Xbox Live’s Game Room Not Getting More Games Until Late April

If you’re not happy with the launch lineup for Microsoft’s nostalgia-tinged Game Room service for Xbox Live, it’s going to be a few weeks before the arcade sees some changes. A Microsoft representative responded to questions in the official Xbox message boards about the next wave of Game Room additions and clarified the next wave wouldn’t arrive until sometime in late April. “Just wanted to provide some clarification on when you can expect to see new games up on Game Room, as there appears to be some confusion around that area,” said the representative. “New games will be added to the service every week, starting in late April. “In the meantime, the team would love to see your feedback on the current set of games and the games you’d like to see in the future.” To be honest, I still haven’t downloaded Game Room (a combination of PAX East fatigue and my spare time being spent making progress in the great

Congressional Ban on Earmarks Sends Lobbyists Scrambling

Jolted by a sudden tightening of the rules, lobbyists and military contractors who have long relied on lucrative earmarks from Congress were scrambling to find new ways to keep the federal money flowing. House Republicans, seeking to outdo the Democrats in ethics reform, went even further Thursday by agreeing to swear off all earmarks, for both nonprofit and commercial organizations, for the next year. “This is the best day we’ve had in a while,” said Representative Jeff Flake, an Arizona Republican who has been a fierce opponent of earmarks — no-bid contracts directed by lawmakers — but had found little support among Republican colleagues before this week. “In terms of us getting this moratorium, the stars were aligned. What the Democrats did certainly motivated the Republicans.” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/12/us/politics/12lobby.html?hp added by: jeffissleeping

Utah Governor Signs Controversial Law Charging Women and Girls With Murder for Miscarriages

On Monday afternoon, a controversial Utah bill that charges pregnant women and girls with murder for having miscarriages caused by “intentional or knowing” acts, was signed into law by Gov. Gary Herbert. Contrary to media reports last week, the “Criminal Homicide and Abortion Amendments” or HB12, which previously also applied to miscarriages caused by “reckless” acts, was never “withdrawn” by its sponsor, Republican Representative Carl Wimmer (who is crafting similar “model legislation” for other states). After the governor expressed concern over “possible unintended consequences,” of the legislation as written, Rep. Wimmer swiftly introduced a new version, titled “Criminal Homicide and Abortion Revisions” (HB462), which omitted the word “reckless.” Gov. Herbert signed the new bill and vetoed the old one. In a letter to legislative leaders on Monday, the governor wrote: “I appreciate the willingness of Representative Wimmer to reevaluate the impact of potential unintended consequences arising from the inclusion of 'reckless' behavior in HB12. HB 462 is more consistent with the true intent of the legislation and addresses those situations in which the termination of a pregnancy is intentional and is not conducted at a physician's direction.” more at link… added by: WakeUpPeople

Hello, I’m Jim Donnelly from the Internet!

I guess this guy has taken it upon himself to be the representative for all Internet. Personally, I wouldn't mind someone with a little less of a “molester” vibe, but I think we're in good hands. Let's have some fun! Contribute: Add an image, link, video or comment

Landmark Health Care Reform Bill Passes House 220-215

WASHINGTON — Handing President Obama a hard-fought victory, the House narrowly approved a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s health care system on Saturday, advancing legislation that the Democrats said could be their defining social policy achievement. After a daylong clash with Republicans over what has been a Democratic goal for decades, lawmakers voted 220 to 215 to approve a plan that would cost $1.1 trillion over 10 years and that Democrats said would provide relief to Americans struggling to buy or hold on to health insurance.
