Hermione who?   Emma Watson has cast off her Hogwarts uniform and good girl image to play the broken Sam in Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his own novel, The Perks of Being a Wallflower . Last night The Cinema Society, along with Lancome and Nylon, hosted a special screening of the teen flick at the hip Crosby Street Hotel in Soho – just the kind of event the quirky characters in the film would have loved to attend! But their alter egos were there, as Watson was joined by co-stars Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller.  Not only are their performances in the film impressive, but also the respect they have for Chbosky’s novel and the intense issues it addresses. Kelly Clarkson Loses Weight, Finds Love, Goes Blond

‘I have no desire to be super-skinny,’ Stronger singer tells Redbook. By Jocelyn Vena Kelly Clarkson Photo: FilmMagic Kelly Clarkson seems to be feeling “stronger” these days thanks to a healthier lifestyle and a slimmed-down figure. In a new interview with Redbook magazine, the singer talks all about how she lost the weight but said never wants to lose too many pounds. “I do cardio. I run. I strength-train using my own body weight. I don’t like free weights, because I build muscle easily,” she told the magazine. “Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy. I have no desire to be super-skinny.” In addition to sporting a new dress size in the July issue, Clarkson has recently started rocking a new hair color. After being brunette for a while, she was photographed in London on Wednesday with a deep, honey-blond style . She’s in the U.K. promoting her new single, “Dark Size,” as well as her new gig as a mentor on the U.S. singing competition show “Duets.” As one of the show’s coaches, Kelly definitely has wisdom to share, considering her experience as the first-ever “American Idol” winner. She will probably offer the guidance she wished she had during her time on the Fox show. “I’m going to be completely honest: I had no one looking out for me,” she said. “They were looking out for the show, and it was horrible. I was 19 years old. I was smart enough to know that it wasn’t about me, but that didn’t make it any easier. I’m all cried out about it, but my first four years, I hated my life; I almost quit a dozen times.” These days the singer does have someone looking out for her. She met boyfriend Brandon Blackstock through her pal Reba McEntire; Blackstock is the country star’s stepson. Now, the queen of breakup anthems joked that she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop. “I know — where’s the kick in the ass? I told my assistant that today. I said, ‘I’m just waiting for something to blow up.’ She said, ‘No, that’s what happiness is.’ I’m like, ‘Maybe I’ve never been happy!’ Because Brandon does, he makes me happy.” Share your thoughts on Kelly’s new look in the comments section! Emma Watson Puts On Her Best American Accent

British actress tells MTV News how she mastered the accent in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Watson at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California. Photo: WireImage Are you tired of watching the “Perks of Being a Wallflower” trailer yet? Neither are we! Luckily for all of us, MTV News spent some time with the very likable cast at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday in order to glean a few tidbits about the movie , like lovely British actress Emma Watson ‘s first time speaking in an American accent on film. When asked how she mastered the foreign-to-her dialect, Watson thanked her co-stars, Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman . “I had these guys,” Watson said, gesturing to Miller and Lerman as her accent tutors. “These guys were very supportive and they told me when I said things that didn’t really sound right. I worked with a coach and I hung out.” “You hung out!” Miller laughed. “She hung out, that’s how she did it. She hung out.” We decided to put Watson on the spot and test her skills with a request to repeat the following phrase in her best American accent: “Ryan Gosling is so hot.” She did not disappoint, repeating the phrase with gusto. “That was really good,” both Miller and Lerman agreed. Based on the novel by Stephen Chbosky (published by MTV Books), “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” follows high school freshman Charlie (Lerman) as he learns to navigate adolescence with the help of new friends Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller). The movie opens everywhere September 14. Channing Tatum Dishes On ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel Pushback

