Selma Blair & Rachel McAdams Accuse James Toback of Sexual Harassment

Just a few days ago, 38 women came forward and accused director James Toback of sexual misconduct . 38 is an alarmingly high number. The number of accusers has now grown to the hundreds . Among Toback’s accusers are Rachel McAdams and Selma Blair, who are bravely sharing their harrowing stories. In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal , more and more people in Hollywood are sharing their #MeToo stories and feeling brave enough to speak up, and shatter the culture of silence. One of the men accused of perpetrating a pattern of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry is an Oscar-nominated director. According to the initial allegations, James Toback uses similar tactics on different women. He allegedly approaches young women if they aren’t sent to him and promises to boost their careers, citing what he did for Robert Downey Jr. Once alone in a place like a hotel room, he reportedly becomes inappropriate, all under the guise of it just being part of the entertainment business. He would reportedly try things like humping women’s legs, masturbating in front of them, and ask them unacceptable questions. (In particular, based upon the accusations, he seems obsessed with talking about masturbation and fixated on women’s pubic hair) The issue, of course, is that none of this was consensual. These aren’t accusations of weird dates , these are accusations that he used the false pretense of work-related meetings to lure women to him, where he would then ambush them and coerce them — successfully or not — into playing their role in his twisted fantasies. All of that is enough to turn your stomach, but there’s more. As we said, hundreds of women have now reached out to say that they had experiences like those described with James Tomack. And two big-name actresses, Rachel McAdams and Selma Blair, are sharing their stories with Vanity Fair . Selma Blair says that she met with him to discuss Harvard Man , at a time when Selma Blair had filmed her famous role in Cruel Intentions but the film had not yet been released. After Toback apparently refused to leave his hotel room to meet her in the restaurant, Selma went up to meet him. She describes how uncomfortable she became. “He said, ‘Where are your parents?’ I was thinking, ‘Why is he trying to make me feel so uncomfortable?’ But I realize now he was really trying to figure out what support system I had. I answered him. My mother was in Michigan, and I had an estranged relationship with my father.” Meaning no family support network in town to speak of. “James said, ‘You know, I could have him killed.’ He sat back in his chair and said really confidently, ‘I do it all the time. I know people.'” That’s scary … and it will come up again. “It was about 40 minutes in and he said, ‘Will you trust me? I cannot continue to work with you unless you trust me.’ He said, ‘I need you to take your clothes off. I need you to do this monologue naked.'” As ridiculous as that sounds, Selma was thoroughly intimidated at this point and ended up caving to his request. She says that then, of course, he started rubbing himself through his clothes … and asking if she would have sex with him. She declined, but he didn’t seem impressed by her refusal. “I felt trapped. I did not know how to get out and save face and not make a scene. Was I imagining it? He dropped some names [of actresses] that he did some really dark sexual things with.” And there was an implied threat in that. “These felt like lies and dark gossip and that he would add my name to the list. I went to leave and he got up and blocked the door. He said, ‘You have to do this for me. You cannot leave until I have release.'” “He said, ‘It’s O.K. I can come in my pants. I have to rub up against your leg. You have to pinch my nipples. And you have to look into my eyes.’ I thought, ‘Well, if I can get out of here without being raped …'” No one should ever be put into this position. “He walked me back to the bed. He sat me down. He got on his knees. And he continued to press so hard against my leg. He was greasy and I had to look into those big brown eyes.” Gross. “I tried to look away, but he would hold my face. So I was forced to look into his eyes. And I felt disgust and shame, and like nobody would ever think of me as being clean again after being this close to the devil. His energy was so sinister.” After that, Selma says, he reminded her that he could supposedly have people killed, and admonished her to keep quiet. That didn’t stop Selma from telling her manager that Toback was “vile,” and warning her to note send any women to him again. But she didn’t tell the whole story, she says, to anyone except for two people. Until now. Rachel McAdams also shared her horror story in Vanity Fair . She was a 21-year-old theater student at the time, and she was also auditioning for Harvard Man . At the time, Rachel McAdams had her first TV job to film early the next day, but she eventually agreed to meet him that night. It could, after all, end up being her big break. (Remember, this is before Mean Girls  or The Notebook ) “Pretty quickly the conversation turned quite sexual and he said, ‘You know, I just have to tell you. I have masturbated countless times today thinking about you since we met at your audition.'” That … is not appropriate in a workplace environment. And yes, an audition or anything audition-related is very much a workplace environment. Also … gross, dude. Rachel says that he then had her read to him a number of seemingly unrelated passages — like reviews about his work. (There’s no telling if he wanted to make sure that she was impressed, or if he … ugh, gets off on that) “Then he went to the bathroom and left me with some literature to read about him. When he came back he said, ‘I just jerked off in the bathroom thinking about you. Will you show me your pubic hair?’ I said no.” It sounds like, for whatever reason, Toback was less aggressive with her than he is accused of having been with Selma Blair. “Eventually, I just excused myself. I can’t remember how long I was there. I felt like I was there forever. This has been such a source of shame for me — that I didn’t have the wherewithal to get up and leave.” Countless other women didn’t. Few would, in that situation. Society trains us to be polite, innate survival instincts tell us to play along, and the man’s very real power to boost careers added even more complications. “I kept thinking, ‘This is going to become normal any minute now. This is going to all make sense. This is all above board somehow.’ Eventually I just realized that it wasn’t.” And Rachel acknowledges how fortunate she was. “I was very lucky that I left and he didn’t actually physically assault me in any way.” Even so, no one should have to endure that. With hundreds of accusers having come forward, there’s no telling how many are keeping silent. After all, reading a story or a woman who got away or said “no” enough times might actually be discouraging to a woman who did not, rather than liberating. But it’s so important that women — and men — who have faced this kind of unacceptable sexual harassment and sexual assault continue to come forward so that predators can be dragged out into the light of day. There can be healthy relationships between people who work in the entertainment, whether they’re casual or romantic. They might even be for personal gain. They must always be truly consensual, however. Making someone feel cornered or trapped or afraid is a monstrous tactic. If someone fears for their safety or their career if they say “no,” then it’s not consent. And, basically, no one should ever do any of the thing that James Toback is accused of having done. Please. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton: "Focused on Getting Pregnant," Source Claims

