of teens have rummaged through their parents’ old photo albums in search of laughable fashion statements and tragic hairstyles, but it’s not often that an old party pic turns out to be a priceless rock history artifact. That’s the experience that Seattle-area teen Maggie Poukkula had when she unearthed an old photo of her dad rocking out with Kurt Cobain in 1987. It wasn’t until she tweeted a photo of the photo that fans informed her the pic was taken at Nirvana’s first-ever gig. Maggie captioned the above image, “Pictures of my dad and Kurt Cobain playing together back in the day.” Asked by a fan if the photo was taken at the band’s first-ever performance, Maggie replied, “I don’t know. I’d have to ask my dad.” As it turns out the house party portrayed was held at the house of Maggie’s father in Raymond, Washington in March of 1987. At the time, young Tony Poukkula was spending his free time jamming with a newly formed punk trio that who called themselves Nirvana. The seminal grunge band has been back in the news a lot lately for both good reasons (a documentary about Kurt Cobain’s life was met with critical acclaim) and bad (the doc featured footage of Cobain holding his infant daughter while high on heroin ). By now, the story of the band’s meteoric rise, shambolic fall, and partial resurrection (Dave Grohl remains one of the world’s biggest rock stars) is well-known to even the most casual fans. But sometimes, it takes a photo like this to remind us of how it all began – a group of friends jamming together for the love of music and maybe some free beers. Good find, Maggie.

Kanye West: I’m Not in the Illuminati!

Kanye West has something important to pass along. The rapper is featured in Paper Magazine (actually wearing clothing, unlike those Kim Kardashian nude photos in Paper that nearly broke the Internet last year), looking dead serious on the cover and answering a serious question in the accompanying article. Is he a member of the Illuminati? With Kardashian having already answered no , Kanye stepped up and addressed the controversial topic as follows: “I’m tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That’s ridiculous. We don’t run anything; we’re celebrities. We’re the face of brands. We have to compromise what we say in lyrics so we don’t lose money on a contract.” Oddly enough, there really has been chatter over the years of certain artists being a part of this Enlightenment-era secret society, one whose mission was to oppose pretty much all things religion. Some folks believed Beyonce flashed the Illuminati sign during her Super Bowl halftime show in 2013. But anyway. Kanye was also asked by Paper about something even more dear to his heart than secret non-religious sects, responding to a question about daughter North West with surprising sentiment. “When I look in North’s eyes, I’m happy about every mistake I’ve ever made,” he says. Courtney Love: Kurt Cobain Killed Himself Because He Knew I Wanted to Cheat on Him

The new Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck premieres on HBO on May 4, and at the moment, that seems like an eternity  from now. And it’s not because the doc has gotten rave reviews and we’re looking forward to see it (though that’s certainly true). No, the real reason we want this thing to just hit the damn air already is because Courtney Love has been promoting it non-stop, and every time she opens up her meth mouth to spew some insanity about her late husband, it gets more and more depressing. Last week, Courtney talked about sex with Kurt , and though her heart was in the right place (we guess), sharing intimate details about bonin’ a guy who’s been dead for 21 years will always make people wonder if you’re off your meds. Now,  the murderous Ms. Love is going full-TMI on the topic of her marriage yet again, and her latest comments are unlikely to win her many new fans. “My desire to cheat on Kurt made him suicidal,” said Love in a recent interview. “I never, never cheated on him, but I certainly wanted to one time in London.” Yeah…claiming that you desperately wanted to cheat on your dead husband is bad enough. Claiming that you drove him to suicide is just downright evil. Of course, Love has been accused of murdering Cobain  in the past, (Her own father is among the many who think she put out a hit on Kurt.), and she’s spent decades defending herself against the charges. So admitting – after all this time – that she was  somehow involved in his death is an act of Robert Durst -ian insanity, and it’s enough to make us think that 50 years of living like Courtney Love has finally gotten to Courtney Love.
