It has come to this for Anthony Weiner: a former porn star has suggested he resign, implying he’s a sexual deviant who sent lewd messages to a woman who never asked for them. Earlier today, reporters gathered for a press conference in which Ginger Lee once again said Weiner encouraged her to help him cover it his Twitter scandal . Ginger Lee Press Conference “He asked me to lie about our communication,” Lee said, with Gloria Allred by her side. “I think that Anthony Weiner should resign because he lied to the public and the press for more than a week.” Lee claims she never sexted Weiner and never reciprocated when he sent such Tweets as “My package and I are not going to beg…” and “You aren’t giving my package due credit.” Allred referred to her client as a “featured dancer,” said Lee has undergone emotional distress over the last few weeks and confirmed she would cooperate in any House ethics investigation. “If asked to testify, she will testify truthfully,” Allred said. “And she will provide all of her communications to and from the congressman to the committee.” On June 1, Weiner told Wolf Blitzer, in reference to Lee: “I don’t know who the woman is. I followed her for a moment. And then someone started Tweeting, oh my goodness, Anthony Weiner is following someone in that industry.” The very next day, Lee alleges, Weiner instructed her what to say if approached about their relationship.
Okay, we have to draw the line somewhere with this foolishness. New potential Twitter-related troubles arose for Rep. Anthony Weiner on Friday, after Delaware police reportedly spoke with a 17-year-old high school girl about “direct online communications” she’s had with the disgraced congressman. Weiner confirmed the communications late in the day, but denied that anything inappropriate took place. The police “asked to speak with the girl’s mother about the daughter’s contact with Weiner,” Fox News reported, adding that one of the network’s reporters happened to be there when the cops showed up. The visit by the police was later confirmed by POLITICO. The girl, whose name was withheld by Fox but who told the reporter she’s “doing OK,” left with her mother and the police, the network said, although it was unclear if there was a further conversation somewhere else. A Weiner spokeswoman emailed a statement in response to the reports that confirmed his contact with the girl, but denied anything was amiss. “According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent,” said the statement. “They were made aware of an alleged contact between Congressman Anthony Weiner and an area teen,” said New Castle County police spokeswoman Officer Tracey Duffy, according to the Post. “The teen has been interviewed and disclosed no information regarding any criminal activity.” Fox reported that “sources close the student” said the Delaware girl was among his thousands of Twitter followers, signing up for his feed after watching him speak during a trip to the Capitol with her school on April 1. He reportedly sent her a direct message over Twitter on April 13. It was unclear whether there was any further communication. There’s no reason a grown-a** man should be direct messaging a teenager! Under mounting pressure from fellow politicians, and with police getting involved in his recent spat of Twitter exchanges, the embattled Congressman has announced a leave of absence from his post. Can one seek professional help for being a horny moron? A statement from Weiner’s camp reads: “[Congressman Weiner] will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well. Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and has determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents.” The move comes after Nancy Pelosi said her colleague ought to see assistance “”without the pressures of being a member of Congress.” It also takes place shortly after police interviewed a teen in Delaware. She admitted to exchange Tweets with Weiner, but said nothing “inappropriate” took place. With his wife pregnant , there certainly do appear to be pressing personal matters for Weiner to attend to. In the face of mounting evidence – including an investigation of his Twitter platform and the discovery of another inappropriate photo – New York Congressman Anthony Weiner held a press conference today and admitted: I lied. I did send lewd photos to multiple women online. The scandal first erupted at the end of May, as a picture of Weiner’s covered crotch was found online, purported to be Tweeted to a 21-year old follower. Weiner immediately hired a lawyer, but also gave interviews in which he blamed the incident on a “prank.” But that defense became more untenable in the following days, resulting in today’s admission. During the press conference, Weiner said: He never met any of the women in question. He’s exchanged sexually explicit photos with “at least six women.” He dodged a question about whether or not he had “phone sex” with them and simply said they were adults and all actions were “consensual.” He told his wife the truth this morning and she was “very disappointed.” She also said she loved him and wanted the couple to “pull through.” He never asked anyone to lie or orchestrated any kind of cover-up. His staff was unaware of his actions. He labeled his actions “a personal failure” and said “I did a regrettable thing and for that I apologize.” He will not resign.
