The sax player’s longtime friend, Bruce Springsteen shared news of the E Street Band member’s condition on Monday (June13). In a statement to MTV News, the Boss said, “By now, many of you have heard that our beloved comrade and sax player Clarence Clemons has suffered a serious stroke. While all initial signs are encouraging, Clarence will need much care and support to achieve his potential once again. He has his wonderfully supportive wife, Victoria, excellent doctors and health care professionals, and is surrounded by friends and family.” Springsteen, who has been working with Clemons for nearly four decades, went on to thank his fans for all of their well-wishes. “I thank you all for your prayers and positive energy and concern,” he said. “This is a time for us all to share in a hopeful spirit that can ultimately inspire Clarence to greater heights.” Lady Gaga, who featured Clemons on her Born This Way track “Edge of Glory,” asked her Little Monsters to send the musician some love via video messages on Monday. And Gaga took to Twitter again to share her feelings about the saxophonist. “In bed with Mommy thinking about Clarence, I can’t wait for you to see the beautiful video we made together,” she wrote. “He’s a really special person.” (At press time, there were still no details about when the video will be released.) A rep for Springsteen noted that a special email address has been created for fans to send get-well wishes Clemons’ way. They can send messages to notestoclarence@clarenceclemons.com. The rep added, “It is for notes only and not an information site and no one will be able to respond right now.” Send your well-wishes to Clarence Clemons in the comments below. Clarence Clemons, Sax Player For Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Suffers Stroke

E Street Band member, 69, suffered stroke in his home in Florida. By Jocelyn Vena Clarence Clemons Photo: Getty Clarence Clemons, legendary member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, has suffered a stroke according to The Associated Press. A source close to the saxophonist confirmed to the AP that the 69-year-old suffered the stroke in his Florida home on Sunday night; no further details about his health were currently available at press time. However, Showbiz 411 reported that the musician’s condition is very serious. Most recently, Clemons was featured on Lady Gaga’s massive Born This Way album, appearing on two tracks and performing with her live on “American Idol” last month. Clemons, also known as “The Big Man,” began performing with the E Street Band in 1972, giving an assist on Springsteen’s debut album Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. . In addition to appearing on 20 albums with Springsteen, including the breakthrough Born to Run, he’s worked with a number of other artists including Gaga, Jackson Browne and Ringo Starr. He’s also appeared in films like “New York, New York”and “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” as well as TV shows like “The Wire” and “The Simpsons.” Recently, however, he has had problems with his health, and following the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s tour in 2009, he had to have both knees replaced and a spinal fusion surgery, according to Rolling Stone. But he vowed, “As long as my mouth, hands and brain still work I’ll be out there doing it.” When MTV News caught up with Gaga’s longtime collaborator, Fernando Garibay, the producer recalled how excited Gaga was to hit the studio with one of her icons for the songs “Hair” and her latest single, “Edge of Glory.” “She grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and she goes, ‘Can we get Clarence?’ And I go, ‘Of course we can get Clarence. You’re Lady Gaga!’ ” he said. “You can see the years of influence and you can see her lighting up when he’s playing [with her in the studio].” Send your well-wishes to Clarence Clemons in the comments below. Big Brother Repulsion Index: The Penguin’s Straight Edge

While Jimmy Fallon and Jon Hamm found their inner Springsteen on the Emmys last night , Big Brother tapped into its inner idiot. Producers outfitted some houseguests in penguin costumes and taped them doing normal everyday stuff (shaving, leg presses), robbed the entire household of its silverware and taped the contestants struggling to eat food with their fingers and then, when all of the low-minded fun was had, producers zoomed in on a few conveniently-placed Coke bottles. Below, Movieline ranks the most repulsive characters in last night’s abominable excuse for a reality-show episode.
