Busta Rhymes Suing Man Pretending To Be His Manager For $1.5M

Source: DJDM/WENN.com / WENN A former employee of Busta Rhymes has been swindling promoters out of thousands of dollars in cash, and now the veteran rapper is taking actions. Busta is suing Rasheem “Bubba” Barker for $1.5 million after it’s come out he’s been pretending to be the manager of the Conglomerate caption. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Busta says he had a working relationship with Rasheem “Bubba” Barker. But Busta claims, “At no time did those duties include the authority to negotiate and/or enter into agreements with third party promoters binding Plaintiffs to render the professional services of Plaintiff Smith.” But in 2016, Busta claims Barker collected $20k for a gig he negotiated on his own and claims he did the same thing again in 2018 for $40k for a show in New Zealand. Things got so bad, Busta claims he got hit with a $22,478.40 judgment in a lawsuit he knew nothing about and believes other lawsuits might be coming … all because of Barker’s actions. Busta is suing for a total of more than $1.5 million in damages. Check out Busta Rhymes calling out Rasheem “Bubba” Barker in the clip below. — Photo: WENN

Get Well: Danielle Spencer AKA “Dee” From “What’ s Happening” Has Been Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

Keep her in your prayers !!! Former “What’s Happening” Child Actress Danielle Spencer Diagnosed With Breast Cancer One of our favorite child stars Danielle Spencer is dealing with a difficult health diagnosis, she revealed her current battle in an interview with Black America Web: Dr. Danielle Spencer played the bratty little sister Dee on the late-’70s sitcom, ‘ What’s Happening!!’ But the now 49-year-old actress is not a sad cautionary tale like so many other child stars. After the show ended it’s 3-year run from 1975-1978, Spencer went on to Tuskeegee University where she completed a degree in veterinary science and became a veterinarian. Spencer is facing a challenge now – she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and she hopes her story will encourage other women to seek screening. But for those who love nostalgia, Spencer remains a fond memory of childhood, her famous line ‘Oooh, I’m gonna tell mama,” is one her fans still say when they run into her. But Spencer says she’s OK with that, even if some people don’t realize she’s heard it many times before. “I chuckle, because everyone thinks its original, so I have to act like it’s new every time,” she laughs. Spencer says she stopped acting to focus on school, vowing to return to acting if her career as veterinarian didn’t work out. Twenty-two years later, she’s happy with her choice. “However I do miss it every once in a while. There are a lot more show and opportunities when I was young. She says. I wish there were more representations of animal rights on TV and I”m so glad there is Animal Planet now.” Spencer says she’d love to be part of a reality show focusing on animal rights and care. But first, Spencer has her own medical challenge. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a month ago and is heading to the hospital this week to seek the best treatment option. “Surgery is definitely one of the options,” she says. “I”m trying to get as many opinions as possible but it does look that that is what I’m going to do. Hopefully after that there won’t be any chemotherapy or radiation. With everything that I’ve been through with the spinal cord injury (Spencer was in a car accident in 1977, during the show. Symptoms of spinal cord injury showed up 26 years later, eventually leaving her near-paralysis for a time) I know God is not going to give me another affliction. So I was completely shocked when the doctors told me.” Spencer had a family history of breast cancer, but says she has a lot of support and help in her life but says that good things have also happened in her life this year. One of the most significant was her induction into the Smithsonian Museum, the only child star so inducted. She will be part of the permanent exhibition of the African-American cultural museum scheduled to open in 2015. Congratulations on the Smithsonian induction! It sounds like Spencer has been through a lot but breast cancer is survivable so we hope she keeps her spirits high and continues to fight the disease. Thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. You can listen to the full interview HERE Getty News/ABC

Dane Cook Criticized for Refusal to Live Stream Boston Benefit Act

Dane Cook has not received the reaction he was hoping for following last night’s Boston Strong benefit event at the TD Garden. The comedian was one of several big names to raise funds for victims of last month’s marathon bombings – joining such acts as Aerosmith and James Taylor – but while everyone else agreed to have their sets broadcast on television and online… Cook refused to live stream his jokes. Tweeted Cook in defense of his actions: “Hey everyone sorry my set was not a part of the live stream or televised! I didn’t want any of the new material to hit the airwaves yet!” But that only angered many Twitter users more, as they perceive Cook as placing his career above this important cause. “@DaneCook Really?” asked one critic. “Then why do a new set at a charity show? Couldn’t you just steal some @louisck jokes like you usually do?” What do you think of Dane Cook refusing to live stream his set?   It’s understandable, he has a career to worry about It’s lame! The news means that Christopher Nolan, who was recently approached about directing the next  Bond movie, will just have to keep doing moody thrillers.

Teacher Fakes Illness, Skips School for a Year

Nice try, Ashley Barker. No, really, we mean that: very, very, very nice try. The first grade teacher at Laurel Elementary School in Polk County, Florida has finally admitted that she lied for an entire year about her and her father having a terminal illness, a fib that essentially gave her months off work. School officials took Barker (above, left) at her word for a long time, permitting her to often leave early and take full days off. As part of her ruse, Barker sent the principal over 120 letters regarding the disease from which she and her dad were supposedly suffering. When finally confronted over the misdirection, Barker reportedly gave in and told bosses the truth: she had simply been at home, hanging out. The school is now trying to terminate the lying teacher, but Barker has hired an attorney to fight for her job.

Nigel Barker to America’s Next Top Model: Good Luck Without Me!

