VIDEO: The Real-Life Mr. Schuester Talks Teenage Lea Michele

How much of a stretch is it for Broadway-turned-television star Lea Michele to play uptight diva Rachel Berry on Glee ? According to her former high school teachers in Tenafly, New Jersey, it is not that much of a stretch at all, because the Emmy-nominated actress demonstrated the same kind of behavior and star quality way back in high school.

‘Chronicles Of Narnia’ Journeys To Top Of Friday Box Office

‘Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ makes $8.2 million on first day in theaters. By Mawuse Ziegbe Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes and Ben Barnes in “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” Photo: 20th Century Fox It looks like Liam Neeson’s globe-trotting efforts to pin down the correct feline sensibilities for his role in “Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” were not in vain. Neeson recently told MTV News that he traveled to Africa to observe real-life lions to help craft his portrayal of a CGI jungle monarch in the fantasy flick, and when the film hit theaters Friday it ruled the box office. The third installment in the series opened at the top spot, picking up $8.2 million. Behind “Narnia” is another hotly anticipated debut: Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp’s Europe-based caper “The Tourist.” Even though Jolie’s large brood teased her “funny” accent in the flick, the camera-friendly A-listers’ thriller arrived in theaters in second place. The film, which also features Paul Bettany and Timothy Dalton, kicked off the weekend with $6.1 million. The animated family-friendly flick “Tangled” continued to nab moviegoers at the box office. Disney’s reimagining of the classic fairy tale “Rapunzel,” which features the vocal talents of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, raked in $3.4 million at the box office. Friday’s haul pushes the film’s total estimated gross to $104 million. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” added a few coins to its already stuffed bank on Friday, coming in fourth place. The latest flick in the blockbuster wizard saga pulled in $2.4 million, a figure which nudges the “Potter” tally to around $251 million. “Unstoppable” still pumped along in theaters, coming in fifth place on Friday. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine’s locomotive thriller rang up around $1.2 million in ticket receipts as it entered the weekend. The film’s total estimated gross now stands at about $71 million. Check out everything we’ve got on “Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader,” “The Tourist” and “Tangled.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.

‘Glee’ Production Shut Down By Tonsillitis

Entertainment Weekly reports that an outbreak among castmembers has halted production until Monday. By Mawuse Ziegbe The cast of “Glee” Photo: FOX The cast of “Glee” won’t be belting out any big numbers this weekend. According to Entertainment Weekly, production Friday on the hit show was put on hold until Monday due to an outbreak of tonsillitis among its crooning castmembers. The crew was reportedly toiling away on a musical number slated to appear on an episode following the Super Bowl in February. Although EW didn’t specify which stars were ailing, Dianna Agron blogged about laid up in bed with an illness. “Note to self…should have gotten a flu shot,” she wrote Friday. “In bed, hoping that medicine, soup, my computer and a marathon of movies will be the cure.” The break will be brief, however, as the show is expected to resume production on Monday. Details about the forthcoming Super Bowl episode have been trickling out recently. The “Glee” cast will reportedly take on Michael Jackson’s game-changing smash “Thriller” and mash up the track with another soon-to-be-revealed hit. Jams from the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum will also be revamped by the McKinley High kids. A recent on-set snap of Lea Michele may also give another clue about the upcoming episode. Michele, who plays songbird Rachel Berry , was shot decked out in football gear earlier this week. In August Michele revealed her dream guest star for the Super Bowl episode: Justin Timberlake . “I think they are saving Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl episode,” Michele told The Hollywood Reporter. “They have to be, because he is so perfect for our show. He has to be on it! When I met Jessica Biel, like a loser, I asked her to tell Justin to come on our show. [Laughs.] She was a little taken aback and said, ‘Um, OK. I’ll tell him.’ ” Are you looking forward to the post-Super Bowl “Glee” episode? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos Musical ‘Glee-Caps’ Of Season Two Related Photos The Year In ‘Glee’

Virulent Infection Ravages The Cast Of Glee

A malevolent virus stalks the halls of McKinley High and has already felled many of even the most hale members of the Glee club. And while it would be cool to imagine it’s some weird zombie virus (Rachel Berry was born to stalk the earth for delicious brains!), it’s actually just a nasty case of tonsillitis. Filming of their post-Super Bowl special was halted to give the poor sickies the weekend off, but will resume on Monday. For once, young Hollywood types are actually suffering from exhaustion rather than just too much blow and whiskey. It’s a Christmas miracle! [ EW ]

Lea Michele and Chris Colfer Tackle Evita: You Must Love Them?

“Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” is a Patti LuPone classic, a Madonna career-changer, a standard of the American stage, and now… yet another symbol of Rachel Berry’s haughty elitism. Yep, Glee , Lea Michele, and — strangely — Chris Colfer are attacking Andrew Lloyd Webber’s salute to Eva Peron, and the audio is ready for your constructive criticism and/or scoffs and/or LGBT sympathies.

‘Glee’ Star Lea Michele Tells Ellen She Almost Ran Into Jon Bon Jovi

‘He smiled nicely,’ she recalled of the near car crash on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ By Rochell D. Thomas Lea Michele Photo: Getty Images When it comes to covering pop tunes, Lea Michele is a pro. But when it comes to driving, the “Glee” star is in need of some help. It turns out Michele, known adoringly to Gleeks as Rachel Berry, is a terrible driver — or so she said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday (May 4) during her appearance to promote the sold-out “Glee” tour. A native of Bronx, New York, Michele moved to Los Angeles to shoot the Fox series. (She shares a place with co-star Dianna Agron, who plays Quinn). And though she has only lived there for little more than a year, she has already had two noteworthy car accidents. In one, she admittedly fled the scene, and in the other, she nearly killed a rock star. The first accident occurred minutes before her final audition for “Glee.” Michele told Ellen that she was “turning into the Fox lot” when she “got into a terrible car crash” in the intersection. No one was injured. But to keep from being late, Michele said she “left my car in the street and ran up the lot for my audition.” Fast-forward to April 2010, and the 23-year-old starlet copped to almost hitting Jon Bon Jovi. “I was reversing on Robertson,” she said of the incident, which happened last week. “I pulled into the intersection and realized I was too late to make a left turn, so I reversed. And my friend was like, ‘Yeah, you almost hit Jon Bon Jovi.’ ” Michele, who made her professional acting debut as an 8-year-old playing Young Cosette in Broadway’s “Les Mis
