Punk Goes Twilight: Here’s Green Day’s Breaking Dawn Music Video To Make You Feel Old

Here’s something to add to the pile of things in life that’ll make you feel old: Green Day ‘s new music video for “The Forgotten,” their single from the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack. You read that right: The punk rockers, who once repped a generation of slackers with songs about masturbating and smoking weed, are now in bed with Twilight . Not that Green Day’s mainstream streak is anything new; they’ve played to the masses since making it big on MTV in the mid-90s, they have their own Broadway musical, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong ( who recently checked into rehab ) just guest-starred on The Voice , any of which would be reasons alone for a revocation of that punk card. Suffice to say the Green Day that got their start at Berkeley, CA’s gloriously dingy 924 Gilman decades ago isn’t quite the same Green Day singing about Bella Swan’s undead transformation into a vampire as faux-home movies of Edward Cullen playing the piano for his monster baby play in the background. Because that’s basically what the music video for “The Forgotten” is. Sample lyric: “Don’t look away from the arms of love.” On the contrary — look away! Look away! Get More: Green Day , The Forgotten , Music , More Music Videos The Twilight films have historically nabbed pretty great and surprising artists for their soundtracks, so this isn’t a stretch for the franchise. It’s just, y’know, WHAT HAPPENED TO GREEN DAY? Sigh. Joining Green Day on the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack are indie faves Passion Pit, St. Vincent, and POP ETC. Full track listing: Passion Pit, “Where I Come From” Ellie Goulding, “Bittersweet” Green Day, “The Forgotten” Feist, “Fire in the Water” The Boom Circuits, “Everything and Nothing” St. Vincent, “The Antidote” POP ETC, “Speak Up” Iko, “Heart of Stone” A Boy and His Kite, “Cover Your Tracks” James Vincent McMorrow, “Ghosts” Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed, “All I’ve Ever Needed” Reeve Carney, “New for You” Christina Perri, “A Thousand Years (Part Two)” Carter Burwell, “Plus Que Ma Prope Vie” If anyone needs me I’ll be in my room listening to Kerplunk on repeat, longing desperately for the ’90s of my youth. ‘Dancing With The Stars’: Chaz Bono Makes His Exit

‘This was an amazing journey that really pushed me,’ says Bono, who was in the bottom two with Hope Solo. By Kelley L. Carter Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer on “Dancing With The Stars” week six Photo: ABC The bottom-two scorers on the leaderboard were also the bottom two overall on Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show. Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer left the judges feeling underwhelmed after their performances on Monday night, and viewers must have agreed. In the end, it was Bono who got the boot. On Monday night, the activist tangoed to a track from “Phantom of the Opera,” and he had hoped that his newfound confidence would continue in that night’s performance. It failed to impress the judges, and backstage, he said his feelings were hurt by the comments given to him by judge Bruno Tonioli, who described him as a penguin. The judges also commented that they thought it was the most aggressive they’ve seen him but thought he needed to be pushed a little further if he wanted to last longer in the competition. “It was like watching a cute little penguin trying to be a big menacing bird of prey. This is the truth: It has to be menacing. Dark. Dangerous. Naughty. The tango wants to be driven continuously. It is hard. It’s very difficult. To me, this character didn’t fit you,” Tonioli told him Monday night. Bono, the son of Cher and Sonny Bono and the competition’s first transgender contestant, said he had no regrets about coming on the show. “I took so much away from this. This was an amazing journey that really pushed me and showed me that I could do so much more than I ever thought I could,” he said. “I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man. If there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different. And so I dedicated everything I did to all the people out there like me and especially to kids and teens who are struggling. You can have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy.” Were you sad to see Chaz go? Let us know in the comments.

Christina Perri Calls ‘Breaking Dawn’ Video ‘Dream-Like’

Singer says ‘A Thousand Years,’ her contribution to the ‘Twilight’ soundtrack, is ‘about the simplest kind of love and a timeless love.’ By Jocelyn Vena Christina Perri in her “A Thousand Years” music video Photo: Atlantic Christina Perri ‘s video for her “Twilight” soundtrack tune, “A Thousand Years,” hit the streets this week — in anticipation of all things “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” going down in November — and Twilighters won’t be disappointed. The video for the romantic tune is a mix of footage from the film, including the wedding scene and all that honeymoon hotness, as well as footage of Perri decked out in a gown, singing the passionate lyrics of the song while surrounded by candles. MTV News was on the “A Thousand Years” video set, where the singer opened up about her fandom for “The Twilight Saga.” “I wrote [the song] for Edward and Bella in their perspective,” Perri explained, calling the song “pretty, classical and simple.” “It’s the purest love song I think I could have possibly written. It’s about the simplest kind of love and a timeless love. “I’ve been a really big ‘Twilight’ fan for years. For me, it just has to do most with the love story between Edward and Bella. I feel like it’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ and they just happen to be vampires and there’s werewolves. I loved the story from day one.” Perri said that being such a “Twilight” fan makes having her song on the soundtrack that much more meaningful. “The fact that my dream came true … still blows my mind, and I don’t think I’ve fully processed it yet, even though we’re on the set of the music video,” she said. “I feel like maybe when we’re at the premiere and I see it in the movie is when it’ll really hit me because it just seems so dream-like. I feel so honored. It feels really epic.” The album hits stores November 8, just 10 days before the Bill Condon-directed “Breaking Dawn” opens November 18. A video for Bruno Mars’ track, “It Will Rain,” is slated to drop “in a couple weeks,” Mars tweeted Monday. The last part of the “Twilight Saga,” “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” opens November 2012. Go The Distance (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

A video I made for Justin Bieber using the song “Go The Distance” by Lucas Grabeel. Lyrics: I have often dreamed Of a far-off place Where a hero’s welcome Will be waiting for me Where the crowds will cheer When they see my face And a voice keeps saying This is where I’m meant to be I’ll be there someday I can go the distance I will find my way If I can be strong I know every mild Will be worth my while When I go the distance I’ll be right where I belong Down an unkown road To embrace my faith Though the road may wonder It will lead me to you And a thousand years Would be worth the wait It may take a lifetime But somehow I’ll see it through And I won’t look back I can go the distance And I’ll stay on track No I won’t accept defeat It’s an up hill slope But I won’t lose hope Till I go the distance And my journey is complete But to look beyond the glory Is the hardest part For a hero strength is measured by his heart Like a shooting star I can go the distance I will search the world I will face its arms I don’t care how far I can go the distance Till I find my hero’s welcome Waiting in your arms I will search the world I will face its arms Till I find my hero’s welcome Waiting in your arms http://www.youtube.com/v/Zb_3q0RiDiI?version=3&f=videos&app=youtube_gdata Read the original post: Go The Distance (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics
