Katie Nehra Knows How To Dress

I’m always on the lookout for new hotties, which is how I found these pictures of Katie Nehra . According to my sources, she’s at the premiere of some new movie called Alex of Venice , which she apparently co-wrote and acts in. But if she’s looking for a new project, I’ve got a great idea for a movie she could help me write. See, it’s about this hottie who moves in with a pasty blogger and his mom and is allergic to wearing clothes. And if Katie plays her cards right, I might even let her play the lead role. » view all 12 photos Photos: WENN.com

Ryan Gosling to Star in Fifty Shades of Grey?

Is Ryan Gosling set to play the lead role of Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey? Not exactly. Or at all. But the rumor mill has run wild with this one. Why? According to reports, author E. L. James’ husband Niall Leonard thinks Gosling would be perfect and he is now the frontrunner for the role. Only those reports aren’t accurate. “As usual, it’s all been misreported,” she said. “What happened is that his local paper … reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey.” “Underneath, they put a picture of Ryan Gosling. So, that’s how that came about.” James, meanwhile, says she has 3-4 actors in mind for the steamy role, but declines to name any names. Maybe she should check out this fan made Fifty Shades of Grey trailer . The roles of Christian and Ana are “a long way” from being cast in the wildly anticipated film adaptation, although Carla Gugino did score a small but key role in the movie. At the end of the day, James told Ryan Seacrest that the whole experience of writing the popular books has been wild. “I wasn’t prepared for all this [attention],” she says. “This whole roller coaster ride has been completely mind-blowing.” Would Gosling be mind-blowing as Christian? Vote below!   Yes! He’d be perfect as Christian! No! Someone else! View Poll »

Ryan Gosling To Direct Drive Co-Star Christina Hendricks In Feature Debut

Ryan Gosling is graduating from actor/coloring book muse to writer-director with his directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster , from his own script – and he’s recruited Drive co-star Christina Hendricks to play the lead. So what’s the Baby Goose’s first foray behind the camera about? Described as a “modern day fairytale” with elements of “fantasy, noir, and suspense,” Monster sounds like a cousin of sorts to Nicholas Winding Refn ‘s Drive , which followed Gosling’s coiled-up Driver in a seedy tour through Los Angeles. Hendricks co-starred in Drive as Blanche, the pouty femme fatale who gets wrapped up in a job gone wrong before taking a memorable powder in a motel bathroom. Monster , produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel (two of the producers on Drive ), will be courting buyers at the Toronto Film Festival next month, with filming to start next spring. Per press release, via Indiewire: ” How To Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy, noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.” [ Indiewire ]

Peter O’Toole’s Drunkest Hits

It’s not as though Peter O’Toole died this week when he announced his retirement from acting, but contemplating the Irish great’s absence from stage and screen alike nevertheless yields a bittersweet fog of remembrance through which our hearts and souls must now navigate. I think they call it a “hangover.” Thankfully, there is video (to say nothing of the gloriously soggy moment in time, above, when Roger Ebert and Jason Patric found themselves supporting the legend). For my money, nothing beats his epic entrance on a 1995 episode of The Late Show , where David Letterman welcomed O’Toole and a thirsty camel named Topsy to the stage in London. What happened next put Lawrence of Arabia to shame. Previously, during a drunken stint on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show , O’Toole had confessed to… another drunken stint on The Tonight Show . And who will ever forget (ahem) O’Toole’s celebrated performance as the sodden title character in Keith Waterhouses’s play Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell ? (Dialogue NSFW, though under the circumstances what could possibly go wrong with slowly turning your chair to your boss and/or any other objecting parties and woozily sputtering, “It’s Peter O’Fucking Toole . Listen!”) Here he is duetting with — and tackling, naturally — his late, lamented contemporary Richard Harris ahead of a rugby match in Ireland. It’s not quite O’Toole, but back on The Late Show in 2011, you can practically taste the sauce in Ryan Gosling’s tale of confronting the actor on Oscar night a few years earlier. And just for fun, here’s Bill Hader helping to cement O’Toole’s legacy, SNL style: Oh! And he acted in a few things en route to becoming the losingest (0-for-8, ouch) acting nominee in the history of the Academy Awards. He did, however, deliver a reasonably sober acceptance speech for the honorary Oscar he received (despite trying to refuse ) in 2003. By way of our partners at ENTV, here’s a run through O’Toole’s screen highlights. Happy retirement, Peter! We’ll send whiskey. Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
