Houston police say that officers have shot a suspect who opened fire in the city on Monday morning, taking him into custody before he could take any lives. According to Houston Office of Emergency Management spokesman Michael Walter, a minimum of nine individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries from the shooting. The incident took place near Wesleyan Street and Bissonnet Street. The statuses of those injured are unknown at the moment. There are no reports of any other shooters at this time, per the Houston Police Department official Tweeter feed. It wrote the following shortly after apprehending the suspect, whose name has not yet been released: An emergency alert went out this morning that stated the shooting scene was believed to have been contained to the area of a strip mall. The alert told residents in the area to stay far away. Authorities have not released further details regarding the shooting, according to CNN and other outlets. But KTRK reports that firefighters and police officers swarmed the scene once gunfire broke out. UPDATE : At least one victim is in critical condition, while another is in serious condition. The conditions of the other victims remain unknown. We’re also learned that the suspect was an attorney and that authorities are investigating whether issues at his law firm led to the shooting. A bomb squad reportedly searched the suspect’s vehicle and found “additional weapons inside,” the police now confirm. One witness, Antwon Wilson, told ABC 13 that he was caught in the crossfire. And he’ll never forget the experience. “I literally heard the gunshots past my face,” he told the station. “It’s a hard pill to swallow.” We will continue to update this story as more news breaks.

LAPD Killed 14-Year-Old Suspect After He Allegedly Shot At Them Another day, another cop catches a body. Via CNN Los Angeles police shot and killed a 14-year-old boy after he shot at the officers, police said Wednesday. The department’s gang unit was investigating a vandalism call in a neighborhood east of downtown around 5:35 p.m. Tuesday when they encountered two youths. One ran off and two officers pursued, police said. “According to a witness who saw the subject running from the officers, the witness saw the subject shoot a handgun in the direction of the pursuing officers,” said LAPD Deputy Chief Robert Arcos during a news conference. “While the loss of life is always tragic, it is particularly so when the loss involves a youth.” Oh, so the LAPD thinks killing people is tragic? Interesting… The teenager, identified as Jesse James Romero by the Los Angeles County Coroner, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other suspect did not flee police and he was questioned and released. Neither officer was harmed, but they heard a gunshot as they were rounding the corner, Arcos said. One of the officers then fired back and killed Romero, Arcos said. A loaded handgun was recovered by the teenager’s body but it was too soon for investigators to determine whether it had been fired or whether it had been used by Romero, Arcos said. OH! Angel Brinks Exclusive Interview Basketball Wives LA returned with a bang this season, and the claws have already come out — just a few episodes in! We caught up with Angel Brinks to talk about what it’s like to be thrust into a group with all their existing drama, and go more in depth into her emotional episode last Sunday . This is only your second season on BBWLA, so you’re still a bit of a newbie. What was it like being thrown into this catty reality TV world? Something in the back of my mind was off, obviously, because I thought coming into it that we were going to form some kind of sisterhood. You know, we’ve all been linked to professional basketball players…I figured they know ins and outs of this world and they could teach me a few things and we’d form a bond. But once I got thrown in I was like “Hold on — this wasn’t the plan!” I’m optimistic, I thought my personality and positive attitude had the capacity to change how they’d react to me or warm them up. But but they were just so mean! Draya brought you into the group, but then abruptly left mid-season and decided not to return. Do you miss having her around to navigate interactions with all these new ladies — especially in the crazier situations? I really wanted her to stay, I thought we could have had fun together. But even though she decided coming back wasn’t right for her, she encouraged me. She tells me to see it through and just don’t quit. The other ladies, they don’t know her like I do, and she’s a really great person. Plus, she brings so much life to the show! So yes, I was sad to see her go, but I understand. To get a little more serious, you shared some dark experiences from your past on this last episode. How have you dealt with sharing info about your late husband with your son as he’s gotten old enough to understand, and how has he been processing that? When [my son] was born, I had close family with me and they told me not to worry about the future, and to instead focus on the present and enjoying my baby. Basically, we could deal with it when the time comes. Then he hit preschool, then school, then the questions started to come. He’d watch cartoons, see situations there and wonder “where’s my daddy?” And since my husband was a rapper, I’d tell him “God needed him to come and play music for the angels.” But eventually he’d wonder “Doesn’t God know I need him too?” It’s been very difficult as he’s aged. As he got older, I had my daughter and We’d travel with Tyreke [Evans], and he’d look