Pretty much from the moment we first learned Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are dating, the couple has been the subject of just about every kind of rumor imaginable. At this point, we can’t even count the number of false reports about Stefani and Shelton getting married . And of course, there have been plenty of Gwen and Blake breakup rumors , as well. But the question that fans seem most obsessed with is that of whether or not Blake and Gwen will ever expand their family. Yes, it seems that not a week goes by without one tabloid or another reporting that Stefani is pregnant , trying to get pregnant, or looking into adoption. This week, it’s Us Weekly ‘s turn, and the magazine is going all-in with “quotes” from a “source” who says getting pregnant is Gwen’s top priority these days. In fact, the tipster claims that baby making is number one on the singers’ agenda, even taking precedence over getting married. “[Gwen and Blake] will get married one day,” a Shelton insider tells the Us, “but right now they are hyper-focused on getting pregnant.” So what’s the hold-up? For starters, Gwen is 48 years old. Sure, we live in the age of Janet Jackson popping out babies at 50 , but that doesn’t mean getting pregnant in middle-age is commonplace or uncomplicated. “Starting a family has not been easy for them,” says the insider. “It’s something that they really want and it’s just not working out the way they wanted it to.” So why not just adopt? Well, it seems Blake really has his heart set on having biological children of his own. “Blake told Gwen he does want kids of his own,” says a Shelton source, “and Gwen was willing to try. “With her, Blake has the exact relationship and family life he’d hoped to have with Miranda. Gwen’s everything he wants,” says the insider. He has everything he wants, but … he just wants a little bit more? We’re starting to think that either Blake’s confused, or this insider is. Anyway, while the struggle to conceive brings many challenges with it, Gwen and Blake apparently believe the whole experience is only making them stronger. “They struggle they’re facing is making them stronger,” says the Shelton insider. “They are so committed to one another and protective of one another.” Hey, whatever works. Best of luck to these two! View Slideshow: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: 11 Most Adorable PDA Moments

The Voice Recap: Who Made It to the Knockouts?

The Battle Rounds on The Voice have always served as a way to amp up the drama on the NBC juggernaut. We love drama, but not at the expense of dreams being dashed.  Most of the singers who make it through the Blind Auditions section of the show are already seasoned singers, so it makes little sense to have them battle it out.  It was night two of the grueling process, and there was not much in the way of shocks. Everyone who should have gotten through did, and that’s about all we could ask for.  Let’s break down the three battles that took place on the show.  Davon Fleming vs. Maharasyi – “I’m Your Baby Tonight” Maharasyi sprung a leak on the first day of rehearsals and struggled to keep up with Davon who was killing it. Jennifer noted that Davon went with it and proved he had what it took to advance to the next stage. It was pretty much the same thing during the performance. Davon was a clear frontrunner, but his voice was not as good as it was the first time we heard it. But that was still enough to win over Maharsayi who was sent packing.  Hannah Mrozak vs. Brandon Showell – “Cold Water” There was something off about Hannah during her rehearsal. She did not seem as into the competition as she should have been. This was the performance that was going to make or break her.  Brandon was decent in the performance, but it was clear he still had a lot of work to do if he wanted to advance to the next stage. Hannah’s performance improved as it went on, while Brandon’s stayed the same and it was not great.  Hannah was saved, while Brandon was sent home.  Mitchell Lee vs. Dennis Drummond – “Mr. Jones” This battle was always going to be a tough one. They both have very different voices, and that made their performance so delightful to watch. They don’t go together, so they should never duet.  Mitchell was saved by Blake, while Dennis was poached by Adam. That’s a wrap on Night Two! What did you think about the latest episode? The Voice continues Monday on NBC! View Slideshow: The Voice Winners: RANKED!