‘I did my part and then all this stuff is going on,’ Tatum tells MTV News after Movie Awards. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Channing Tatum arrives at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Before Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey graced the 2012 MTV Movie Awards stage with their memorable presentation of the Best On-Screen Transformation award and utterly distracted us, MTV News caught up with Tatum on the red carpet to check in on an entirely different subject. We wanted to know the status of the recently rescheduled release of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” “I don’t know. Truly,” Tatum said when asked if the rumors we’d see more of him in the revamped sequel are true. “I haven’t seen the movie. I did my part and then all this stuff is going on, so they haven’t come to talk to me about anything. They talk about a lot of stuff; who knows if it’s the industry or the actual studio? You never know.” But everything is better with a little more of the “Magic Mike” star in it, right? “Sometimes? I don’t know,” Tatum said. “You have to have the exact right amount of Chan.” “Duh,” Tatum’s lovely wife, Jenna Dewan, answered for her husband. “I say yes.” So no matter our desire for more Tatum, the official studio line on the push-back is that Paramount wants to convert the film into 3-D. They made the move in hopes that adding three dimensions will translate to more impressive international box-office numbers. “We’re going to do a conscientious 3-D job, because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally,” an unnamed studio exec recently said of the switch. “Jim Cameron did all of ‘Titanic’s’ 3-D in post — and look how well that movie turned out.” Other reports indicated that Tatum’s star is now shining too bright to kill his character off early on in the film, as was originally rumored and only partially confirmed by Duke himself. “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” is scheduled to open March 29, 2013. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards ! ‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ Star A ‘Lucky Guy’ To Kiss Emma Watson

Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Watson debuted film’s first trailer during MTV Movie Awards. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Logan Lerman arrives at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Emma Watson and Logan Lerman for Movie Awards Best Kiss in 2013? It could happen! The two actors, along with co-star Ezra Miller , were on hand at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards pre-show to introduce the first trailer for their coming-of-age film ” The Perks of Being a Wallflower ,” an adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s 1999 novel published by MTV Books. The story centers around introverted Charlie (Lerman), who’s lured out of his shell by step-siblings Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller) and introduced to a world of sex, drugs and, of course, rock and roll. Charlie nurses an unrequited crush on newfound friend Sam throughout most of the narrative. And while the trailer only hinted at a few tender moments shared between the two characters, you better believe there will be some lip-locking to be had when the movie hits theaters September 14. And according to Lerman, those scenes weren’t too hard to handle. “It happened in front of a crew, and people were there, and we did it a few times. And that was it,” Lerman recalled of his cinematic smooch with Watson. “It’s kind of odd when you’re doing it for a movie. It’s kind of weird. She’s cool. It wasn’t as awkward as it could have been. It’s Emma Watson, so I’m a lucky guy.” Yet, Lerman couldn’t help but wonder what it would have been like had his impressions of the moment been less than savory. “What if I was complaining, though? ‘Oh, God. I had to kiss that girl!’ ” he joked. We have a feeling a number of actors would have been happy to take your place, Logan. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. ‘Harry Potter’ Star Emma Watson Will Be Back Onscreen Soon

‘My Week With Marilyn’ and ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ are the first two post-‘Potter’ projects Watson lined up. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Watson Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage We hope Emma Watson has already digested her post- “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” brunch. Because now that she’s finished the project that virtually defined a decade of her life, the actress has plenty to look forward to. The 21-year-old starlet did just a few non-“Potter” acting roles during her time with the franchise, only separating herself from Hermione long enough to star in the 2007 BBC film “Ballet Shoes” and lend her voice to 2008’s “Tales of Despereaux.” Now, she has wrapped her first two post-“Potter” films and is excited for people to see her outside of a “Harry Potter” capacity. Up first is the Michelle Williams-starring adaptation of “My Week With Marilyn,” based on Laurence Olivier’s assistant’s account of spending time with Marilyn Monroe (Williams) while she was filming “The Prince and the Showgirl.” Watson plays a character named Lucy who goes on a few dates with leading man Eddie Redmayne. It’s a minor role for a small film (which is slated for release this November), but it’s garnering a lot of attention because of Watson’s involvement. “I’ve seen a trailer for it. It looks pretty amazing,” Watson told MTV News at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. “I mean, Michelle is an incredible actress, and Eddie Redmayne is also in it, so he did a great job.” But her upcoming film that’s getting the most buzz is the Summit Entertainment adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s coming-of-age novel, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Watson plays Sam, the love interest of main character Charlie (played by Logan Lerman). It wrapped shooting several weeks ago, and Watson told us at the Movie Awards that the expectation was to turn it around and get it released quickly. “It’s so funny because I never thought I’d make another sort of high school-esque movie, and here I am in this coming-of-age, American teen [movie],” she said. “But it’s very witty, and it’s very funny and it’s very moving, so I’m excited.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
