Senator, Your days are numbered.

“Politicians are like diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason.” — Mark Twain http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/firetherulingclass#signForm In the time when our founding fathers drafted our Constitution, and created the U.S Government, they did not intend on government service to become a career. It is the purpose of this petition to be the voice of the people to limit the terms of Senators to two (12 years maximum), and Representatives to six terms (12 years maximum). (Reelections have stayed above 85% since 1965, and in 2008 are at 94%) – http://www.firetherulingclass.org/ruling.asp In March 21, 1947, the Twenty-second Amendment (Amendment XXII) was ratified, and so set limits to the office of The President…but none for anyone else. The last ratified Amendment in the constitution was in 1992, and dealt with issue of their pay raises. No such limits have been proposed, or ratified for the very people who write the laws which impact our daily lives. “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” -Lord Acton In a time when our nation seems so polarized by either left, or right; this one thing, I hope we all can agree upon. We do not need members in Congress or the House, who ignore the voice of the people, or who lend an ear to the highest bidder. We do not need Legislators who grow comfortable with their seat, and do all they can to latch on to it. We need leaders, representatives who heed our voice, and perform a service to the people of these United States. It is not a seat of power to be used to make oneself a fortune, but should be used to better the lives of all. I propose this be added as the 28th Amendment of the Constitution. (for the benefit of all) ” XXViii Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of Senator more than twice, and no person who has held the office of Senator, or acted as Senator, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected Senator shall be elected to the office of Senator more than twice (two six-year terms). This article shall be retroactive when applied. Those who currently serve as Senator shall stay for the remainder of the term. Those who have served a prior, consecutive term, will not be eligible for reelection. Those who have served two or more prior consecutive terms will also be ineligible for reelection, upon ratification, and there after. Section 2. No person shall be elected to the office of Representative more than six terms (one term is for two years), and no person who has held the office of Representative, or acted as Representative, for more than eleven years of a term to which some other person was elected Representative shall be elected to the office of Representative more than six terms. This article shall be retroactive when applied. Those who currently serve as Representative shall stay for the remainder of there term. Those who have served a prior six consecutive terms, will not be eligible for reelection. ” Section 3. The terms and length of service for Senators and Representatives shall not be changed or abridged by the United States or by any State. Only a popular vote, won by no less than 85% of US Citizens shall over turn the limits. added by: mitekillem

A G.O.P. Leader Tightly Bound to Lobbyists – NYTimes.com

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2010/09/12/us/politics/Boehner/Boehner-artic… House Democrats were preparing late last year for the first floor vote on the financial regulatory overhaul when Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio and other Republican leaders summoned more than 100 industry lobbyists and conservative political activists to Capitol Hill for a private strategy session. The bill’s passage in the House already seemed inevitable. But Mr. Boehner and his deputies told the Wall Street lobbyists and trade association leaders that by teaming up, they could still perhaps block its final passage or at least water it down. “We need you to get out there and speak up against this,” Mr. Boehner said that December afternoon, according to three people familiar with his remarks, while also warning against cutting side deals with Democrats. That sort of alliance — they won a few skirmishes, though they lost the war on the regulatory bill — is business as usual for Mr. Boehner, the House minority leader and would-be speaker if Republicans win the House in November. He maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R. J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS. added by: toyotabedzrock

