Shout out to the Detroit Police Department. Earlier this week a rookie Detroit Police Officer made a racially insensitive post on snapchat where he said that he was “rounding up these zoo animals”. Detroit Police officer Sean Bostwick posted this on his social media. He was suspended from the job Sunday. He needs to be fired. Your top cop is black, you patrol a predominantly black neighborhood, in a city that is almost 85% black. Considering that Bostwick is white and 80% of Detroit is black it comes as no surprise that his comments rubbed people the wrong way. Chief Craig claims that in a follow-up interview with Bostwick the same day as his suspension that he came across as remorseful and claimed that he “didn’t mean it the way it came off,”. But of course that didn’t quite fly with Chief Craig who claims the department has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to events of this nature. Bostwick was already on probation apparently because it took him more time than expected to complete his time at the police academy. But this actually made his firing that much easier for the department. Events like this have become a trending topic nationwide, everyone from Roseanna Barr to politicians have been under fire recently for racially insensitive comments. It is some what encouraging that comments like these are not being brushed away as they have been in the past, but it is also unsettling that the comments are being made in the first place. At least we know that for now the Detroit Police Department is representing the city the best way they can, by not encouraging, and ceasing this type of behavior immediately.
Just four days ago, Logan Paul returned from hiatus with more followers than he had before his shameful “suicide forest” controversy, in which he filmed and mocked a suicide victim . A million new followers does not amount to a lesson learned. And Logan Paul just filmed himself doing something else awful and disturbing. This time, YouTube has taken action by suspending all advertising from his channel. Towards the end of Logan Paul’s video in which he announced his return to vlogging, he bragged about his increase in followers: “I know for a fact everything I do from this point on will get criticism, it will get backlash, because I’m a very polarizing dude. You either love me, or you hate me.” He forgot to mention that some people are blissfully unaware of his existence. “So internet, please, use me, bro. Crucify me, vilify me, and I can promise you one thing, guys. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to be here for a minute.” That is: One, not the first time that he’s referred to criticism of his unconscionable behavior and compared it to the literal crucifixion of Jesus . Two, straight out of the monologue of an insufferable anime villain. For reasons that we cannot begin to fathom — because surely, even if he wanted controversy, he should have known to wait a couple of weeks — Logan Paul filmed himself tasering a dead rat. He shows himself finding a couple of dead rats on his porch. (Which is obviously massively suspicious; how many mansions have dead rats show up? We don’t see neighborhood cats leaving them as gifts ) He then repeatedly tasered one of the dead bodies. It’s always reassuring to see a privileged man taking out his violent impulses on dead animals. That’s one of the signs of a healthy mind, right? So, obviously, it’s in poor taste and is massively inappropriate. The fact that this is right on the heels of his video in Japan’s infamous “Suicide Forest” makes things even worse. After that first dreadful video in Japan, which was culturally insensitive and also just, like, objectively insensitive, Logan Paul faced consequences from YouTube. They reduced his cut of advertising revenues. Now, however, YouTube has taken things a step further by cutting off all of Logan Paul’s advertising. Being an obnoxious little s–t on camera while also being super handsome is how Logan Paul made his millions. Alot of that is merchandising, but he made seven figures in 2017 from advertising revenue alone. YouTube released a statement explaining why they had taken the drastic step of this suspension: “This is not a decision we made lightly.” Of course not. Logan Paul is a huge source of revenue for the streaming platform. Suspending his ads hurts them, too. Imagine if NBC stopped airing ads on This Is Us ? (But also imagine if Kevin Hartley were an insufferable little fame monster instead of the talented, handsome actor that he is) “We believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.” YouTube is right to be concerned about a ripple effect. If YouTube stars get a bad reputation (well, a worse reputation), parents might start limiting access to YouTube rather than taking a close look at who is just giving a makeup tutorial versus who is ruining lives for fun and money. Logan Paul was YouTube’s darling son, and now he’s hurting the brand so much that even his massive number of subscribers aren’t worth it. This suspension is temporary, however, and it looks like YouTube is hoping that he will mellow out. Unfortunately, when you reward a terrible young man’s behavior with fabulous wealth, it doesn’t exactly discourage him from being obnoxious. Is Logan Paul even capable of learning his lesson now? He’s not a child, folks. Or will he return after this suspension ends with some new terrible stunt to feed his martyrdom complex?
Getty Images Fyre Festival Organizer Billy McFarland Arrested And Charged With Wire Fraud Remember that festival that the rich white kids paid thousands of dollars and flew to a random island for? And it turned out to be a dis-as-ter? Well, the festival’s founder and organizer, Billy McFarland, was arrested at his home in Manhattan on Friday and charged with wire fraud. This charge involved McFarland defrauding investors and presenting fake documents that drove them to invest such large sums of money into the event. McFarland is also accused of telling investors that the company earned millions of dollars from artist bookings, but it was reported that his company earned not even $60K annually. He also showed investors edited images that presented his stock valued over $2.5 million dollars, but his actual share was valued at $1,500. If he ends up getting convicted, he could end up facing a maximum of 20 years in prison. Him and his partner Ja Rule also face over a dozen law suits in addition to their federal charges.

Stacey Dash Suspended From Fox News Over Profane Language While Criticizing Obama Apparently, there are some levels of disrespect for Obama that even Fox News won’t tolerate. Stacey Dash just learned the hard way to watch her mouth while shes on air, after cursing while babbling on some of her republican rhetoric about why they don’t like Obama this week. The Fox news mouthpiece was given a ho sit down by the network after accusing the POTUS of “not giving a sh*t” about the deaths of Americans at the hands of potential jihadists in California last week. Via CNN : Ralph Peters, a Fox News “strategic analyst,” called the president a “total pu—” who “doesn’t want to hurt our enemies.” A couple of hours later Stacey Dash, a Fox contributor, said the president “didn’t give a sh–” about Sunday night’s terrorism speech. “Earlier today, Fox contributors Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash made comments on different programs that were completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air,” Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine said. “Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel do not condone the use of such language, and have suspended both Peters and Dash for two weeks,” he said. Dash’s profane remark was partially bleeped during “Outnumbered,” a lunchtime talk show on Fox News. Peters’ comments were not bleeped at all. He spoke to anchor Stuart Varney on the Fox Business Network, a smaller sister of Fox News. Varney let him speak for over a minute, then told Peters, “You can’t use language like that on the program, OK?” Old boy was BOLD calling our president a p*ssy. Good news for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys: Your teams won’t have to worry about facing a title-defending Tom Brady early in the 2015 NFL season. (Although frankly, we doubt that’ll save you, Jacksonville.) NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to uphold Brady’s four-game suspension that was handed down as a result of the quarterback’s alleged role in last year’s DeflateGate scandal . Brady and the Patriots have appealed, and even level-headed modern-day Solomon Donald Trump believes Brady was treated unfairly , but in a move that’s surprised many, the league is sticking with its initial decision. In a statement released today, the NFL stated that one of the reasons it’s upholding the suspension is the belief that Brady intentionally concealed evidence by destroying a cell phone that was requested by investigators. “At the hearing, Mr. Brady testified that it is his practice to destroy (or to give to his assistant to destroy) his cellphone and SIM cards when he gets a new cell phone,” the statement reads. Of course, this is a common practice among public figures; the phone was destroyed before investigators requested it, and there’s no league rule against destruction of personal property. So needless to say, the appeal process is far from over, and the league will now likely face off against Brady and NFLPA in court. Let’s hope it ends better than the last time a Patriot went to court .
