One Direction Breaks Miley Cyrus VEVO Record with "Best Song Ever"

Well, that didn’t take long. Just a few weeks after Miley Cyrus set a VEVO record for most video views in a 24-hour period (10.7 million hits for “We Can’t Stop”), One Direction has knocked the artist into second place. The band’s latest effort – on behalf of the appropriately titled ” Best Song Ever ” – garnered 10.9 million viewers in its first day of release. At over six minutes, the unique video is practically a short film, doubling as a preview for the group’s actual 3D movie, which comes out August 30. It also features Zayn in drag and Liam in a wig, along with American accents and some phony facial hair. Diana Nyad Ends Bid to Swim Really, Really Far

Diana Nyad gave it an incredible shot, but the 62-year old endurance swimmer has been forced to get out of the water. Nyad was attempting to swim from Cuba to Florida, a 102-mile distance she first tried to navigate in 1978 and then again in August of this year. Diana Nyad News Report The motivational speaker’s latest effort was her best, at least, as Nyad made it about two-thirds of the way before being pulled at around 11 a.m. yesterday due to strong currents and jellyfish stings. Nyad says she grew motivated to try the Havana-to-Key-West route again after turning 60 because she wanted to feel young again. It’s an admirable idea, but she may wanna find a safer hobby.

VIDEO: Watch Madonna Hate on a Fan’s Flowers in Venice

Madonna’s latest effort as a filmmaker, W.E. , has not been the beneficiary of what you’d call especially glowing reviews out of the Venice Film Festival. Our own Stephanie Zacharek is among the more magnanimous critics to receive it there, calling it “at times comically bad. But it’s also criminally watchable.” At the other end of the spectrum are reviews citing its “galactic-level awfulness” and characterizing it as “inept, gauche and mendacious.” So what does the pop icon do when confronted with a fan ? David Lynch’s Debut Solo Album Crazy Clown Time Dropping on Nov. 8

When he’s not giving weather reports, bemoaning the debt crisis , and directing Duran Duran concerts , David Lynch is making music. Oh, and the occasional movie. His latest effort, a 14-track solo album entitled Crazy Clown Time (of course) features “dark” electronic pop songs on which he plays guitar, sings, and produces, with guest vocals by the likes of Karen O; it’ll be available in the U.K. and the U.S. on November 8.
