Charlie Brown Actor Gets Probation In Stalking Case According to TMZ The former voice of Charlie Brown was sentenced to 1 year in jail for stalking and threatening an ex-girlfriend and her plastic surgeon … but he’s getting off with time served. Peter Robbins was arrested back in January, pleaded guilty in April … and got slapped with the 365 day sentence in San Diego today. Thanks to an 8-month rehab program, and the 110 days he’s already done behind bars … he’ll avoid further jail time. Robbins — who voiced Chuck in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” — got busted after threatening his ex and the surgeon who did her breast enhancement. Robbins also got 5 years probation, a 10-year order to “stay away” from the doc — and has to pay $15,081.90 in restitution to his ex. What a blockhead. Stalking? Teen Slashes Friends Throat Over Video Game According to Mail Online Video games have been accused of fuelling youth violence after a 13-year-old boy slashed a friend’s throat following an online row. Police believe the attack, in Clydebank, Scotland, was influenced by the teenager’s use of violent video games. He had only known his 14-year-old victim for a few months after they met online while playing Xbox game Gears of War 3. The 18-rated game, which contains ‘strong bloody violence’, rewards players for devising ways of murdering their opponents. Brian Docherty, chairman of the Scottish Police Federation, said: ‘These games are rated 18 and shouldn’t be played by children of this young age – but online gaming may be outside their parents’ knowledge. We need to look again at what we can do to stop this.’ The High Court in Glasgow heard the boys had a falling-out, which resulted in the victim being slashed. Then, in a scene reminiscent of violent video games – the accused sneered at his victim: ‘Don’t die,’ before calmly walking off. The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted assault. The victim is now traumatised and his attacker – already a father – faces being locked up when returns to the dock later this month. Prosecutor Andrew Brown, QC, told the court: ‘The reporting officer was of the opinion that the violent video games played online by the accused may have been a factor in his conduct.’ The boys met while playing Gears of War 3 online around Christmas 2011. They later met in person and the court heard there was no animosity between the pair until a month before the slashing. Mr Brown said: ‘The pair had fall-outs online amounting to name-calling via the messaging system used in the game.’ On April 14 last year, the day of the attack, the victim met some friends and the group later encountered the accused at a local shop. Later that night, the victim and another boy were going to a house when they saw the accused. The accused grabbed the 14-year-old then struck him across the throat with a knife. The victim told paramedics a boy had ‘slit his throat in an argument about Xbox games’. He suffered a wound so deep it exposed his windpipe and required 20 staples following surgery. The court was told the victim – now 15 – has refused to speak about what happened to him and has had difficulty sleeping. A spokesman for Microsoft, which publishes Gears of War 3, said: ‘We have some of the most robust parental control systems to empower parents to decide how their children play and communicate. We couldn’t imagine falling into a meat blender Man Falls Into Meat Blender According to Yahoo News In a horrible industrial accident, a Clackamas, Ore. worker was killed when he fell into a running blender at a meat-processing plant, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. According to an April 30 Yahoo! News report, 41-year-old Portland native Hugo Avalos-Chanon, an employee of DCS Sanitation Management, was cleaning the giant blender overnight on Friday. Interstate Meat Distributors owns the plant, but they contract out with DCS to have their equipment cleaned nightly. Paramedics and sheriff’s deputies were called around 11:45 p.m. Friday, after Avalos-Chanon was found entangled in the machinery. The emergency stop button was hit, but it was too late, Thompson said. Firefighters returned the following day to dismantle the machine and remove the body. Dr. Cliff Young, a deputy state medical examiner, said Avalos-Chanon died from “blunt-force injuries and chopping wounds.” No foul play is expected. Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are now examining evidence, interviewing witnesses and reviewing records, especially after an OSHA review last year found that the machines were not locked during the tear-down process for cleaning. The inspector said last fall that an “unexpected start-up of the machine” could cause injuries. While it has not been ruled out that the accident was caused by a machine-start up, Melanie Mesaros, Oregon OSHA spokeswoman, cautioned against jumping to conclusions. “It’s way too early to say,” Mesaros said. “We’re just starting our investigation, which could take six months.” Darrin Hoy, president of Interstate Meat Distributors, said company officials are cooperating fully with investigators, but Avalos-Chanon’s death was “extremely unfortunate” and difficult to discuss. “We’re not looking forward to reliving through any of it again,” Hoy said. Good news for you Broadway fans. “Kinky Boots” Leads Tony Award Nominations According to NY Times The new Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” led the pack with 13 nominations for the 67th annual Tony Awards, including for best musical, director, actor, score and choreographer, while its chief rival “Matilda” had 12 nominations in many of the same categories. The nominations were announced at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The revival of “Golden Boy” had the most nominations of any play, eight, with the new Tom Hanks play “Lucky Guy” close behind with six nominations. Lead acting nods went to only a handful of the Hollywood stars performing on Broadway this season – Mr. Hanks, Laurie Metcalf, Holland Taylor and Cicely Tyson. Best Musical Horse Race The race for best musical may have four nominees – “Bring It On,” “Matilda,” “Kinky Boots,” and “A Christmas Story” – but only two real contenders: “Matilda” and “Kinky Boots,” both song-and-dance shows with large casts that center on an underdog storyline. “Matilda,” created in England and based on a Roald Dahl children’s novel, received the best reviews of the season for a new musical; “Kinky Boots,” created by the Broadway veterans Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Mitchell and based on a 2005 British movie, received slightly more mixed reviews. The Vampire Diaries’ has cast its latest bad guy, the immortal and mysterious Silas. Actor Scott Parks has been cast in the role, which will be pivotal this spring. It was unclear, given the events of the past few episodes – warning, Vampire Diaries spoilers ahead! – if the ancient witch would ever reveal his true self. Silas can take on any form, an ability he’s already put to good use and surely will again as the CW series’ fourth season gears up for its finale May 16. Could the excessive violence and coarse language be to blame for the shutdown? The film apparently passed the Chinese censors, and had been advertised for weeks.
