The team made the admirable move of adding him to their practice roster to make sure he had access to a steady check and health insurance to cover his little girl’s treatment. Via DailyMail : A player cut from the Cincinnati Bengals at the weekend has been re-signed by the team so that he can pay for his four-year-old daughter’s cancer treatment. Defensive tackle Devon Still, 25, said he understood why he was dropped from the 53-man roster because, since learning in June that his daughter Leah has stage 4 pediatric cancer, he has struggled to concentrate on his game. ‘My whole world turned upside down,’ he told ABC News. But after failing to make the team on Saturday, the Bengals brought him on to the practice squad instead, which means he will still get paid and receive health insurance. ‘They could have washed their hands with me and said they didn’t care about what I was going through off the field,’ Still said. ‘It’s like a blessing in disguise for me.’ The move means that he will receive a weekly salary of $6,300, will have to travel less and get to spend more time with Leah, who is being treated in Philadelphia. The support from the Bengals – which includes allowing Still to miss Sunday’s game in Baltimore – comes after he was out of six games last season for injuries to his elbow and back. Speaking with Bengals.com, he explained: ‘They said if I keep working on my physical… and mentally prepared myself to focus on football then they can move me back up to the roster so I am not all the way out of the loop… ‘Just them sticking by me through this whole time, they understand exactly what I am going through. It is a blessing I am on this organization.’ On ABC, Michael Strahan called it a ‘classy, classy’ move by the team. Via MailOnline : A woman has developed a nose-like growth eight years after a stem cell treatment to cure her paralysis failed. At the Hospital de Egas Moniz in Lisbon, Portugal, the unnamed woman, a U.S. citizen, had tissue from her nose implanted in her spine. Doctors hoped the cells would develop into neural cells and help repair the nerve damage to the woman’s spine. But the treatment failed. However, last year, eight years after the stem cell operation, the woman, then 28, complained of increasing pain in the area. Doctors discovered a three-centimetre-long growth, which was found to be mainly nasal tissue, as well as bits of bone and nerve branches that had not connected with the spinal nerves. Stem cells – or ‘master cells’ – are capable of turning into other cell types, so are widely seen as a repair kit for the body. While often championed as the future of medicine, stem cells’ ability to metamorphasise and increase carries an inherent danger, namely that when when implanted into a person they could turn into dangerous cancer cells. As Ke$ha receives treatment for anorexia and bulimia at an Illinois facility, Pebe spoke with PEOPLE about the ” ridicule” and “disrespect” that led the singer to seek help. “I’ve watched my beautiful, self-confident, brilliant daughter be berated and ridiculed for her looks and weight to the point that she almost died,” Sebert revealed. Although Pebe has said the “Tik Tok” singer’s body issues stem all the way back to middle school, she points to producer Dr. Luke and former manager David Sonenberg as only fueling the fire . “One time on a conference call, Sonenberg was screaming, ‘You need to lose weight! I don’t care what you do … take drugs, not eat, stick your finger down your throat!'” she recalled. “Ke$ha was just weeping. She drove around afterward thinking about killing herself.” Dr. Luke denies Sebert’s allegations and offered his “utmost support” to the world famous performer. Sebert also spoke about difficult days leading up to her daughter’s decision to check in to get help: “She called me and admitted how much she’d been throwing up, and I just said, ‘Okay.’ I called some centers and Ke$ha agreed to talk to them and liked what they said.
