Late Night Highlights: Joel McHale Attacks Innocent Conan Audience Member

Chaos broke out on the set of Conan last night when guest Joel McHale stopped ragging on Oprah and his Community co-star Chevy Chase to call out a young audience member’s wardrobe choice. But fear not — Conan, Andy Richter and second guest Tim Gunn heroically came to the audience member’s defense. Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert introduced a new product called meat goggles, Regis Philbin did card tricks and Conan vlogged about Bristol Palin from his bedroom.

Your Government at Work: No More Loud Commercials

As you’re probably aware, the United State of America is in a pretty serious rut. Face it: We’re kinda screwed. But, there is hope: In the coming week , Congress is likely to pass the Commercial Advertising Loudness Mitigation Act (CALM), which “should finally ban TV ads that blare louder than the programs they interrupt.” Yeah, on second thought, we’re still screwed.

Conan O’Brien Is Living in the Past [Video]

Conan O’Brien debuted his new TBS show last night. The only jokes he made were about getting fired by NBC. It was like a first date with a guy who only talks about what a bitch his ex-girlfriend is. Enough! More

The 5 Craziest Things No One Saw Coming When The Jay Leno Show Debuted One Year Ago Today

Happy anniversary, Jay Leno! On Sept. 14, 2009, The Jay Leno Show premiered on NBC to much fanfare (as Time foolishly prognosticated , “Jay Leno is the Future of Television”) but not much in the way of ratings. A year later, the show is but a memory, and not a particularly funny one; The Jay Leno Show wasn’t even good enough to become a Chevy Chase Show -like punchline. Still, a lot happened in the last 365 days and ahead, Movieline offers you a compendium of the five most unexpected, Leno-related events.

Looks Like Conan’s Keeping The Beard: First Conan Print Ad Revealed

Now that Conan O’B rien has finally named his return to late night television, the biggest question remaining about his TBS show was centered on facial hair. Watch TBS Showcase Conan O’Brien’s Scalp in New Promo

TBS may not have figured out a title for Conan O’B rien’s new show, but they have found multiple ways to promote the network’s most anticipated fall premiere without demanding the star’s actual participation. The Original Ending for Return of the Jedi Did Not Include an Ewok Party

Far be it from me to argue with the business acumen of George Lucas — after all, the filmmaker and current scourge of the geek universe was smart enough to include merchandising rights in his original deal for Star Wars — but did he really ruin what would have been a killer ending to Return of the Jedi because of toy sales?

Watch Conan O’Brien Experiment with Claymation in New TBS Promo

Just two days after TBS unveiled a whimsical new promo for Conan O’B rien’s new show , the cable network has claymated its Tonight Show acquisition. As this spot makes clear, though, the network still has not finalized a title for the O’B rien late-night experiment. Watch TBS Reconstruct Conan in New, Old-Timey Promo

With just three months until Conan O’B rien makes his late night debut on cable, TBS has unveiled a new 10-second ad in which the red-headed comedian is literally reconstructed with the use of planes, cranes, and hair dye. A Pythonesque flourish, a spot of shameless TBS propaganda (“the network that is rebuilding NBC’ s Humpty Dumpty”) or just the latest in the artsy, old-fashioned video movement spearheaded by Joseph Gordon-Levitt ? Decide for yourself after the jump.

Andy Richter Tweets

Congratulations to Andy Richter for caving to the pressure of the latest social networking trend. Yesterday, Conan’s sidekick logged his first four tweets, which included a photo of himself on the way to ESPN’ s All-Star Legends & Celebrity game. Afterward, the TBS -bound comic messaged: “Had a lot of fun, played well, and in locker room saw the genitals of some of the game’s greats.” [ @richter_andy ]