Lady Gaga Poses As Lady Liberty On Magazine Cover

Pop star poses alongside Marc Jacobs for the New York issue of V Magazine. By James Dinh Lady Gaga on the cover of V Magazine Photo: V Magazine, LLC As evidenced by her recent well-publicized attendance at a Mets game and her glorious Madison Square Garden show, Lady Gaga has always repped for her hometown of New York City. So it’s no surprise that Gaga is paying tribute to the Big Apple by posing as the Statue of Liberty alongside fashion guru Marc Jacobs on the fall cover of V Magazine . Posing with Jacobs, a shopping cart and an old TV set, Gaga stands with her mouth slightly open in a black lace bra and panties with a gray dress sliding off her body. With her toned abs and her hair shaped into a crown, the pop star is holding a burning torch, mimicking the New York landmark. And while Gaga does her best impression of the neoclassical sculpture, Jacobs remains serious and firm, sitting on top of the television in a traditional black-and-white suit. In another photo, the singer is seen crouched in the carriage as she’s pushed around by the fashion designer with her torch held high. Just last year, the singer appeared on the fall issue of the magazine donning Jacobs-designed pieces. In the issue, which is on sale now, V Magazine highlights some of New York’s most profound figures, people they say “are making the city their own way.” Editor Stephen Gan revealed that he chose the pop star because her representative values parallel those of the magazine. “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion,” he said in a statement. “She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city.” Gan declared Gaga “a bonafide genius” and credited her as V Magazine ‘s “muse” of inspiration. “Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!” he concluded. But the singer doesn’t always leave fashion editors with the best impression. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour spoke about the pop star during her stop at “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday. “We had Lady Gaga this year,” she said of the singer’s performance at this year’s Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala. “She was communing with God and she was praying in the back, waiting for God to tell her it was all right to actually go onstage.” Wintour chuckled before revealing that Gaga left the audience waiting for more than 40 minutes. Open Thread: ‘The Blue State Tax Preference Act’

Democrats from wealthy districts are torn: they really want to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans, but the problem is many of those Americans hail from their own districts! What to do . One irony of the tax increase that arrives on January 1 is that the it will hit residents of high-income, Democratic-leaning states like California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York the hardest. This is a problem for pro-tax Democrats. Enter New York Representative Jerrold Nadler, who wants to exempt his own six-figure constituents from the tax hike he supports. Mr. Nadler’s bill would “require the IRS to adjust tax brackets proportionally in regions where the average cost of living is higher than the national average.” In other words, the various tax brackets would apply to residents in certain regions at higher income levels versus other parts of the country. A family with an income of $50,000 or even $1 million in Manhattan would pay less federal income tax than a family with the same earnings in Omaha. The bill is called the Tax Equity Act, but a more accurate title would be the Blue State Tax Preference Act. Really, did you expect anything less?

California Sues Fannie and Freddie to Save PACE

photo via flickr Last month, I wrote about how Representatives Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and Representative Barney Frank, chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, sent a letter to the Obama Administration trying to save PACE, the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program, which allows homeowners to finance their own solar panels or energy-savings retrofits by an addition to their property tax bill. Now California Attorney General Jerry Brown is suing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, w… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Oil Generation’s Representative Barton Personal Apologies Extended To BP Executive

In my lifetime we’ve had the Beats, the Hippies, the Cold Warriors, the Boomers, X’ers, and the Y’rs and more. One term captures them all and that is Oil Generations . If we had to nominate a present-day King symbolize what united, fueled and lubed us all these years, it would be hard to chose between Representative Joe Barton, R-Texas and Tony Hayward, CEO of British Petroleum. To demonstrate, have a look at this excerpt from today’s Congressional hearing on the BP gusher. As

Chris Matthews: Etheridge ‘Ambushed By Activists’ ‘Ginning Up A Skirmish’

