Cast of MTV’s Real World Brooklyn | January 7, 2009 (Photo by Jim Spellman/WireImage) The Real World Is Being Reimagined For Facebook Watch Next Year MTV’s popular series The Real World is coming back, and it’s being “reimagined” with three brand new seasons that are all set to begin next year. The trio of new seasons will be available for viewers exclusively via Facebook Watch, the streaming service that houses other series like Kim Kardashian’s You Kiddin’ Me and Ball in the Family . Mexico, Thailand, and the United States have been announced as the locations from which the original MTV mainstay will explore different themes like “friendship” and “social environments.” “MTV’s The Real World helped to define a generation and created a new genre of television with a simple yet powerful idea of connecting people from wildly divergent backgrounds to find common ground on the issues that often divided them,” President of MTV Chris McCarthy said during the Facebook Watch presentation at MIPCOM 2018 in Cannes this week. “By partnering with Facebook Watch and BMP, we have the opportunity to impact culture and create a new genre of television all over again, while engaging the next generation of content consumers around the world.” With Facebook, viewers are going to be given the chance to vote one housemate onto the show in addition to the pre-selected cast. The new episodes are set to begin rolling out in Spring of 2019. News of a digital reboot of The Real World initially broke back in June via Deadline . This upcoming  Real World return arrives during a particularly nostalgia-driven programming period for MTV in particular. Just earlier this week, it was announced that Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s son Brandon Thomas Lee had joined the cast of the Mischa Barton-starring revival of The Hills . The same network’s Jersey Shore revival is already being aired.   Will you be watching The Real World’s return?

Each Halloween , white folks all across America feel like it’s their opportunity to show just how racist and hateful they are. According to NWITimes , a young girl was on the phone with her mother, Toya Griffin, while walking along her route to school when she came across an effigy of a Black man being hanged in someone’s front yard. Her mother implored her to take a photo in case the owners targeted their home in the future. “She was like, ‘No, no, they’re going to see me taking a picture of this.’ She’s like, ‘I got to walk to school every day,’” Griffin said. Eventually she did take a photo and sent it to her mother who contacted the police. “The hands were tied behind the back. The feet were tied around the ankles,” Griffin said. “It’s the same manner as a lynching.” A police spokesman said that the after speaking to the homeowners, the lynched “decoration” was said to have had a “Jason” mask on initially, but the masked was “stolen” so the character was only a black-faced body resembling a Black man. Momma Griffin also had an issue with the officer who responded because he didn’t see the problem with the hanged “Jason”, to that she responded: “OK, what does Halloween have to do with lynching?” she said. “This is not a scarecrow. This is not a witch.” Checkmate, bacon boy. What DOES Halloween have to do with lynching? We’ll wait…

Source: Scott Olson / Getty Barack Obama can no longer hold the highest office in the land, but he still has the ability to inspire the nation as evidenced by a rousing speech he gave earlier Friday. While at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, the former commander-in-chief slammed President Donald Trump and the Republican Party in the most eloquent way possible. Politico reports : Laying out a brief history of America — starting with George Washington’s decision to step out of public life after leaving the presidency — Obama framed the 2018 elections as more significant than ever before. And for the first time since leaving office, he said Trump’s name. Obama unfurled a paragraph-by-paragraph condemnation of Trump, his presidency and what he has uncorked in American politics. “It did not start with Donald Trump. He is a symptom, not the cause,” Obama said to applause. “He’s just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years.” It’s not just about Trump, Obama said. It’s about Republicans “who know better in Congress … bending over backwards to shield” Trump. They’re hypocrites, he said, and they’re just as dangerous to America. At times mocking them and at times laying into them, Obama said they’ve abandoned all that they’re supposed to stand for as Republicans, and as citizens of this country. On Tuesday, September 4 the tailor was honored at the Harlem’s Fashion Row gala hosted at Capitale New York. Mr. Day was presented with the Lifetime Maverick Award. Wearing a black tuxedo with a sequin like bow tie, that matched his signature over sized Gucci sunglasses, the famed outfitter was grateful for the distinction and the opportunity to further open doors for minority designers. “It’s something I never expected, and that’s pretty obvious by the fact I never tried to penetrate the fashion industry,” he explained to Page Six.  “I had absolutely no connection to the structure of fashion, so it was something that I never expected. But I feel great about it now — more so for what it does to people of color, for people behind me.” NBA great LaBron James also had a big night as he formally unveiled HFX x Lebron 16. It is a Nike first; a basketball shoe for women designed by women. Three African American designers crafted the shoe under James’ direction that it be themed after strong Black women. On stage the LA Laker’s speech furthered his sentiments behind the release. “I believe that African American women are the most powerful women in the world” he said. ‘Bron also cited his mother as a huge inspiration for the collaboration. “Because of you, Gloria James, I am able to give back — her sense of pride and sense of strength.” Harlem’s Fashion Row is a social company that provides a voice for multicultural designers; through a creative platform that enables these designers to sell and present their collections to key leaders within the fashion industry. Spelman College And Ford Launch Initiative For First-Generation College Students

