Why The Death Of Rapper Craig Mack Scared Me [Op-Ed]

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty   Let’s get straight to it. This is why the Craig Mack death spooked me. I’m 36. 10 years younger than Mack. I work in an industry that may be fun, you meet a lot of people, get free shit at events (food and drinks be love) but it puts a lot of wear and tears on your body. Listening to mogs talking that “No Sleep till I’d dead” shit will have you dead, early. I remember feeling like I had to put in a lot of work to get to where I wanted to go and overworking myself to the point I was in the hospital. I prided myself on never having to get an IV in me let alone have a hospital stay and my ass was in there ashy as hell. At that point, shit changed… Now I got a family. READ:  Rap Pioneer Craig Mack Dead At 46 And my ass was almost in the same position with a monitor on my chest to see if anything was wrong with my heart. I’m good though, thanks for asking. But I do wonder if all that partying and no sleep shit may have taken a toll on me that would catch up eventually. Then Phonte dropped an album with a song talking about the same shit. The Mack dies at 46 due to Heart Failure… 46. I eat a lot better. That might be the biggest blessing being away from Chicago cause between Harolds, Remus, El Gran and my moms, I’d be 320 pounds again. I walk a lot. Go to the gym in my complex now (cause its dope). I am working on it. Try not to let shit stress me out (NOW THATS THE HARD ONE). But I’m not trying to leave my family soon at all. 10 years away from 46. Men, make sure you go to the doctor. Get your sleep. Eat right. I remember growing up in Chicago in the 90’s trying to make it to 18. Now, I’m trying to live to see my grandkids and great-grandkids grow up. Awkward Bikini in the Snow Dance of the Day

It’s cold as fuck where I am and I don’t have the resources thanks to not investing all the money I never had into start-ups in 2008 like I was Ashton Kutcher, you know to get a piece of everyone’s pie, making me a billionaire.. Instead I focused on bullshit dog shit money, probably the worst money a site with the traffic I used to get could get, because I just cared about drinking… So that now I can’t afford a nice insulated house with state of the art, or really any heating system.. Instead, I’m in a cold as fuck, damp as fuck, basement with a spaceheater than may kill us in our sleep.. What better way to celebrate winter, and the bullshit that is winter, than see some woman we don’t know awkwardly dance in a bikini for social media.. If you don’t like that’ – here’s a bikini snow angel… The post Awkward Bikini in the Snow Dance of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Shannon Beador: Fine, Vicki Gunvalson DIDN’T Make Me Fat!

Shannon Beador was stressed out, and put on some weight. She’s a human and it happens. In her unhappiness over the situation, Shannon seemed to be accusing The Real Housewives of Orange County costar Vicki Gunvalson of “causing” the weight gain, which did not go over well. Fortunately, Shannon’s nowchanged her tune, and she says that she knows exactly where to point the finger. Shannon Beador faced some backlash for blaming her weight gain on Vicki Gunvalson . “This is stress!” Shannon exclaimed, referring to her torso. “And that is Vicki Gunvalson!” We’re not questioning that Vicki Gunvalson might be stress-inducing. Or that stress can contribute to weight gain, because it absolutely can. But drawing a direct link between her figure and Vicki was pushing the boundaries of absurdity a little, you know? Like, Vicki Gunvalson is many things, but she isn’t a witch who goes around cursing her costars to gain weight. (As far as we know) So unless Vicki has been feeding Shannon in her sleep or interfering with her DNA (genetics are usually the real culprits behind fat storage, anyway), we don’t see how Fortunately, Shannon isn’t actually as disconnected from reality as she seemed. Shannon is taking full accountability, now, addressing her weight gain in an interview. Which is good, because she got blasted by people for deflecting the “blame.” “I just went off the wagon a little.” No, she doesn’t mean boozing it up, though that’s a great way to pack on the pounds. She clearly means food: “I’m the one that put the stuff in my mouth.” ( That’s a quote that could be fun out of context) She’s been fairly upfront about her struggle, and even released a statement about her weight gain over Instagram: “So let’s just get to it. Yes, I have gained weight. A lot of weight. About 40 pounds to be exact.” That was over an eight month period. Gaining five pounds in a month might not be a big deal, but it is if the next seven months go the same way. “I have not had plastic surgery or fillers, it’s just plain and simple weight gain.” Good way to shut down rumors of surgery-gone-wrong. “There are multiple factors that have contributed to my size and it will be addressed this season on the show.” That must be so hard, right? “To those people who intend to write cruel or derogatory comments to me, I want to let you know you will be blocked and the comment deleted.” That’s the best way to deal with body-shamers and trolls anyway. “Gaining weight and trying to take it off is a struggle that most women will face at some point in their lives.” Most men, too — but unlike women, men’s perceived value in society is seldom equated with their appearance. (Thanks, patriarchal cultural norms!) “I am hopeful that my fans and viewers of the show will be supportive of my journey.” Of course they should be supportive. Whether she’s successful in losing the weight (she’s already knocked off eight pounds through diet and exercise) or not, people shouldn’t body-shame her. “I am very grateful and thankful to those people that have already reached out to me with their kind thoughts” It’s good to have a support mechanism. If you’ll recall, the original source of stress for Shannon Beador was rumors that her husband was abusing her. Rumors coming from, or at least spread by, Vicki Gunvalson. (If true, that would be awful — and only further reason to support Shannon Beador, but Shannon seems horrified and enraged and calls the rumors “false”) Shannon was super upset about the allegations and how, if made public (and they were), they might impact her husband and her children. So she did some stress-eating. Vicki Gunvalson does seem like a toxic person who seems to create rifts with everyone she knows, even former friends like Tamra Judge . But the stress-eating was definitely Shannon’s doing. It was her choice, conscious or not, for how to cope. It’s good that she’s acknowledging that, because that’s the only way to move forward and return to the figure that she wants.