out at the clouds and ask if this is where God lives. I’d tell him yes, and he’d get all excited, looking out the window hoping to see his Daddy. He’ll still say he wishes his Daddy was here. What got cut from the show, and the reason we really began crying together, he said “I’m happy for my sister. I look at her and I think at least she has someone that loves her.” I had to tell him, “No, we ALL love you!” It’s sad, because even though he has uncles, cousins, grandparents, all of us — but that father figure is missing in his life, and there’s a void. I’m not sure what’s harder — when fathers are in your life and leave or die or never knowing them at all. When someone passes, at least we knew them and had them in our lives. As a parent I struggle with that. It’s hard to talk about certain things with him. He plays several video games where he sees characters die then come back to life, and I think some part of him still believes that his Daddy might come back. It’s just very hard. How have fan reactions been since Sunday’s episode? I feel like what’s going on in the world is so bad with all the hate we see. So, I didn’t think I would get so much support after this episode aired. I’m so glad and truly thankful that so many people reached out to support me, and many could actually relate to what I went through and have had similar experiences. This is what I want for the show. People look at something like Basketball Wives and see “Ohh, they have fancy cars, nice homes, clothes, etc.” and even though I’m not a basketball WIFE, I share in that lifestyle as well. BUT Behind all that, there’s real life and relatable issues, we’re able to give a voice to that. I just have to thank everyone so much for all their support. So, can you give us a little preview on what’s coming up for you the rest of this season? Do you end up clashing with anyone in particular? I really wish I could tell you! Of course I can’t speak much, but I do have my five-year anniversary party for my fashion line in an upcoming episode. There were several celebs there — Floyd Mayweather came, Lil Kim. I actually wasn’t going to celebrate, but people pushed me. 5 years is a milestone in a business. BUT, what you would think would be a beautiful setting didn’t exactly turn out to be. So there are a lot of twists and turns for the show and me getting into it with some people you wouldn’t necessarily expect. There’s a lot of surprises coming up. I will say that it’s a very emotional season for me, so I’m apologizing in advance for the tears *laughs.* But this is my real life. Nice! Police confirmed a man was arrested after he was seen ‘brandishing a knife’ and ‘injuring people’ in front of horrified onlookers in Russell Square last night. Fears that the knifeman operated with an accomplice were raised in the early hours as the Met refused to rule out further suspects. One witness said he saw ‘a man flee on a motorbike’. Officers arrived at the scene to find six people injured including one woman who died from her injuries a short time later. The condition of the other five is not yet known and police have not yet named or revealed the ages of the victims. One source said the suspect was seen to go ‘on the rampage’ with the weapon. The woman’s body is still believed to be on the pavement with a forensics tent covering it. Scotland Yard said: ‘Terrorism is one possibility being explored at this stage.’ The Met said the suspect was detained after being Tasered at the scene of the incident – opposite the three-star Imperial Hotel – at around 10.40pm last night. Police have cordoned off the area and there is a heavy presence of officers and paramedics. The Met said ‘additional units’ had been deployed for reassurance. SMH!! Another rising star has left us too soon, and in shocking fashion. Christina Grimmie, who placed in the top three on The Voice ‘s sixth season as part of Adam Levine’s team, was shot and killed last night . Grimmie, who opened for the band Before You Exit at Plaza Live, died from gunshot wounds after performing at an Orlando, Fla., concert. She was just 22 years old. While signing autographs after the performance, she was approached by a man with two guns, according to People . The man shot the singer before being tackled by her brother. He then turned the gun on himself and took his own life. “The show ended at approximately 10 o’clock,” Orlando Sgt. Wanda Miglio said during a news conference early this morning. “After that they were selling merchandise and signing autographs. We know that the suspect walked up and shot Christina at that point.” “We know that her brother tackled the suspect and that’s when the suspect shot himself.” “Her brother is a hero for saving and stopping him from not hurting anyone else.” According to WFTV, fans tweeted from inside the venue after hearing six gunshots. Grimmie’s rep confirmed her death in an official statement to People: “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord.” “She was shot at her show in Orlando, and unfortunately didn’t survive the gun shot wounds.” “We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.” A GoFundMe page has been set up to aid her family. NBC tweeted their devastation after hearing about the incident. “We are heartbroken,” the network wrote. “@TheRealGrimmie is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family. #PrayForChristina.” The Voice judge Blake Shelton responded to the news as well. “Just reading the same stuff y’all are at this point,” Shelton tweeted. “Can’t believe this..” No other details about the gunman’s motive are available at this time.
