We are yet to hear from either betrothed party, but another person close to George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have confirmed the couple’s engagement: The actor’s father! A day after Alamuddin’s law firm released a statement that congratulated these two on their decision to marry, the Oscar winner’s dad told Us Weekly that he’s “thrilled” for his son and future daughter-in-law. Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney Engaged: Who Is She? “We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman and these are two great people,” Nick Clooney says . “We hope for them the best.” And George Clooney’s mom feels the same way. Nina Clooney told Great Britian’s The Daily Mail on Monday that she was “extremely happy” about her child’s engagement, adding of George’s fiancee: “Amal’s a lovely girl. I like her very much.” This will mark Clooney’s second marriage, though he had said on multiple occasions after his 1993 divorce from Talia Balsam that he would never walk down the aisle again. But Alamuddin, a 36-year old British attorney who is respected for her human rights battles, clearly won the actor over with her charm, intelligence and beauty. We wish these two the best! Sometimes, the worst laid plans turn out the best. Earlier this month, Elan Spreiser planned to propose to Koren Lockwood on the observation deck at the top of Rockefeller Center. But rain nixed both that plan and his back-up: popping the question on a horse-and-buggy ride. So while walking near Central Park, Spreiser simply dropped suddenly to a knee and asked for Lockwood’s hand in marriage. She said yes… and a stranger named Jeannae Zuloag just happened to be standing there to capture the moment on camera. “I immediately was like, ‘They need pictures of this moment, they’re going to want pictures,’” Zuloaga told Today. “I think it was just a magical kind of happenstance.” Zuloaga then approached the newly-engaged couple and told them about the fortuitous photos. Said Spreiser in response, hugging the 23-year old: “You’re my favorite person right now, besides [my fiance].” Spreiser also told The Huffington Post via email that she plans on using these pics for her Save-the-Dates. Monday evening’s Dancing with the Stars results saw NeNe Leakes eliminated, having turned in the lowest score of the seven remaining competitors. Amy Purdy, meanwhile, was hospitalized after a rumba to a slowed down rendition of “Light My Fire” by The Doors that earned 36 out of 40 points. Amy Purdy & Derek Hough – Rumba “You lit my fire! First out, first class,” Len Goodman told her, while guest judge Ricky Martin gushed, “You were stunning. You made me feel a lot of things.” Purdy felt mostly pain. She was admitted to hospital shortly after her performance with a shoulder injury and was unable to perform the group routine. The athlete’s efforts in the dress rehearsal dance was used to judge the routine, fittingly performed to “Livin La Vida Loca,” with Amy unable to participate. The team had well wishes for Purdy, who they missed during the number, but she nailed her dress rehearsal performance, which was taken into account. Her status is uncertain, but assuming she can go next week, she’s one of six contestants remaining in this retooled 18th season of the ABC smash. Amy, Charlie White, James Maslow, Danica McKellar, Candace Cameron Bure, and Meryl Davis are all that remains of this spring’s celebrity ensemble. Meryl has dominated the past two weeks with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, while Charlie and James ended up in the bottom three last night with NeNe. Southern California Prosthetics has sent her several pairs to try, including ones she can wear with high heels! No matter what kind of feet she’s rocking, her dancing is pretty amazing.