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Monday said, “Democratic Congressman Bob Etheridge of North Carolina was ambushed by a group of unknown activists.” The “Hardball” host began his report on the Congressman’s attack on two students asking whether he supported President Obama’s agenda, “Next: ginning up a skirmish.” This came just a few hours after Matthews’ colleague Tamron Hall made similar on air allegations concerning the incident. Obviously, the folks at MSNBC have decided to present Etheridge as the innocent victim and the students he attacked as the guilty parties. Matthews ended the brief report, “By the way, no word yet on who those self-proclaimed students working on a project are” (video follows with transcript and commentary, h/t Freedom’s Lighthouse ):  CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Next: ginning up a skirmish. Democratic Congressman Bob Etheridge of North Carolina was ambushed by a group of unknown activists last week, and didn`t like it much. An edited version of the video first appeared on the Web site of a former Drudge Report editor. Here it is. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Do you fully support the Obama agenda? REP. BOB ETHERIDGE (D), NORTH CAROLINA: Who are you? Who are you? Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Whoa! ETHERIDGE: Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Whoa! ETHERIDGE: Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m here for a project, sir. ETHERIDGE: Tell me who you are. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re just here for a project, sir. ETHERIDGE: Tell me who you are. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re just here for a project. (CROSSTALK) UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir, could you please let go of my hand? ETHERIDGE: Who are you? Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Please let go of my arm, sir. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir… ETHERIDGE: Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir, sir, sir, please… UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Congressman, please let go of me. ETHERIDGE: Who are you? UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. (END VIDEO CLIP) MATTHEWS: Well, after that video spread over the Internet, today, Congressman Etheridge issued a statement saying: “I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction. And I apologize to all involved.” By the way, no word yet on who those self-proclaimed students working on a project are. The bias on display here is both staggering and quite disturbing. Let’s assume for moment that these young men were activists. Is it against the law for activists to approach an elected official with a camera and ask a question concerning his or her position on an issue? These young men asked the Congressman, “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?” Is that verboten? If John McCain had won in November of 2008, and liberal activists got attacked by a Republican Congressman simply for asking, “Do you fully support the McCain agenda,” Matthews, MSNBC, and virtually every news outlet would be calling for this representative’s resignation. Instead, MSNBC on at least two occasions Monday defended the Congressman’s actions while condemning the students he attacked. Of course, this ignores the possibility that these were just students doing a project and they weren’t activists at all. What should most concern readers is if the folks at MSNBC have become so overwhelmed by their support for Obama and the Democrat Party that they are willing to go on the air and defend Etheridge’s actions while condemning those who HE could be guilty of assault and battery against, it is THEY that are the activists. That’s quite a statement about today’s so-called journalists, wouldn’t you agree?

$500 Wasted on eBay Lingerie (Internet Horror Stories)

Filed under: Internet Horror Stories Several years ago, I was unemployed and looking for a way to make money. After doing a little research (too little, I must admit), I discovered that plus-sized lingerie was a hot seller online. I browsed the Internet and found a wholesale lingerie supplier who sold what I needed. I freed my credit card from its hidden location, removed the dust, and placed an order for $500.00 worth of frilly plus-sized lingerie. Then, I set up an eBay store and waited for my shipment to arrive. The next day, I received a phone call from the supplier. Item by item, the representative told me that my selections were out of stock. He informed me that he could send replacement items of the same values. I happily agreed. I just wanted my merchandise as soon as possible so that I could start building my empire. When the lingerie arrived, it was several sizes smaller than I had hoped. It was still lovely sherbet-colored lingerie, so I still expected it to sell vigorously. I took pictures, created listings and waited for the orders to roll in. They never did. Even when I lowered the prices of the items and included free shipping, the merchandise still sat unwanted in boxes in my basement. Eventually, I donated all those thongs and baby-dolls to charity. I hope someone is enjoying them. Share It took me a year to pay off my credit card. previously:// More Internet Horror Stories on Urlesque Continue reading

Lady Gaga’s Satirical Amputation Rumor Is NOT TRUE

Lady Gaga recently created a maddening stir of the rumors of having her leg amputated. It really seemed true, I for once believed, commented and reacted to bruits. Fortunately, this rumor is not true. Lady Gaga just THOUGHT it would be cool and “different.” Good thing…I never wanted to idolize someone who has a sick mind…hahhah..(that’s my personal opinion) As per Lady Gaga’s hermaphrodite rumor, well, it is no issue at all.  People, especially who are close to her, can say that she’s all-female. Her record label was asked to confirm, deny or clear-up the amputation rumor and the representative said “It’s not true,” Lady Gaga, for one, is considered a touring machine. With all those concerts, tapings..I think this is remotely possible. According to where this rumor had started, it was said that it is the work of Britain’s Daily Squib, which posted a peg-leg photo and an article about Gaga’s “new look.” Lady Gaga’s Satirical Amputation Rumor Is NOT TRUE is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
