Charles Manson, arguably the most famous mass murder currently serving time behind bars, has found a woman who wants to be his lawfully wedded wife. The serial killer, who is serving a life sentence for slaughtering Sharon Tate and six other victims, was granted a marriage license today, according to The Associated Press. The 80-year old is set to marry Afton Elaine Burton, a 26-year old who runs a Charles Manson fansite. Burton left her Midwestern home nine years ago to move to Corcoran, California, the site of the prison in which Manson is incarcerated. She has dedicated her life to proclaiming his innocence. “I love him,” Burton told The AP. “I’m with him. There’s all kinds of things.” Burton says the ceremony will take place next month behind prison walls. The can invite up to 10 free people, but are not permitted to have any conjugal visits. The marriage license does not indicate a wedding date, but says the pair has 90 days to get married or they will have to reapply. Manson became notorious in 1969 as the leader of a roving “family” of young murderers.
