David Richards/MJP Paparazzi TV Personality Bevy Smith Among Honorees At Swank Harlem Gala Uptown’s finest showed up and showed out at the fifth annual Harlem Haberdashery’s Masquerade Ball. More than 300 people packed the Riverside Church of New York City for the event, which benefits benefitted the non-profit #TakeCareOfHarlem, which works in the Harlem community to provide resources to the underserved. David Richards/MJP Paparazzi This year’s theme was “A Royal Ball in Harlem,” and the ball honored “Page Six TV’s” Bevy Smith, Margarette Purvis of the Food Bank for New York City and Michael J. Garner of100 Black Men. Although Smith couldn’t make it because she was covering the Oscars in L.A., she sent a message of thanks. And in their acceptance speeches, fellow honorees Purvis and Garner talked about what Harlem meant to them. One Of R. Kelly’s “Kept Women” Speaks Out As we’re sure you’ve heard by now, R. Kelly’s been accused of preying on young women YET AGAIN — this time, keeping a bevy of brainwashed young beauties holed up in a mansion together and cutting them off from their families solely for his own sexual pleasure and entertainment. That’s if you believe the parents of one of his alleged “victims,” 21-year-old Joycelyn Savage. In addition to a lengthy expose by Buzzfeed, Joycelyn’s parents held a press conference detailing how brainwashed they believe her to be, detailing her personality changes, and her supposed inability to leave the home R. Kelly has placed her in without his permission. Now, TMZ has caught up with Joycelyn, and she pretty unconvincingly is reporting that she is a-okay and her parents need to leave her alone: ….right. Nevermind the fact that the shadow of whoever was filming her clearly made a “cut it” motion with their hand when it came to questions about where she is and who’s there with her . She also confirms she hasn’t steadily spoken to her family in nearly six months while she’s under Kellz’ “care.” Yeah, sounds SUPER voluntary. Granted, this girl is an adult — regardless of how young and lost she sounds here. We don’t know how much recourse the family truly has when she’s over 21 and claiming that she is choosing to do what she’s doing and simply not ever speak to or see them. Niecy Nash , as well as Karrueche and their co-star Harold Perrineau, recently dished to EBONY about “Claws” and the full set of drama on the show. According to Niecy after she personally suggested Kae for the role of ex-exotic dancer turned nail tech Virginia… “With the part of Virginia, it was a very hard part to cast. I tested with a lot of women. So I said, “Are you all familiar with Karrueche Tran?” Some of them were. Some of them were not. I said, “I think she may be an interesting choice for this. You should bring her in.” The reason I said that was because I felt like meeting her in person; I could see some of the things in her personality that could really work for the role. So she had to go through several rounds of auditions before she got the part, but she cried like a baby when I talked to her after booking it. We went out, and we celebrated. She studied off her a*s though.” Karrueche also told EBONY that she scrupulously studied strippers at some Atlanta shaky butt clubs for inspiration. Dancing With the Stars Results: Who Got the Boot on Vegas Week?

Who got the boot on Dancing with the Stars, and who lived to dance another week after some good, bad and ugly Vegas Week performances? As always, it came down to the wire as the contenders are starting to distance themselves from the pretenders of the Season 24 crew. Not going home? Heather Morris, the former Glee star and Beyonce backup dancer who has critics saying Dancing with the Stars is rigged . It’s not, but she is quite good. With per partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy out at least a week due to an injury, she and sub Alan Burston did not miss a beat on Monday. The two performed a tango to Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which had the judges (and those who remember the classic music video) floored. Heather and Alan earned a 33 out of 40, tying them with Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev, who performed a samba to Ricky Martin. Kerrigan is breaking a leg , but only in the figurative sense, so far; Nick Viall, on the other hand, has yet to find a post-Bachelor groove. Nick and Peta Murgatroyd struggled in rehearsals, and while the judges offered some kind comments, their score was a modest 26. Tying that total were Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess , who went down faster than his hand on her waist during the infamous premiere. They were tied with Simone Biles last week, so falling back into a tie with Nick and Erika Jayne, who also scored a 26, was not ideal. At the very bottom of the scoreboard, though, were two other celeb couples: Mr. T and Kym Herjavec, along with Charo and Keo Motsepe. Mr. T’s foxtrot was a hit, but not a scoring hit, and while Charo threatened to quit last week, she may get her wish as both scored 24. Last to dance Monday night? Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, whose foxtrot earned them two 8s and two 9s, and sole possession of first place with 34. Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater, David Ross and Lindsay Arnold, and Simone Biles and Sasha Farbery, all performed solid routines. Solid, but not great, landing them in the middle of the pack. Simone, in particular, struggled to bring the personality to match her athleticism. All of the above were safe on this evening, as the bottom of the group who you would expect to be sweating it out sure as heck was. The two couples in jeopardy: Charo and Keo , along with Nick and Peta. No Bachelor star has ever gone home this fast (Melissa Rycroft is the only one to win it). According to various estimates, over 750,000 people protested in Los Angeles… over 500,000 in Washington D.C… over 250,000 in Chicago. And so on and so forth. A number of these protestors were celebrities . And the celebrity who has received the most attention as a result of her appearance in D.C. was Ashley Judd. And that's because Judd used Trump's own two words (courtesy of an insult her hurled during a debate at Hillary Clinton) against him. “I am a feminist…I am a nasty woman,” Judd declared in her reading of a poem by Nina Donovan, 19-year old from Tennessee. The message went on to paints a harsh portrait of Trump's America, awash in corruption, chauvinism and racism. “I am not as nasty as a swastika painted on a pride flag. And I didn't know devils could be resurrected but I feel Hitler in these streets. A mustache traded for a toupee,” Judd continued. “I am not as nasty as racism, fraud, conflict of interest, homophobia, sexual assault, transphobia, white supremacy, misogyny ignorance… “We are not here to be debunked.
