(Photo by Taylor Hill/FilmMagic) MSNBC is set to air a special at 9pm tomorrow hosted by Joy Reid and Chris Hayes, with special reporting from Trymaine Lee. It’s the same day Starbucks is scheduled to close all locations for racial bias training. This looks like a good and much-needed discussion… Hopefully, people of all races will tune in. And hopefully this will go a long way towards white people not calling the police on black people for just living their lives. Sidenote: Are you boycotting Starbucks still or do you think they are really doing something with their racial bias training?
Rachel Jeantel Graduates High School The prosecution’s star witness in the George Zimmerman trial is now a high school grad. Via Yahoo News: In a Miami auditorium less than three miles from where slain teen Trayvon Martin is buried, his friend Rachel Jeantel on Friday was presented her high school diploma, fulfilling the promise she said she made him. The moment was even more poignant with Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, looking on. “Her coming is like having Trayvon there saying, ‘You did it. You proved people wrong,’” Jeantel told Yahoo News. Jeantel was talking on the phone with Martin, 17, in the last moments of his life on Feb. 26, 2012. The unarmed black teenager was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, then 28, as the two fought on a dark neighborhood sidewalk in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. The case roused a national conversation about racial profiling, self-defense, gun control, vigilantism, civil rights and more. Zimmerman, the community’s volunteer crime watchman, maintained he shot in self-defense and was found not guilty during a nationally televised trial last July. Jeantel was a key prosecution witness, but her demeanor and speech on the stand often detracted from her testimony. Then 19, she used terms such as “creepy” and “cracker” to describe Zimmerman, whom she said was aggressively following Trayvon before their phone call was silenced during the scuffle. Get it girl! This is good news, riiiiiight?
There will always be questions surrounding the effectiveness of marches, peaceful demonstrations and commemorative gatherings in the name of social justice. Those who find the…

It’s so coooold in the D…. Detroit Woman Survives After Being Beaten And Run Over By Semi Truck Detroit people must really be built to last , because there’s not many other explanations for how this woman survived being beaten and almost completely ran over by a semi-truck. via News One Last month, a Detroit woman was brutally beaten and nearly run over by a semi truck. But now a witness has come forward with video of the attack. Fox 2 News Detroit reports that an unidentified woman reached out to them with video of the barbaric attack. She said she was at a gas station at Seven Mile and Schoenherr when she noticed a woman being beaten in the middle of the street. When a semi truck driver stopped to watch the fight, the attack reached the wheels of the truck. The woman fell directly between the wheels of the truck when the driver decided to drive off. She came close to being crushed by the wheels of the truck, but fell away from the wheels; the truck ended up running over her feet, however. There were plenty of witnesses, but no one helped her. Instead, a man picked her up and dragged her around like a sack of potatoes. The 18-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital and treated for her injuries. When the cops called the victim to take a complaint, she did not call them back. If she does not file a complaint, there is little that can be done to bring her attackers to justice. Shortly after the incident was reported, an unidentified witness came forward with a video of the entire ordeal. Check it out HERE . If this woman can live through this craziness, then bankruptcy should be no problem for Detroit… Photo/Video Credit: Fox 2 News