Blake Shelton: Is His New Song About Marrying Gwen Stefani?!

Sometimes Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are so cute they make you want to vomit, you know? But like, in a good way. It’s just so sweet how they found love after what seemed like such painful, dramatic divorces — remember, Blake split with Miranda Lambert, Gwen dumped Gavin Rossdale, and they were together just a few months later. Every single time we see a photo of the two of them or hear them talk about each other, or even when we just hear a random report about them, we can’t help but smile. Because of the cuteness. And if you’re the same way, then Blake’s brand new music video will probably just destroy you. Blake released the video for his song “I’ll Name the Dogs” yesterday, and it’s … well, it’s so precious it hurts. Check it out, you’ll see what we mean: Blake Shelton Releases Adorable New Music Video! Did you watch it?! Are you done crying all the happy tears yet?! Good, then let’s start talking about how the song is almost definitely about Gwen! Looking at the lyrics, it’s clear that Blake is singing about a woman he wants to marry : “I’m talking about you and me with the same street name, same last name, same everything.” Throughout the song, he paints the most adorable picture of his ideal life together with this woman. “Laying next to you every night sounds like a damn good life,” he croons. As for the title of the song, he suggests all the different roles the couple could take — “You name the babies,” he sings, “and I’ll name the dogs.” So this is a song about his love for this woman, a love so deep that he wants to marry her and have children with her . It’s got to be about Gwen, right?! If you still have your doubts, then just pair the lyrics with the video, which, by the way, features appearances by Gwen’s actual children. If that’s not a sign, then what is? But hey, you may still be doubtful, and that’s fine. To convince you — or to push you over the edge, if you don’t need convincing — check out this report about Gwen’s reaction to the music video! A source tells Hollywood Life that “Gwen cried the first time she saw the finished video.” “The combination of the romantic lyrics that Blake sings just for her, seeing her boys on screen, and the surprise twist of it being an older couple getting married hit her right in the heart.” “It was so emotional for her in so many ways,” the source adds. Us too, us too! The source claims that “She and Blake always talk about how they’re going to grow old together, that was the inspiration behind the surprise twist of having the bride and groom be seniors.” “Between that and seeing her boys onscreen looking so grown up it was impossible for her not to cry.” View Slideshow: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: 11 Most Adorable PDA Moments “She’s beyond proud of Blake and so honored that he sings such a beautiful song for her,” the source says, “she feels like the luckiest woman in the world right now.” So, are they getting married now or …

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: Still Together, Closer than Ever!

Fans of this unlikely couple had been so worried since stories emerged of a possible breakup . But it looks like any issues have been resolved and that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are back on track. In fact, based on Blake’s new statements, it sounds like they’re closer than ever! These two might both be in the music business, but they come from completely different worlds. Gwen Stefani is a pop icon with numerous hits She’s very well-known in popular culture. Blake Shelton is a musical titan … in the context of country music. Country music has a huge fanbase, sure, and some of Blake Shelton’s name-recognition even spills over into popular culture. Before these two were judges on the same show and became an item, your average person could probably only tell you much about one or the other, but not both. But, despite effectively being from different planets, they met on The Voice and, in 2015, freshly broken up with their spouses, they began dating . It turns out that they might not be as much of a case of “opposites attract” as people might think, though. We have to keep in mind that Gwen Stefani only had, what, one real boyfriend before she dated and then married Gavin Rossdale? She came from a fairly conservative background, which was probably part of why she took Gavin’s reported cheating so personally . Plus, even with the most serious relationships, you don’t always need to be romancing a cultural clone of yourself. Sometimes all that you need is chemistry. Regardless, the Gwen and Blake have meshed together well, comforting each other after their respective breakups . And then some . Still, many had worried that the star-crossed romance had finally come to an end. Well, Blake’s interview with Hoda Kotb assures the world that he and Gwen are rock solid . “We’re just content and happy, and it’s just an incredible feeling,” he says. “She’s my best friend.” Yeah, it sounds like these two are still head-over-heels. And this is coming up on a two-year relationship. That’s a long-ass honeymoon phase. You know, a lot of people who get married or are considering marriage refer to “marrying their best friend.” We don’t think that Blake’s necessarily dropping hints, but … maybe he’s subconsciously choosing words that betray his intentions. It’s an exciting time for fans of these two songbird lovebirds. View Slideshow: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: 11 Most Adorable PDA Moments

