Big Orangey Mess: Twitter Flipped The TSA Crisis Into Hilariously Petty Memes

Sadly, it’s a complete and total disaster but at least we have these memes to make us feel a smidge better. Kelly Clarkson Slams U.K. Publication for Misleading Cover, Quotes

No one on the planet should be as famous as me. Doesn’t sound like something Kelly Clarkson would say, does it? Exactly, the American Idol champion Tweeted today. Clarkson has gone off on the U.K. Mirror ‘s Sunday Celebs edition for making her sound obnoxious on its latest cover, writing of the above quote and image, along with implications that she suffered through an eating disorder: “Just to clear up the absolutely wrong so called quotes from me, I have never had anorexia nor did I ever say ‘no one should be as famous as me.'” Kelly went on to explain what actually went down: “I said in the interview, when asked about fame, that I have no desire to be as famous as Britney or Madonna. I said that kind of fame was too much for any person and that I have experienced a portion of what they deal with and that I didn’t handle that well and I’m happy where I’m at in my career.” Sounds reasonable to us. And to fellow Idol winner Jordin Sparks , who Tweeted back at Clarkson: “tell ’em girl!” We concur.

Johnny Depp To Cameo In Adam Sandler’s ‘Jack And Jill’

Director Dennis Dugan confirms Depp’s cameo to MTV News at ‘Just Go With It’ premiere. By Eric Ditzian Johnny Depp Photo: CBS On the absolutely frigid red carpet for Adam Sandler’s “Just Go With It” on Tuesday night, MTV News got an answer to a burning question about another upcoming Sandler comedy, “Jack and Jill.” Last month, paparazzi photos surfaced showing Johnny Depp visiting the set of “Jack and Jill,” in which Sandler plays both halves of a boy/girl set of twins, leading to speculation that the “Pirates of Caribbean” star will make a cameo in the flick. We put that question to director Dennis Dugan — who’s helmed not only “Just Go With It” and “Jack and Jill,” but five other Sandler films — and got a cameo confirmation. “There’s a secret guest star, but I can’t say who it is,” Dugan said, before admitting: “Johnny Depp.” We followed up to make sure Dugan wasn’t just messing with us. “No!” he said. So we can mark that rumor as official fact, though Dugan stopped short of letting us know the exact nature of Depp’s cameo. But the mere fact that Depp has signed on for the appearance is not only kind of great, but gives us hope that he’ll also pop up for a cameo in the big-screen adaptation of “21 Jump Street.” Goodness knows MTV News has been doing everything we can to make that happen . In non-Depp-related “Jack and Jill” news, we’ve got another scoop for you: the answer to the question of what Sandler looks like dressed up as a woman. Said Dugan, “Not Brooklyn Decker in ‘Just Go with It.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Just Go With It.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Open Thread: Hurricane Katrina Five Years Later

Five year ago today, Hurricane Katrina slammed Louisiana and Mississippi forever changing America. In the midst of unthinkable devastation, the media coverage of this natural disaster was disgraceful. Despite almost immoral bungling by New Orleans’ mayor and Louisiana’s governor, as well as decades of corruption that left this city’s levee system in a state of shameful disrepair, President George W. Bush was made the culprit for the damage, the suffering, and the loss. Katrina largely signaled the end of the Bush presidency just eight months into his second term, and America’s press were largely to blame. How do you see this disaster five years later and how the media handled it? Was it an ominous precursor to the absolutely abysmal job so-called journalists did in covering the 2008 presidential election? What have we learned from this event about the power of the press, and what can be done about it?

Remedy Was Too Small To Develop Alan Wake For PC And Xbox 360

By now, PC owners have hopefully come to grips with the fact that Remedy Game’s thriller Alan Wake will not be released on their console of choice when it hits store shelves May 18. Back in February, Microsoft confirmed that the PC version of the game had been canceled, because Microsoft had wanted to match “this specific game to the right platform.” Turns out that this was more of a half-truth, as Remedy recently told Digital Spy a different tale regarding the ill-fated PC version of Alan Wake . “We’re a small studio, about 50 people. Concentrating on one platform is just a lot easier for us where we’re smaller than other studios, and it’s just been focused on one platform and getting that done. We have no plans for the PC right now.” Remedy had always said that Microsoft ultimately had the final say about Alan Wake on the PC, but the “we just didn’t have the manpower to pull off a PC version too” reality of the situation clearly played a much larger role in the 360 exclusivity decision than previously thought. Given what’s been shown of the game over the past few months, it looks like focusing on the 360 version was the absolutely right way to go. Guess we’ll find out in a few months. Source: Digital Spy
