Kalon McMahon: The Bachelorette Villain Ready to Flake Out Over Emily Maynard’s Daughter?

The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard ‘s #1 priority is her 6-year-old daughter, Ricki. Kalon McMahon, a.k.a. the “villain” that ABC really wants you to hate (and a bunch of the guys probably do) this season, apparently feels otherwise. On tonight’s episode, he makes his feelings about fatherhood known. “I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life … it’s not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid,” he boldly admits to the Charlotte, N.C. single mom. Taken aback, Maynard asks the helicopter-riding douche to think of his own mother, who raised him as a single parent, but Kalon immediately cuts her off. “I love it when you talk, but I wish you’d let me finish,” he snaps. That comment will put Maynard even more on edge. “I love tall, skinny and funny, but I don’t love tall, skinny and condescending!” she snaps at him. Ouch. Another hopeful, Alessandro, reportedly tells her something similar tonight: “I don’t have a lot of experience with kids. You’ve got to teach me.” Not surprisingly, this doesn’t go over well with Em: “You see that as a compromise, not an honor? My daughter isn’t a compromise … anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever.” Bam. Will either or both of these guys get roses tonight? Who will make it to the end this season? Follow this link for The Bachelorette spoilers we know so far.

Emily Maynard on The Bachelorette: Protecting Ricki is Priority #1

Emily Maynard wouldn’t reveal if she gets engaged on The Bachelorette this season, though she says she “was happy before the show, but really happy now.” She also says the road to the final rose was secondary to protecting her little girl . On a conference call with reporters, she described how that influenced things: “If I was a single 26-year-old without a daughter, I’d be doing the same things the other Bachelorettes did. But Ricki is always at the forefront of my mind.” “I wouldn’t get in a hot tub on a first date in my everyday life so I sure as hell am not going to do it on [TV]. I like to keep Ricki sheltered to a point.” “She’s not at an age where she can even begin to understand the reason for the cameras. I told her it was for a very elaborate home video that she could watch way down the road. … Ricki’s life was not really affected at all.” “She was very protected throughout the entire process. She didn’t see the guys. I got to spend a lot of time with her, take her to school and do all my mom stuff.” As for how Emily Maynard finally came around to doing the show? “I had a million reservations and I said no to anybody who would listen. But time went on, we started talking again, and they were so accommodating that it was [too] great an opportunity to pass up,” the 26-year-old explained. “I had a great group of guys. I had the time of my life and learned so much about myself. It was the best experience getting to travel and to give Ricki the opportunity to see things she wouldn’t have otherwise.” The guys came in having an image of me in their head but as they got to know me better, they all said, [I was] nothing like they thought. It was a good thing.” “I’m feisty and sassy. It takes a little bit for me to really feel comfortable but I’ve never been called ‘boring’ in my normal everyday life.” As for which guys make it to the end? The Bachelorette spoilers we’ve compiled so far give you a fairly good idea of who the leading candidates are …

A “Lil Positivity”: Man Without Arms Or Legs Is Set To Climb 20,000 Ft. Up Mount Kilimanjaro

Here’s a lil Friday morning inspiration: A congenital birth defect left 25-year-old Kyle Maynard a quadruple amputee, but that won’t stop him from braving one of the toughest physical tests a person can face — the nearly 20,000 foot climb up Mount Kilimanjaro. Though Maynard’s arms end at his elbows and his legs stop at his knees, he will use no assistive device to climb the highest peak in Africa. He’ll make the climb using only pieces of bicycle tire taped to the ends of his limbs with heavy duty tape. “This is something I’ve wanted to do for years, just because of the level of the challenge. The harder something is, the better the experience tends to be on the other end once you get through it,” Maynard told ABCnews.com. Maynard has traveled the world as a motivational speaker, competed as a mixed martial artist and a wrestler and owns his own cross fit gym in Suwanee, Ga., but he says that Kilimanjaro will be the hardest feat he’s ever tried. A main mission behind the climb will be to “send a message” to veterans who have been disabled and to disabled children around the world “to show that there are challenges in life, but it doesn’t mean that you have to give up. You decide how you’re going to draw meaning from the challenges in your life.” The climbing team for “Mission Kilimanjaro 2012″ will consist of both “able-bodied” and “disabled” civilians and veterans who will set out on an approximately 16-day ascent in January. Before the climb they will be visiting the Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind in Moshi, Tanzania, where they will deliver $25,000 worth of donated medical supplies to the school. Among the climbing team will be several veterans who live with physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury or post traumatic stress disorder. Maynard explains that wounded veterans have made a “huge impact” on his life. He writes on the mission’s website: “I am climbing for the people who may realize how much potential they have in their lives. I am climbing to pay tribute to my heroes — the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much to preserve my freedom.” Amazing. We wish him the best of luck. Source

Loser Brad Womack Keeps Calling Emily Maynard

Brad Womack really needs to get over it and move on. Emily Maynard, who’s dating Jeremy Shockey , clearly us. But the two-time Bachelor star refuses to let go. That’s the report from the new issue of Us Weekly , which says Brad “calls Emily every day and at all hours!” Unfortch for B-Dubs, “She just doesn’t pick up.” “They actually haven’t spoken for months.” Maynard, mom to six-year-old daughter Ricki, started dating NFL player Shockey this fall, and was previously linked to David Smith after splitting with Brad. Brad is apparently far from pleased with either choice. He’s continually “filled up her voicemail with messages of him crying, saying how upset he was that she was with someone else,” the source reveals. At the same time, the typically non-committal stiff isn’t sure he wants to be with her … he’s just jealous and pining for her because he can’t have her. As such, Emily “just feels like he is so messed up!” Ben Flajnik , you have some pathetic shoes to fill.

The Bachelor: Michelle Money is on Team Emily

Michelle Money, who was sent home after her amazing SI Swimsuit Issue mauling of Brad Womack on The Bachelor this week, has no hard feelings toward Brad. Nor does she harbor any ill will toward Chantal O’Brien, her biggest rival. That said, she’s definitely pulling for Emily Maynard to win it all. “[Brad] needs someone soft-spoken and feminine. She’s just a Southern belle, ladylike and sweet. Emily will be the one who ends up with him,” she says. “If that’s what she wants. It’ll be more about her choosing him.” Emily Maynard , of course, has had her own struggles opening up. As for Chantal? “I don’t have anything against her,” Money swears . “She’s a beautiful, smart woman. It’s unfortunate everyone only got to see the catty side.” “Chantal was hard to know. She keeps her distance from women. I ever saw her, I’d give her the biggest hug, [but] I still don’t think she’s right for Brad.” What do you think? Who’s better for Brad?

Andrew Maynard’s Airdrop House: Just Add Water

Cameron Sinclair of Architecture For Humanity always says that the last thing people need after a disaster is another architect’s idea for instant housing, but that hasn’t stopped TreeHugger Best of Green Young Architect Andrew Maynard from looking at the problem of the flooding in Pakistan and writing: Many would suggest, correctly, that what a disaster of this magnitude DOES NOT need is another idealistic architect proposing yet… Read the full story on TreeHugger