The Voice Recap: Battling for a Spot

After the very long Blind Auditions stage of this veteran NBC reality series, it was time for the singers to go head-to-head on Monday night to come out as the best of the rest.  Who never made much of an impact at this stage of the competition? Who sang higher than the rest? It’s time to run down the latest episode of this NBC smash… Brennley Brown vs. Lauren Duski Blake Shelton’s Country singers went head-to-head and sang “Better Man” by Little Big Town. The interesting thing about this performance was that it was a tough decision to decide which one of them should be saved.  Their vocals were excellent. It was most definitely not the easiest decision, but Blake decided to keep Lauren Duski. Unfortunately for Brennley Brown, Gwen Stefani wanted to take on some cast-offs from her boyfriend’s team.  JChosen vs. Kenny P Remember how we were ecstatic about the addition of JChosen a few weeks back? It turns out, we were right. Battling Kenny P for supremacy as they sang “I Was Made to Love You” by Stevie Wonder was the best way to benchmark the two voices.  JChosen emerged as the winner, but that was obviously going to happen from the get-go. His personality, voice and sheer determination helped him eke out the victory.  As expected, JChosen advanced to the next stage. Kenny P’s voice was no match, and there was no steal. That meant it was the end of the line for Kenny P.  Anatalia  Villaranda vs. Missy Robinson Do you ever feel like producers pick songs that will benefit who they want to make it further into the competition? Anatalia and Missy performed “Tightrope” by Janelle Monae, but only Anatalia seemed to know the song.  Missy’s performance was just all over the place, and it was sad considering how well she performed at her audition. Alicia was put in a tough spot and ultimately stuck with Anatalia.  Missy was eliminated and sent home.  Gaby Borromeo and Mark Isaiah Gaby and Mark battled to “Pillowtalk” by Zayn Malik, and it was surprisingly very close. It seemed like a song made for Mark, but it was so much more than that. It was interesting to watch them both go at it to try and stay in the game. Sadly, Adam seemed to think Mark was the clear winner here and kept Mark in the process.  Gaby was sent packing, and we actually felt bad for her. She deserved so much better. She would have been better suited with the likes of Alicia.  Felicia Temple vs. Quizz Swanigan “Titanium” by David Guetta is not the best song to sing during a competition, but Alicia did not seem to get the memo. It was blatantly obvious Alicia kept Quizz because he’s known as the youngest contestant in the competition.  Quizz is good, but it seemed like Alicia never really thought it through. Thankfully, Felicia found a place on Team Blake, so we’re happy about that.  Ashley Levin vs. Casi Joy The show saved the best performance for last, with both women going head-to-head with a rendition of “How Blue by Reba McEntire. Pitting the two women against each other was always going to be difficult when you consider just how AMAZING they both sound.  The performance was something you would expect from finale night. It really had everything, but Blake could only keep one of the women. He kept Casi Joy.  But that resulted in some sort of bidding war between the other three coaches. Alicia took the win and added one of the most promising contestants to her team.  That’s a wrap on Part 1 of the Battle Rounds. What did you think of the decisions? Hit the comments! Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: Going Strong at People’s Choice Awards!

Isn't it so nice to see Gwen Stefani happy after the absolute mess that was her divorce from Gavin Rossdale ? It was widely reported that he had a long affair with their nanny , but whatever happened, Gwen was very clear about being traumatized from it. After she filed for divorce, she spoke at length about how hurt she was by whatever it was that happened. It was awful. But then she began dating her fellow co-star on The Voice, country star Blake Shelton, and things began looking up for her. Gwen and Blake — Gwake, if you will — were very vocal about their love for each other for a while, to the point where they got a bit obnoxious. Some people even began thinking the relationship was staged, things were so constantly, overwhelmingly sappy. But in the past several months, it seems like these two have really settled into their relationship. They don't gush about each other every waking moment like they used to, and it's been a nice change. But don't for one second think that their love has faded — and if you can't help it, just check out this clip of Blake Shelton at last night's People's Choice Awards . Blake won two awards, one for Favorite Album and one for Favorite Male Country Artist, and during his acceptance speech, he took a moment to talk about Gwen, who was in the audience. Check out the incredibly adorable speech here:
