Divorces: Chris Rock & Malaak Compton-Rock Split After 19 Years Of Marriage

Chris Rock Divorces Wife Malaak After 19 Years Another one bites the dust …unfortunately. Via People: Chris Rock and his wife are divorcing after nearly 20 years together. “After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Malaak Compton-Rock, a philanthropist and founder of the nonprofit styleWorks, said in a statement Sunday. “Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life’s blessings, even when faced with difficulties. “While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives.” Rock’s attorney, Robert S. Cohen, confirmed the couple has split. “Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak,” Cohen said in a statement. “This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family.” The Top Five star, 49, wed Compton-Rock, 45, in 1996. They live in Alpine, New Jersey, with their two daughters together, Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10. Damn….and during the holidays too. Yikes, did you guys see this one coming??? WENN

Phil Mickelson Apologizes for California Tax Comments

Phil Mickelson made headlines this week, but not for draining any high-pressured birdie putts or choking away another Major. Instead, on Sunday, the popular golfer stepped into the contentious world of politics , complaining to the press about Proposition 30, the state measure passed last year in California that raises the tax burden on wealthy individuals. Along with federal taxes, Mickelson said he will now be paying nearly 63% of his income in taxes. “I’m not going to jump the gun, but there are going to be some (changes),” Mickelson said a few days ago, hinting at a move out of California. “There are going to be some drastic changes for me because I happen to be in that zone that has been targeted both federally and by the state and… it doesn’t work for me right now.” The comments were mostly met with derision, considering Sports Illustrated listed the golfer as the second-highest paid athlete in 2012, raking in $60 million between PGA tour winnings and endorsements. The public wasn’t thrilled to hear a multi-millionaire whine about his taxes, something Mickelson recognized yesterday in a statement to Fox News: “Finances and taxes are a personal matter and I should not have made my opinions on them public. I certainly don’t have a definitive plan at this time, but like everyone else I want to make decisions that are best for my future and my family.”

Two and a Half Men Creator Challenges Charlie Sheen to a Live-Off

At the conclusion of last night’s Two and a Half Men episode, the final installment filmed prior to Charlie Sheen’s quasi trip to rehab, creator Chuck Lorre posted a message that ran in the show’s credits. Likely in response to the actor’s hilarious threat that CBS better let him work or else he’ll go back to boozing, Lorre made a reference to Sheen dying young. The on-screen card read: What do you think? Is Chuck Lorre calling out Charlie Sheen in such a public, personal matter fair or foul? UPDATE: In response, Sheen says: “Chuck, I will outlive you. I will piss you off… I miss you, man.”

Julia Stiles Denies Role in Divorce Between Co-Stars

Michael C. Hall may have been fixated on the rear end of Julia Stiles at a recent party, but the actress wants to make something very clear: this doesn’t mean she played any role in his split from Jennifer Carpenter. Days after these Dexter stars announced their divorce , rumors sprung up that Hall’s relationship with Stiles mirrored the naked one between their characters on season five of this Showtime hit. Julia Stiles helped kill people on Dexter. But she insists on not committing any marital homicide for Michael C. Hall. But Stiles has now released a statement in response to that chatter: “I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together. “This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life private, I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter.”

Teresa Giudice Files for Bankruptcy, Seeks "Fresh Start"

This is shocking. Who would have thought that a bunch of spoiled, self-centered women – only famous because Bravo has placed a TV camera in their faces – would have so many problems? There’s the Danielle Staub sex tape , of course (along with her past of drug use, arrests and rumored prostitution). And now there’s official word from Teresa Giudice that her and her husband have filed for bankruptcy. According to documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newark, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is over $8 million in debt. She and husband Joe owe more than $33,000 on credit cards, $85,000 for home repairs and $91,000 for materials used to construct their new home. Said Giudice to People : “While this is a personal matter, I realize that certain aspects of my private life will always be subject to scrutiny and distortion. What is true is that due to the economy, most of my husband’s real estate ventures failed despite his hard work and effort. As a result, we looked to the Bankruptcy Court for a fresh start.” Teresa claims she is learning from her financial mistakes, which recently included a lavish birthday party for their nine-year old daughter that would have made Donald Trump blush. Seriously, it’s hard for have any sympathy for these rich morons.
