Toni Cornell Honors Father, Brings GMA Viewers to Tears

Good Morning America featured a very special performance on Friday. About three months after Chris Cornell killed himself , the late singer's 12-year old daughter appeared on the ABC program and teamed with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder for a moving rendition of the classic ballad “Hallelujah.” The track was also performed as a tribute to Chester Bennington, a good friend of Cornell's who tragically also killed himself via hanging out this summer. Linkin Park was scheduled to perform on the show, but OneRepublic filled in after the band canceled their tour and concert dates in the wake its frontman's death. “This is just an honor to be here,” Tedder told GMA's Lara Spencer, noting how he had met Bennington a few times and was good friends with Cornell. “I was lucky enough to write and produce with [Cornell], and get to know him and his family over the years. He was even in one of our videos.” Cornell's little girl also spoke ahead of her and OneRepublic's song dedication, telling GMA: “It's an honor to perform this for my dad and for Chester and to sing for them.” “Hallelujah” was the single that Bennington performed at Cornell's funeral in May, just a few weeks before Bennington was found dead of his own suicide at the age of 41. He committed the sad act on what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday. Members of the sizable GMA crowd started to shed tears this morning as Toni belted out the lyrics of this sad track in a somber tone, one very similar to her father’s. A month after Cornell’s death, Toni and her 17-year sister, Lillian Jean, penned letters to the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman in observance of Father’s Day. “Let me start by saying how much I love you and how much you mean to me,” Toni wrote alongside a photo collage of herself with Cornell through the years, adding: “You are my idol, someone I’ve always looked up to. You were always there for me. You pushed me forward every day, and you still do.” Sad stuff all around. Watch Toni's emotional performance below:

Mediaite reports: In an interview with SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s Ron Bennington, comedian and former CNN host D.L. Hughley criticized President Barack Obama for not showing enough passion. Hughley said that Obama tends to respond to criticism intellectually and is “closer to being a white kid” in that respect. However, Hughley says that Obama’s calm demeanor also results in a lack of enthusiasm from the public in the election. Hughley appeared on Bennington’s interview program, Unmasked, to promote his new book, I Want You to Shut The F**k Up: How the Audacity of Dopes is Ruining America. Rihanna Not Dating Ashton Kutcher

‘I’m happy and I’m single,’ singer tells reporters at a press conference in London. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage Rihanna had been romantically linked to Ashton Kutcher last week, when a report surfaced that she had headed over to the actor’s house late one night and stayed there for several hours. At a London press conference for “Battleship,” a reporter used her one question with the pop star to ask about the alleged rendezvous. After meandering around about Ri’s fans and their love for her, she eventually got to her point: Would she get any visits from Kutcher while out promoting the film? The singer’s response? Well, she wasn’t amused. “Wow, how disappointing was that question,” she said in a video posted on the

Exclusive: Linkin Park Ready To ‘Burn’ With New Single, Album

‘We worked our butts off to create this record,’ Chester Bennington tells MTV News of fast-evolving follow-up to A Thousand Suns. By James Montgomery, with reporting by James Lacsina Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Photo: MTV News Last year, when Linkin Park told MTV News they were already beginning work on the follow-up to A Thousand Suns, it was noteworthy for several reasons — chief among them being that this is a band that likes to take their time with things. But it looks like all that is changing. On Tuesday, MTV News was on the set of the video for “Burn It Down,” the first single from their (still-untitled) new album. So, yes, this is really happening, and yes, it’s happening soon, as LP’s Chester Bennington explained. “Well, we promised our fans that we’d put out records faster, and that’s what we’re doing. We figured out a way to condense our cycle, so to speak, by … continuing to write, trying to keep the creative ball rolling as often as possible,” he said. “We wrote some of the stuff on the road during the last tour, and instead of … touring for two years, we toured for about a year, we came home, jumped right back into the studio and just worked our butts off to create this record. “And this album is a really great representation of where we’re at right now as a band,” Bennington continued. “We’re kind of really comfortable with our early n

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Talks Earthquake Relief Show

‘It’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us,’ Bennington says. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Vanessa Whitewolf Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs to raise money for Japanese tsunami relief in Los Angeles Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Linkin Park got together with 1,100 of their biggest fans on Wednesday night to play a very special show. Normally used to rocking tens of thousands, the group squeezed into the very intimate Mayan Theater in Los Angeles for a benefit for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief that was fueled by their followers’ energetic fundraising efforts. “It’s a really exciting night tonight. We’re performing a show with he B’z from Japan, [the] biggest rock band in Japanese history,” explained singer Chester Bennington before the gig. “It’s an honor to be able to play with these guys, and it’s especially an honor to be able to give back to the Japanese community that’s been so devastated and been so great in supporting us.” The show was populated by fans who met the group’s challenge to each raise $500 or more for Japanese tsunami relief in order to earn a pair of tickets. It was a continuation of LP’s Music for Relief charity, which was started in the wake of the 2005 Indian Ocean tsunami, which has subsequently raised funds for victims of other natural disasters, including the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. “We wanted to do something where we kind of engaged our fans to give money, because we’re always asking them to give money all the time because unfortunately, there are natural disasters affecting so many places all over the earth that we’re always asking our fans for money,” explained Bennington of the group’s ongoing fundraising efforts. “We wanted to do something that was exciting for our fans and gave them something to look forward to, a goal that was beyond anything they’d done before.” One initial idea had LP donating all the money from a show in Japan to relief efforts. But that felt like the obvious thing to do, so instead they came up with the notion of a secret show that would engage fans by having them “earn” the tickets. “We set a goal that we thought was pretty high, at $250,000, and amazingly our fans — from both Linkin Park and B’z — have generated over $350,000 in 60 days,” he said. “Which is unbelievable considering not only the devastation in Japan but also the economic struggles people are having here in the U.S. as well.” In fact, he said proudly, the top fundraiser brought in more than $13,000. By Shaheem Reid D4L’s Fabo Photo: Taylor Hill ATLANTA — D4L’s Fabo seemed like he would be the breakout star from the group in the wake of its 2005 hit “Laffy Taffy.” The cat was flamboyant with his stunna shades, spaced-out lingo and snap dancing. However, that was four years ago, and Fabo’s music has come sporadically, while Shawty Lo has become the group’s standout, with hits like “Dun Dun” and “Dey Know.” Fabo told us recently it’s all good: He’s about to make a comeback
