When it was first announced that Briana DeJesus would be joining the cast of Teen Mom 2 , both fans of the show and DeJesus’ future co-stars reacted with a combination of irritation and befuddlement. They reasoned that the show already featured plenty of drama, and the addition of a fifth full-time cast member would result in a feeling of overkill. But producers clearly feel that Briana has what it takes to bring the Teen Mom turmoil to the next level – and she’s already proving them right without having filmed a single scene. If you watch Teen Mom 2 online , then you know that the show gets a lot of mileage out of the tension between Javi Marroquin and Kailyn Lowry, exes who have failed miserably in their attempts to form an amicable co-parenting relationship. In the months since their divorce, Kailyn has gotten pregnant for a third time (by a man whose identity she’s keeping secret), while Javi appears to be making the most of life as a young, single pseudo-celebrity. And it seems that these days, the 24-year-old is mainly interested in bedding fellow reality stars. Last month, Javi briefly dated Madison Channing Walls . Now, he appears to be involved with Briana’s sister, Brittany DeJesus. As Radar Online reported today, Javi and Brittany hung out in Los Angeles over the weekend, and Javi documented the trip on Snapchat. The soon-to-be-co-stars (Brittany is expected to figure prominently in Briana’s storyline) enjoyed a night on the town and appeared to be very friendly with one another. Naturally, speculation that Javi and Brittany are more than just friends started circulating as soon as Javi began posting pics. But it wasn’t until the next morning that the rumors really started flying in response to this pic: As you can see, Javi snapped a photo of Brittany in bed, which led many fans to the conclusion that the TM2 stars spent the night together. Javi didn’t offer much in the way of details, but when asked by Radar if he and Brittany are dating, he made it clear that they are not currently involved in a relationship: “Absolutely not,” Marroquin told the site. “We had some business in LA together.” Throwing the DeJesus family into the mix is clearly already paying off for MTV execs, who reportedly hired Briana not only to ramp up the drama, but also to send a message to the other cast members that they’re not as indispensable as they think: “Some of the girls are unreliable with filming and others just are no longer bringing the drama viewers want to see,” a source told Radar. “They needed to spice it up.” View Slideshow: Kailyn Lowry & Javi Marroquin Divorce: A Timeline of Destruction
It’s only been six months since Amber Heard and Johnny Depp finalized their divorce , but Amber has wasted no time in leaving her painful past behind her and moving on with someone new. Nothing helps you get over an old love like a new love, and that’s true times several billion when your rebound dude is none other than Elon Musk. Musk, as you’re probably aware, is the tech genius and entrepreneur behind Tesla and Space-X. His net worth is estimated at about $14 billion. Between being ludicrously wealthy and having access to all of the coolest toys on the planet, we imagine he knows how to show a girl a good time. Musk reportedly took an interest in Heard several years ago while she was still married to Depp, but either he never made a move or she rebuffed his advances for obvious reasons. Whatever the case, Musk reportedly served as a shoulder to cry on in the months following her divorce, and as is so often the case with this sort of scenario, one thing quickly led to another … Heard and Musk traveled to Australia together last week, and yesterday, she made their relationship “Instagram official” with the pic above. Rumors about Heard and Musk dating have been circulating since January, but the couple repeatedly insisted that they were “just friends.” Maybe that was really the case, and they only got romantically involved in recent weeks. But we have our doubts. Amber and Elon are both famous, and they’ve both endured brutal, highly-publicized divorces. We doubt they would go public with their relationship unless enough time had passed for them to both know they’re in it for the long haul. There are concerns amongst Amber’s fans that she’s repeating the sort of tendencies that led her into a destructive relationship with Depp. Like, Johnny, Elon is older, fabulously wealthy, and known for having a short temper. The 45-year-old has also been divorced three times – despite only having married two women. ( Musk and Talulah Riley divorced , remarried, then quickly divorced again.) Here’s hoping Amber is adept at recognizing red flags and knows when she’s getting herself into.