I n an effort to increase the representation of Black first-generation college students at Spelman College, the institution has teamed up with Ford Motor Company for the creation of a new initiative, the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education reported. . @SpelmanCollege , Ford Fund partner to help first-generation students via @ajc > > https://t.co/gwAlipJryk #FordFirstGen — Ford Fund (@fordfund_) August 16, 2018 Dubbed Ford First Gen, the program is designed to help aspiring college students overcome socio-economic barriers that prevent them from furthering their education, the news outlet writes. Through the initiative, participants will be able to take advantage of services and resources that will ensure their personal, academic, and professional success; including being mentored by students who are in their junior year at Spelman. After going through the program, students will have the opportunity to mentor those who are following in their footsteps. Mentors will be awarded $10,000 towards their tuition. Under the program, there will be seminars hosted that are related to career development and goal setting, trips that will give participants the opportunity to interact with individuals who are making moves in industries that they aspire to pursue careers in, and students will also be aligned with summer internships to build upon their professional experiences. Mary Schmidt Campbell , President, Spelman College, is excited about the partnership with Ford Motor Company and believes that the program will be nothing short of impactful. “Ford Motor Company’s partnership with us in the Ford First Gen program brings a comprehensive, innovative and collaborative approach that exemplifies an important part of ‘the Spelman Promise’ – ensuring that every Spelmanite graduates with a competitive edge,” she said in a statement, according to the news outlet. Maci Bookout Has One Big Problem with Bristol Palin Joining Teen Mom OG

Maci Bookout held little back as a guest this week on Kailyn Lowry’s “Coffee Convos” podcast. First, as previously detailed, Maci spoke out for the first time since ex Ryan Edwards got arrested for approximately the 174th time. From there, Bookout delved into the most pressing topic facing Teen Mom OG viewers at the moment… … the addition of Bristol Palin to this franchise. In mid-July, this daughter of an ignorant, close-minded and controversial former Vice Presidential candidate confirmed that she was headed to MTV , claiming she was joining the series in order to serve as a role model. Asked about Palin as a co-star, Maci at first took a shot at former co-star Farrah Abraham , who was dismissed from Teen Mom this past winter due to her penchant for appearing in amateur porn videos. “I really feel like I’m not gonna be mad about anybody joining because anybody’s better than Farrah,” Maci told Kailyn on the podcast. Not many folks out there will disagree with this opinion. It wasn’t exactly Maci’s most scorching take of all-time. Bookout went on to tell Lowry and cohost Lindsie Chrisley that she doesn’t “really care if other people join the cast,” nor does she blame Bristol for doing so. She simply would have appreciated any kind of heads-up prior to MTV announcing the decision. “I think me and Catelynn [Lowell] and Amber [Portwood] are all pretty much on the same page,” Bookout explained, adding: “If they bring in new cast members, we don’t want it to be called Teen Mom OG because that’s not true if there’s new cast members. “We don’t really care who joins because in our minds, we’re like, if somebody is presented with the opportunity, or like, say, one of us was never on the show and they asked us, no one’s going to turn the opportunity down. “You can’t be mad at somebody for accepting an opportunity.” This is a reasonable point of view. Of course, Palin is reportedly making $250,000 for one season of filming, which may be cause for tension between her and her new colleagues. This huge salary could be considered disrespectful to those who have been part of the cast for years. Bookout says she would have appreciated a “courtesy call” from producers, but didn’t sound all that peeved about Palin: “That’s my problem. Like, hey, they know when it’s going to come out. They know when the official release is coming out so, like, an hour before, call. Give us a call and be like, ‘Hey, by the way, this is who your new cast member is going to be. it’s being released today. … We’ve been doing this for 10 years!” In her own statement since the news went viral, Bristol said the following about her upcoming role on Teen Mom OG: I am excited to join MTV’s ‘Teen Mom OG.’ I look forward to sharing my experiences and hope that I can help others on their journey. Elsewhere, Lowry also asked Bookout about the reports that The Challenge’s Cheyenne Floyd and Corey Wharton are joining the cast. But the long-time reality TV personality did not confirm or deny the casting rumor. Or seem to care much. “I think because Bristol Palin has such a … I mean, her mom ran for vice president, so I think it’s just a bit of a bigger deal than fellow MTV stars coming on,” she said.
