We’re pretty sure we’ve made our feelings on Nirvana covers clear; in general, we’re against them. But rules don’t seem to apply to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has been consistently wonderful ever since the first time we saw him on 3rd Rock from the Sun. So, we’re not surprised that we actually find his cover of Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Flavorwire Discovery Date : 25/08/2011 21:00 Number of articles : 2

First Clip from T&A-Free Shark Night 3D Teases T&A

With a name like Shark Night 3D — and a trailer that highlights bikini-clad co-eds and shark attacks — you would be right to assume that the upcoming David R. Ellis-directed film would be packed to the gills with boobs and blood. As the director told Movieline at Comic-Con , however, it’s not. “This movie is just a really smart, well-written movie with great character arcs, great twists, without having to have gratuitous nudity or language. Jaws was PG-13. The Birds . All those really great horror films.” Fair points, David! Though you might want to tell the marketing department, since the first clip from Shark Night teases gratuitous nudity and some shark-related ultra-violence.

Should James Franco Get Top Billing in Rise of the Planet of the Apes?

Since the first trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes debuted online three months ago one thing about the film stood out. Not that apes can apparently defeat an army of riot police and helicopters by merely jumping around, but that James Franco was tasked as the film’s lead. “We it call the cure for Alzheimer’s,” he intones with a super-serious acting voice. Sounds good, believable scientist! Of course, maybe that’s the trick of Rise of the Planet of the Apes ; Franco is but merely impeccably tailored set dressing hiding the real star of the show: Andy Serkis.

REBEL from Zoltan on Vimeo . Since the first Gulf War, we have marvelled at the speed with which media can report the world’s latest developments back to us. Rounding out this experience has been the more recent development of receiving non-media reports or comments (e.g., civilian use of social media, the arts) on these same events. Egypt has been an unusual case because of the governmental shut-down… Broadcasting platform : Vimeo Source : prefixmag Discovery Date : 05/02/2011 19:14 Number of articles : 2

Color Of Change Goes After Fox News With Free ‘Turn Off Fox’ Stickers

Topping the internet’s most popular news aggregators today is the no-strings-attached offer by grassroots, web-based organization ColorOfChange.org to provide anyone who wants one a “Turn Off FOX” sticker, free of charge (yes, even shipping). And who isn’t a fan of free things? Or simple bumper sticker activism for that matter. And while, most casual liberals may see this as a random grassroots giveaway, but it’s actually a part of Color of Change’s long struggle against FOX News. Color of Change first seriously battled the network last summer, when they lead the charge of getting advertisers to drop Glenn Beck after he said President Obama held a “deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.“ Then in September, Glenn Beck got his revenge when a petition saying the Bush administration “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen” was found with the signature of Color of Change founder Van Jones on it. Though Jones vehemently denied this was a stance he held, the damage was done and he was forced to resign as Obama’s Green Jobs Czar. Now today, the organization is striking again by giving out these “Turn Off FOX” stickers to anyone in America willing to sign a petition saying FOX is “spreading hate, lies and division.” FOX and ColorOfChange.org have had a long and conflict-filled history. So perhaps as the people who chose to do so are putting these stickers on their cars, they get reminded that it’s also time we all learn to Coexist. added by: TimALoftis

Is the recession causing you to live within your means, and less on credit?

The Associated Press reported today that credit card debt has dropped to the lowest level in more than eight years as cardholders continue to pay off balances. The average combined debt for credit cards fell to $4,951 in the past quarter, which is down over 13%. This is the first quarter that credit card debt has fallen since the first quarter of 2002. During these tough economic times, with predictions of a double dip recession looming, cardholders are paying off debt and consumers are embracing a new trend of frugality. But is this a permanent change, or are we just biding time until we can go back to our old spending habits? What do you think—are Americans finally learning to live within our means, or is this just a temporary arrangement? added by: sgwhites

Saving Sarah Palin

There has been an ocean of discussion about Sarah Palin, ever since the moment she took to the stage at the Republican National Convention in 2008. Ms. Palin has encouraged the discussion by making statements that, to me, seemed to be ignorant, insane, or both. As anyone who visits Current.com knows, I have been in love with Sarah since the first time I saw her beautiful face and delicious legs, and, earlier this week I was shocked and chastened to learn things about her which changed my feelings. The recent YouTube video, reposted on Current, that shows Sarah being upbraided by an Alaskan schoolteacher, started me on the path to a new appraisal. I was puzzled by Sarah's confounded reaction to the teacher's criticism, because it seemed Sarah was absolutely stumped as to how to react when the teacher asked her how she was protecting the Constitution. Then, when I looked further down the page on the Current posting, I saw that someone had posted the results of an IQ test that Sarah took as a schoolgirl. On the test, she scored an 83. According to Terman's Stanford-Binet Second Revision classification, Sarah Palin's IQ of 83 puts her into the “Dullness” category (Lewis Terman, developer of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence test). You can see the link below this video to examine the table for yourself. It's apparent that not only is Sarah wrong about most of what she says, she's too dull to even understand it. My earlier suspicions that the conservatives trotted her out to get votes have been confirmed. Here is a woman ill-equipped to do much more than interact with a family in a safe environment, yet she was placed in a position of power and authority by a cynical group of predators who are willing to ruin her life in order to gain political power. This same gang of crooks fulminated against Bill Clinton for his abuse of women. From now on I urge you to do what you can to save Sarah Palin from this sick and corrupt band of pimps who have willingly exposed her and her family to a torrent of attention and abuse. My postings here are almost always meant to make you laugh, but there is nothing funny about using an incompetent woman as a lure for votes and political power. That's just simple prostitution, and the last I heard, that's illegal in all 50 states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_reference_chart added by: Progresshiv
