Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Clothing Store Closes Its Doors

However, that does not mean it’s the end of merchandising for the rapper’s legacy. The Marathon Clothing is still fully operational online but its doors were closed this week and there was no word on when it will reopen. There were unconfirmed reports that Marathon Clothing has made $10 million since the rapper’s untimely death. If that was true, coupled with Nipsey Hussle’s estimated net worth of $8 million, his multiple investments that included buying a strip mall likely have his family set up for life. pic.twitter.com/WHnKn9hq1W — Karen Civil (@KarenCivil) May 6, 2019 Hussle was shot and killed outside of the Marathon Clothing store on March 31. The suspect, 29-year-old Eric Holder, was arrested on April 2 in Bellflower, California. He has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Herman Douglas, Hussle’s business partner, described his final moments with the rapper early last month. “Me and Nipsey was talking, and the dude that shot him (Eric Holder) , he came and shook our hands,” Douglas told  the Los Angeles Times. Said he was a rapper and this old bulls**t. Shook our hands, the dude went and got his burger. He left.” Douglas also added, “What seems to be a less talented rapper had envy and hate in his eyes. Email Submit Douglas said he went inside the Marathon Clothing store to get some food, which is when 29-year-old Holder returned. “So, I might have left Nipsey’s side maybe three seconds,” Douglas said. “I left him maybe, approximately three seconds that I had left Nipsey and the dude came and shot him.” While Hussle was associated with gangs, he appeared to be distancing himself from that life. Shortly before his death, he was talking with Steve Soboroff, president of the Los Angeles Police Commission, about how to avoid youth from getting involved in gangs. During Monday night’s episode of LHHATL , she elaborated on what she meant about “infidelities on both sides” after bringing couples on the show to a cabin getaway to work on their relationships. “Me and Kirk done been through a whole, whole, whole lot of sh-t,” she said. “We at the point in our relationship where you gotta put things behind you in order to move forward.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). I ain’t always been perfect in my marriage. We’ve had dishonesty from both sides of us in this marriage. We’ve had infidelities from both sides of us in this marriage.” That statement was met with shock from the group. Rapper Lil Scrappy even said, “I can’t hear that coming out of your mouth!” However, Rasheeda said it was true, and that they were able to make it work and still have made it work all these years and issues later because they were able to forgive one another. “My situation was a very long time ago,” she said. “We grew together. He came up with the concept for a board game after noticing the lack of lessons surrounding entrepreneurship within school curriculums. In September, he created a crowdfunding campaign for the creation of The Entrepreneur Game and raised nearly three times more than his campaign goal from supporters across the globe. The game—which was designed for children 12 and older—takes players on an entrepreneurial journey. You start off as the CEO of your own company and throughout the game you go through stages of budgeting, marketing, investing, and negotiating. The goal is to evade going bankrupt. The winner of the game is the individual who has the most assets. “We may learn a few things in school, but one of the subjects it’s unlikely that we’ve been taught is entrepreneurship: how to create and build successful businesses of our own. Many of our schools barely teach our children the skills they need to survive,” Eddie said in a statement. “We owe it to our children and all of our futures to make sure they know that they are capable of creating a successful business. To make sure our children know that they can take their skills, talents and ideas to find a problem and solve it, to find a need and fill it, or to create a market and build it. Our children must grasp that among all of the things they can be now, and as they grow up, an entrepreneur is definitely within their grasp.” Major toy retailers are already eyeing the game to add to their shelves. Aretha Franklin Honored Posthumously With Pulitzer Prize Special Citation

L egendary songstress Aretha Franklin left an indelible mark in the realm of music and even after her death the Queen of Soul is still being awarded for her pivotal contributions. According to Rolling Stone , Franklin was posthumously honored with a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation. Franklin’s honor was historic as it was the first time that a woman artist received a Special Citation in Pulitzer’s history. As a recipient of the award, she joins a list of influential music artists who have been given Pulitzer Prize Special Citations in the past including Duke Ellington , Bob Dylan , John Coltrane , and Rodgers & Hammerstein . Franklin’s loved ones are grateful that she has received this recognition and believes that it speaks volumes to how she has forever changed the landscape of music. “Aretha is blessed and highly favored even in death. She’s continued to receive multiple awards — she’s received almost every award imaginable and now to get the Pulitzer Prize, it’s just amazing,” her niece Sabrina Owens said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Sentinel . “Aretha continues to bless us with her music and just paving the way for women going forward. It’s thrilling. She would be so happy right now. She was just very gifted and talented, and the world is still recognizing that.” News about the honor comes weeks after the film Amazing Grace hit theaters. The documentary-style project captures Franklin and the Watts-based New Bethel Baptist Church choir in January 1972. “Amazing Grace is the heart and soul of Aretha Franklin,” Owens told Variety . “This film is authentic and is my aunt to her core. 8-Year-Old Helps Siblings Overcome Sickle Cell Disease

