Trailer: Ridley Scott Cobbles Together the World’s Home Videos For Life in a Day

Last summer, Ridley Scott and Last King of Scotland director Kevin McDonald teamed up with YouTube for a “historic global experiment” that would work like this: You send them some video of your activities on July 24, 2010 (a Saturday) and they would edit the best footage into a documentary film about the world’s events that day, credit you as a co-director and premiere it at the Sundance Film Festival under the title Life in a Day . Finally, the trailer has arrived. Let’s take a look!

Azazel Jacobs’ Terri earned a warm reception at Sundance, where critics acknowledged its indie movie-conventional, vaguely Rushmore -like set-up — lovable loser strikes up unexpected friendship with authority figure, cue twee soundtrack — but embraced its unique charms. The Help Trailer: Maid in Mississippi

Recently released stills of Dreamworks’s The Help looked stern, but the new trailer for the film stamps smiles on Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Emma Stone’s faces. But is this film set in early ’60s Mississippi too lighthearted to convey racial tensions without that Blind Side soupcon of condescension?

Latest Priest Trailer Highlights Copious Amounts of Vampire Killing

Yep, the trailer for Von Trier’s “beautiful film about the end of the world,” Melancholia , has arrived. Naturally, borderline NSFW nudity lies ahead.

TRAILER: Could Friends with Benefits Be the Movie No Strings Attached Wished It Was?

Confession time: I love Justin Timberlake. Not his music career, mind you — though who doesn’t love a little ” Rock Your Body ” every once in a while — but his acting one. You can grumble that he jumped the shark with endless appearances on SNL and his performance as himself — er, Sean Parker in The Social Network , but for my money, Timberlake constantly hits it out of the park. He even makes something as disposable as Bad Teacher look moderately watchable in a “Let’s wait to see it on a Wednesday night on HBO2 !” sort of way. All of which is a long way around saying that his presence in Friends with Benefits is key to making this summer rom-com look positively charming.