Powers Boothe Dies; Veteran Actor Was 68 Years Old

Powers Boothe, a veteran actor of both the big screen and the small screen, died on Sunday in his sleep. He was 68 years old. According to publicist Karen Samfilippo, Boothe passed away inside his Los Angeles home from natural causes. A private service will be held for him this week in his native state of Texas, while his family is contemplating a more public memorial at some point in the future. Beau Bridges, another long-time star in the industry, Tweeted confirmation of the sad news on Sunday afternoon, writing the following message: Boothe was mostly known for portraying fictional villains, from saloon owner Cy Tolliver on HBO’s Deadwood to one of his more recent appearances on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He grew up on a Texas farm and began his acting career on stage, starring in a number of Shakespearean productions, including Henry IV. After becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college, he made his Broadway debut in the 1970s in Lone Star & Pvt. Wars. In 1980, Boothe won an Emmy Award for lead actor in a limited series or special for playing cult leader Jim Jones in CBS’ Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. He took home that trophy during an actors strike and decided to cross the picket line to accept it, saying at the time: “This may be either the bravest moment of my career or the dumbest.” Boothe also was nominated two ensemble SAG Awards, first in 1996 alongside the cast of Nixon and then again in 2007 with the cast of Deadwood. He’s probably best known to current movie goers for having players Senator Roark in the Sin City franchise. Also in the film universe, he portrayed Alexander Haig in Nixon (1995)… a sheriff in another Oliver Stone movie, U Turn (1997)… and was unforgettable as the evil gunman Curly Bill Brocius in Tombstone (1993). Boothe played Connie Britton’s father on Nashville and the President of the United States on a season of 24. “I loved acting with you #PowersBoothe you were a gentlemen and a great actor,” wrote Lea Thompson in response to Boothe’s passing. His Deadwood co-star, Garret Dillahunt, described the star on Facebook as “a formidable adversary, baseball lover and poser hater,” adding as a tribute: “Give em hell Powers.” In 2009, Boothe was inducted in the Texas Film Hall of Fame, along with actor and singer Billy Bob Thornton. Those who wish to honor the late star can send donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which assists the country’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need. 14 Stunning Caitlyn Jenner Quotes from Her Memoir

Caitlyn Jenner says she doesn't really talk to the Kardashians anymore . And the Kardashians have said they don't really want to talk to Caitlyn, either, mostly due to things she wrote about herself and her family in her new memoir, “The Secrets of My Life.” With this book making many headlines and stirring up quite a few controversies, we bought ourselves a copy and jotted down the most revealing Caitlyn Jenner quotes, stories and revelations. Scroll through each below… 1. She tried on her mom’s dresses as a child “Even then, I felt the sense of freedom that I would experience 30 or 40 years later in hotel rooms and lobbies.” 2. Following the 1976 Olympics, Jenner dressed in drag for a skit on a Bob Hope special “I have to be careful not to show too much enthusiasm, so I play it cool, guy’s guys dressing up like a woman… Our wigs and dresses are purposely ridiculous. But the red heels I think not only look good on me but also fit, so I steal them after the show.” 3. He came out to his first wife by accident “I told Chrystie in 1973 about my gender issues. It wasn’t by choice: she was putting clothes away and noticed a rubber band on one of the hooks of her bra. When she asked me about it, my first response was noncommittal.” 4. Her marriage to second wife, Linda, ended when she caught him in women’s clothing “In that room I felt she was revolted by me. I know she did not mean to, but her reaction was my greatest fear realized.” 5. A friend once spotted Caitlyn, dressed in drag while driving his Porsche, forcing Jenner to say he was wearing a costume for Halloween “I’m driving on Santa Monica Boulevard… and am at a stoplight when my next-door neighbor pulls up to me. I can tell he is surprised… it was a close call.” 6. She uses households items to help her look more feminine, such as when it comes to sticking her wig on tightly “There is only one drawback to Krazy Glue: it can sometimes stick to your skin so much that it takes a little piece of skin with it when you pull it off.” View Slideshow