Nigel Barker, a photographer who has been with America’s Next Top Model since its beginning in 2003, was let go from the reality competition this week. How is he taking the news? Not too well. “Good luck to whoever [replaces me],” Barker told TMZ. “I would imagine it’s a tricky thing to replace someone who’s going on their 19th season.” Neither J. Alexander nor Jay Manuel will return to America’s Next Top Model this fall, either, as insiders tell major changes are in store. Ratings have not been strong for two cycles in a row now. “”Who knows if this is going to work?” Barker asked. “I don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea … Maybe it will work. Maybe it won’t. I wish them luck.” Somehow, we doubt he totally means that. [Photo: WENN.com]

Travis Barker Gives Twin Berlin An ‘Incredible’ Opportunity

Blink-182 drummer helped ‘Your Next Record’ contest winners put together their brand-new EP, There Goes My Virtue. By Matt Elias Travis Barker Photo: MTV News Blink-182 ‘s Travis Barker is giving a boost to Boston rock trio Twin Berlin’s EP release Wednesday (February 1). The veteran drummer handpicked the unsigned band out of a sea of submissions for Guitar Center’s “Your Next Record” contest. As part of the grand prize, Twin Berlin got to record a three-song EP produced by Barker himself, resulting in There Goes My Virtue . MTV News caught up with Barker and the band back in November, when they were tinkering away at Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles. Although he’s a percussionist at heart, Barker said he wasn’t just looking for the next great drummer. “There were some bands in the Guitar Center contest that were amazing drummers, but it was more a song thing for [Twin Berlin] — a great song,” Barker said. “They seem hungry, and they all have great personalities and attitudes about the whole thing. I just wanted to help emphasize what they were already doing and clean things up, maybe suggest arrangement ideas, just little things that will make a difference.” For Twin Berlin, the contest was a natural fit. “[Bassist] Sean is a huge Blink fan and everything, and we all really like Travis a lot,” drummer James Janocha said. “So we just figured, ‘Hey, why not enter?’ ” Barker recalled, “When they gave me all the bands’ songs, I didn’t know what the bands’ names were, I didn’t know what the guys looked like, I didn’t know how many people were in the group — it was purely based on one song, and that one song just won me over. I listened to the CD probably every day for three weeks, and that song just resonated with me.” The song Barker refers to, “Can’t Take, Take, Take,” ended up as the first track on the new EP, rounded out by “Don’t Hang Around” and “Give Up on Me.” While the trifecta of songs represents Twin Berlin’s gritty, unapologetic style of rock and roll, the recording process was far from their familiar DIY surroundings. “To get the chance to be able to work in a studio like this, it’s incredible,” guitarist/vocalist Matt Lopez said. “We used to record in this guy’s shed, so this is pretty insane.” Share your review of Twin Berlin’s new EP in the comments below!

Travis Barker Talks Partnership With Lil Wayne On New Solo Single

Barker says his collaboration with Weezy on ‘Can a Drummer Get Some?’ began when they performed together at last year’s Grammys. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sway Calloway Travis Barker Photo: Getty Images NORTH HOLLYWOOD, California — On Friday, with the 53rd Grammy Awards less than 48 hours away, Travis Barker invited MTV News up to his studio to play us a handful of tracks from his long-delayed though finally completed solo album, Give the Drummer Some , which hits stores on March 15. Judging from what we heard, there’s no shortage of hard-hitting, genre-blurring jams on the record, though a standout is “Can a Drummer Get Some?” The track, which is the album’s proper first single, features verses from Rick Ross, Game, Swizz Beatz and, of course, Lil Wayne. The Blink-182 stickman let it slip that he’s planning on filming a video for the song with all the talent present as early as next week. And it’s fitting that, on practically the eve of the Grammys, he’s talking about the song because, in a lot of ways, its roots stretch all the way back to last year’s Grammy telecast, when Barker joined Weezy, Eminem and Drake onstage for a performance of “Forever” “At the Grammys, we were at soundcheck, we were messing around before we even bust into the song,” Barker recalled. “Freestyling, just busting beats, it’s always a good time.” And that crackling, live energy is more than present on “Can a Drummer,” a song that Barker is deeply attached to for a lot of reasons. “I painted that one up in my head — that’s the first song I wrote for my album. I pieced that one together, I knew exactly how I wanted it,” he explained. “I [had] played on something for Young Money — they wanted me to do a remix, and I was like, ‘Cool.’ I had seen Wayne in L.A., and I had talked to him about a verse, so [we were like] ‘let’s just do [an] even trade.’ So, like a month later, I got my verse from Wayne. Man, everything he said, he just killed it. I would get mixtapes and I’d be listening to it in the car, like blaring it, and I’d hear him say my name or something, and I’d be like, ‘Lil Wayne just said my name, this is a trip!’ Because I’m a fan.” And as a fan, Barker is a lot like the rest of us. He’s eternally marveling at how far Wayne has come — a voyage that started more than 10 years ago, continued though their 2010 Grammy performance and now is featured prominently on “Can a Drummer Get Some?” “I love what Wayne’s done, how he’s progressed,” Barker laughed. “I remember, it must’ve been 1999 or 2000, and we’re in Las Vegas, at the Joint, and Cash Money is performing, and Blink’s performing — so it’s just a trip because I grew up on him too. I saw him go from that through his whole career, all his albums — it’s just crazy.” Don’t miss “Snooki & Sway: Live From the Grammys,” a red-carpet live stream kicking off Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on MTV.com. And stick with us all Grammy night for coverage of the red carpet, the show, the afterparties and beyond! Related Artists Travis Barker Lil Wayne