A n 8-year-old from Orlando is being hailed a hero after saving the lives of his brother and sister. According to WPTV , Stefan Aihe donated his bone marrow to help them both overcome sickle cell disease. Stefan Aihe is a hero. https://t.co/jMsud3S4TK — ESSENCE (@Essence) April 12, 2019 Kingsley , 22, and Vanessa , 13, were both born with the blood disorder which is one of the most common genetic diseases. The disease causes the breakdown of red blood cells which can result in blocking oxygen and blood flow to certain parts of the body. African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by the disease. According to a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 13 Black babies are born with the sickle cell trait. Bone marrow transplants are the only cure for the disease, but many people struggle to find a match. After the family decided that they would go through the bone marrow transplant process with both Kingsley and Vanessa, they were surprised and ecstatic to discover that their youngest child Stefan was a match for both of their other children. Vanessa was cured after Stefan gave her a transplant a few years ago and now Kingsley is cured from a transplant that Stefan gave him in November. “It’s incredibly rare to have the same donor give to two different siblings. You know, to match is uncommon, but it’s not impossible,” Dr. David Shook told the news outlet. Their mother Nikki Aihe says this has been a huge blessing for the family. The family hopes their story will inspire others to spread awareness about sickle cell and individuals will step up and become donors. There have been efforts to bring attention to the disease and its disparities. Pfizer recently announced that the company is teaming up with other sickle cell advocates to push research surrounding the disease forward. Move over fam!  North West may be too young for a boyfriend , but she is not too young to be a cover girl.  The 5-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has landed her first modeling gig!  And it is absolutely adorable. You can find little Nori on her first solo cover for WWD’s issue about Generation Z , titled “Keeping Up With the Future.” Not to anyone’s surprise, Kim helped style her own daughter for the shoot, showing off North’s rainbow Dr. Marten boots, a bright pink tunic top and even pink eyeshadow!  “My most stylish and beautiful baby girl North shot her 1st cover for @wwd !!!!” Kim wrote alongside pictures from the photo shoot. “She loves fashion & beauty and has so much fun doing this!” The reality star also took to Twitter to share her excitement, “I’m seriously so proud of my Northie! Jessa Duggar Sticks It to Dumb Person Who Trolled Her Niece

How many times must Jessa Duggar prove this point, Internet users? She simply is not here for any of your judgmental BS. Just a month ago, if you recall, Duggar showed some impressive snark when she clapped back at someone who mocked her family’s choice of restaurants. In response to this individual asking whether “you guys ever eat anywhere besides Marketplace Grill,” a frequent Duggar family destination in Arkansas, Jessa simply replied: No we don’t. Not exactly overly crude or rude, but Duggar actually deleted the sarcastic retort because it didn’t fit in with her clean and proper brand. Fair enough, we guess. Now, however, Jessa has once again spoken out against some troll on the Internet. And it all started with this seemingly harmless photo below: It features her son, Henry, fighting with his cousin, Meredith, over a toy and it includes a caption that reads in part: “Merry Christmas from our family to yours! Hopefully there is none of this going on at your house. “The gifts are fun, and the food’s gonna be great, but let’s not forget the reason for the season.” Jessa also shared a few Bible verses with this snapshot, but her followers were more concerned with the state of Meredith’s feet than anything else. No, really. We’re not making that up. What’s up with the dirty bottoms, many folks actually asked and wondered, continuing in the tradition of shaming Jessa whenever possible . We can’t really blame her in this case for pushing back a little bit. “Mine looks about the same,” she said in response to a negative comment. “It’s 60 degrees outside today. That’s barefoot weather.” Again: Not exactly a scathing comeback, but this is Jessa Duggar we’re talking about here. The fact that she felt a need to say anything at all proves how fed up she is with strangers focusing on such mundane (read: stupid!) things. She also said: “Yes, it’s Meredith’s toy and Henry was trying to steal it.” Jessa, who is also a mother to a second son named Spurgeon, is all too aware of the criticism her family faces nearly every day on social media. As previously noted, this isn’t the first time she has clapped back at a hater who had something negative to say about her loved ones. Earlier this year, to use another example, Duggar had no patience when some troll criticized her for using the word “training” about raising her kids. This person thought the word ought to be reserved for dogs, not human beings. “We train for occupations, we train for jobs, we hire personal trainers for fitness and we train/teach our kiddos in right behavior in the hopes they will grow up to be caring, thoughtful and responsible adults,” she wrote back, summoning all the sarcasm she could muster and concluding: “But I agree, dogs are not humans. Jesus Take The Wheel: Family Beats The Brakes Off Uncle For Crushing 1-Year-Old Niece With Car & Fleeing

Source: Fresno Police / Fresno Police Man Beaten And Arrested After Running Over Baby Niece With Truck A 33-year-old man from Fresno, California most likely received  the beat down of his life after he seemed to accidentally hit his niece with his truck and kept driving. According to reports by The Daily Mail,  23-month-old Zayliah Medina was seen walking in front of the truck before he uncle, 33-year-old Eddie Alvarado, rolled over here, crushing her. In a weird twist, her uncle keeps driving and family members start to chase him. It was all caught on camera. Zayliah has been left with head trauma, spinal trauma, injuries to her organs and broken bones as a result. Alvarado sustained his own injuries after being assaulted in retaliation to hurting his niece according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer. The man didn’t snitch of who exactly assaulted him. He was booked Wednesday on hit-and-run charges. As we said earlier, it was all caught on video. This is GRAPHIC footage of the actual incident.