Teen Mom 2 Nation was shocked this winter when MTV made an unprecedented move and added a fifth cast member in Briana DeJesus. It’s still not entirely clear why the network decided to recycle the 16 & Pregnant alum, but we’re beginning to piece together the clues. The above photo of Briana is basically a representation of Jenelle Evans’ brain when she heard the news of DeJesus joining Teen Mom 2 . All of the cast members are pissed about Briana , in fact, and Jenelle, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer and Chelsea Houska may have a point: Why fix what ain’t broke?! These days, more people watch Teen Mom 2 online than ever before, TV ratings are solid, and social engagement is through the roof. If there were ever a formula NOT to mess with, this would appear to be it, but insiders have revealed why the network made the call. “Some of the girls are unreliable with filming, and others just are no longer bringing the drama viewers want to see,” one source said. Hmm. Chelsea Houska is the only one who doesn’t bring non-stop drama, so that’s gotta be her … and Jenelle’s gotta be Ms. Unreliable. Right? In any case, “they needed someone to spice it up,” even if there was no single determining factor that made MTV pull the trigger. Spice it up she will, too. There’s no denying that for a show that thrives on fights, bad boy exes, plastic surgery and baby daddy mysteries, DeJesus is qualified. Briana checks all of the aforementioned boxes and then some, and you can bet your a– she’ll bring the drama to the 2018 season. The 22-year-old frequently clashed with her own mom, Roxanne, on Teen Mom 3, the short-lived spinoff to OG and TM2 from 2013. DeJesus also feuded with the father of her five-year-old daughter Nova, Devoin Austin, a guy who can make Adam Lind look saintly. Okay, maybe that was a little bit of a stretch, but Austin has been arrested for drug possession, burglary, and shoplifting in his heyday. Roxanne even sought a restraining order against Austin at one point, claiming he threatened Briana and that he possessed weapons. Ultimately, that effort was unsuccessful due to insufficient evidence, but it underscores the non-stop tumult that has marked her life. Oh, and perhaps most notably, and most currently, DeJesus is pregnant with her second child , and has yet to reveal the kid’s father. That makes 40 percent of the Teen Mom 2 cast. One would have guessed that Kailyn Lowry had the whole mystery baby daddy angle locked up and all to herself this season. No longer. Speaking of Kailyn, get this: Lowry’s former husband/second baby daddy Javi Marroquin and Brittany DeJesus , Briana’s sister, were just busted in bed together. So there’s that. Javi insisted that there’s nothing going on and they just had “business in LA” together last weekend, but Snapchatting in bed? Honestly? Not a lot of love lost between the Teen Mom 2 cast and Briana, or the Teen Mom 3 cast for that matter. Some haters are just hating. Mackenzie McKee is jealous she didn’t get the job, having gone out of her way to start drama, spam social media and stay relevant. For years. Years! And what does MTV do? Hire her former co-star who’s not NEARLY as popular on Instagram. The indignity. View Slideshow: Briana DeJesus Photos: From 16 & Pregnant to Teen Mom 2! Mackenzie’s feelings aside, Briana is already filming the new season, and will be featured when she show returns, likely next winter. How do you feel about her addition to the cast? Excited for more drama, which there’s no doubt she’ll bring, or sad about less screen time for others? Is MTV tinkering with a show that’s fab as is? Hit the comments below to discuss!
Yesterday, the world learned that Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi star Erin Moran had passed away at the age of 56. While there’s been a good deal of speculation surrounding Moran’s cause of death , authorities investigating the matter have yet to reach any definitive conclusions. But that didn’t stop Chachi himself, Scott Baio, from publicly declaring that he has a pretty good idea of what killed his former co-star. Baio appeared on the Bernie & Sid radio show this morning and was asked how he’s holding up in the wake of Moran’s death. “I’m OK, a little shocked but not completely shocked that this happened,” Baio responded. “My thing is, I feel bad because her whole life, she was troubled, could never find what made her happy and content. For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die.” Yikes. We don’t want to be around when Scott finds out that he’s gonna die even if he doesn’t drink or do drugs. Baio want on to sort of dial back his statement, but wound up sounding confused by his own words. “I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive and you gotta take care of yourself,” he added. “I’m saddened by what happened. I don’t know if it was drugs that killed her, I read one report said it might have been and I hope it … I don’t know what I hope. It’s what it is. What can you do?” Moran was troubled by substance abuse issues throughout her life, but the results of post-mortem toxicology tests are still pending. Shortly after Baio’s interview, sheriffs in Harrison County, Indiana released a statement indicating that Moran probably did not overdose and likely died as a result of complications from cancer: “A joint investigation into Mrs. Moran’s death was conducted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Harrison Country Coroner’s office,” reads the statement. “A subsequent autopsy revealed that Mrs. Moran likely succumbed to complications of stage 4 cancer.” The report adds: “Standard toxicology tests were performed and the results are pending however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.” So while the possibility that Moran overdosed has not been ruled out, it’s far from a certainty – as Scott Baio would have you believe. This has been your daily reminder that Scott Baio is a douche. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam
Yesterday, we learned the sad news that Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi star Erin Moran had passed away at the age of 56. Speculation about the cause of Erin Moran’s death has been rampant, but early on, there was not much in the way of definitive news. That may have just changed. The actress was fed through a gastrointestinal tube, or GI tube, at home with her mother-in-law, according to the coroner’s office. Moran had been receiving treatment for Stage 4 cancer, with the tube in her throat to keep her alive during her tragic final days. The source of this detail asked to remain anonymous pending further details to be released by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. However, they said the coroner found a GI tube during the examination, as well as “ample” evidence that Moran succumbed to Stage 4 cancer . The specific type of cancer was not immediately clear. “It was indicative when they did the autopsy that she was receiving medical care,” the source tells People, which reported the story. A GI tube is usually inserted into the stomach by a physician to provide vital nutrients to patients who cannot feed themselves. It can also be used to reverse the process, removing fluids from a person’s body when a patient is unable to perform the task. The Sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing: “Standard toxicology tests were performed and results are pending, however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.” “There were no illicit substances or anything to suggest foul play,” however, officials conducting the investigation reiterated. If true, this would contradict earlier reports and speculation that Moran, who battled addiction for years, died of an overdose. One of those who fueled that theory was her Joanie Loves Chachi co-star himself, Scott Baio, who spoke out in the wake of her death. Baio appeared on the Bernie & Sid radio show today and wound up weighing in on the subject in a manner he may later regret. Asked how he’s holding up, Scott says he’s not surprised she died : “I’m OK, a little shocked but not completely shocked that this happened.” “My thing is … I feel bad because her whole life, she was troubled, she could never find what made her happy and content.” “For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die.” Baio then tried to walk back that comment somewhat, saying, “I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive.” “You gotta take care of yourself,” he added. “I’m saddened by what happened. I don’t know if it was drugs that killed her, I read one report said it might have been and I hope …” “I don’t know what I hope. It’s what it is.” Moran was troubled by substance abuse issues throughout her life, that much is not in doubt; Baio may have jumped the gun, though. Erin was pronounced dead Saturday at the trailer Moran shared in rural New Salisbury, Indiana, with her husband’s mother. “To my knowledge, they had their own room,” the source said. Both Moran’s husband, Steven Fleischmann, and his mother, Donna Woods, have remained out of the public eye since her passing. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

For centuries, theological seminaries minted trained and licensed ministers of their respective religious traditions. They took seriously their creedal and confessional commitments to their respective faiths and denominations. While comparative theology may have been taught, it was with a view to understand and critically evaluate them as rival truth claims, not equally valid truthful claims. But those dark, backwards days may be behind us if Claremont School of Theology successfully paves the way. Or at least that’s the sentiment conveyed in Time magazine writer Elizabeth Dias’s August 22 article, “Training Pastors, Rabbis, and Imams Together.” Dias’s 10-paragraph-long August 22 article portrayed Claremont president Jerry Campbell as a “classic American” entrepreneur who took a novel approach to the school’s “low enrollment and in-the-red” balance sheet: “end isolated clerical training” by “bring[ing] toegether Claremont, the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) and the Academy for Jewish Religion California.” Of course, religious training deals in matters of eternal verities, not marketplace commodities, so that sort of approach is unwise, religious conservatives would argue. Yet Dias excluded any dissent from her examination into the newly inclusive Methodist seminary. Indeed, Dias’s word choice in the following passage seems to hint conservative critics are opposed to religious tolerance (emphasis mine): To be sure, Claremont’s push to desegregate religious education has encountered its share of roadblocks . The most notable to date occurred in January when questions about Claremont’s commitment to Christian education nearly cost the school its funding and sanction from the United Methodist Church. After a five-month investigation, Campbell prevailed. “We explained clearly to the [Methodist] review team that in fact our United Methodist character continues intact throughout this program,” he said. ” We intend to be the Christian partner in this endeavor, and so we are not changing our United Methodist character essentially in any way.” But how can a Christian seminary grant divinity degrees to persons of religious traditions that it views as false religions? And if Claremont views other religious traditions as equally valid, wouldn’t that by definition be a denial of the truth claims of Christian Scripture, which holds forth Jesus Christ as the only “name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). A thorough religion reporter would explore these questions; sadly Dias failed to do just that.
