Mitt Romney Raps to Eminem in Hilarious Mash-Up

Mitt Romney. Eminem. We never thought those two people would be used in the same THG headline, but one epic music video parody has united them at last. This amazing mash-up of Mitt Romney quotes and Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” takes dead aim at the presidential candidate’s flip-flopping reputation. President Barack Obama and Mitt’s all-but-dispatched GOP rival, Newt Gingrich, also make cameos in “The Real Mitt Romney,” which is a must-see … Will The Real Mitt Romney Please Stand Up (Ft. Eminem) Oxford student Hugh Atkin created the video, combining the Republican candidate’s soundbites and the hit song from the rapper’s 2001 Marshall Mathers LP . Obama begins the video in much the same way as Em begins his track: “May I have your attention please. Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up?” “Y’all act like you haven’t seen a Mormon before… I’m not concerned with the poor,” Mitt says in spliced-together clips from various campaign speeches. As for that catchy chorus, Romney raps, “I’m Mitt Romney and I’m the real Romney … All the other Mitt Romneys are just masturbating.” Obviously. In other mashup news, check out Obama singing “Sexy and I Know It” !

Eminem Keeping June 22 Recovery Release Date, Despite Leak

MC has often moved up release dates after album leaks in the past. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem’s Recovery album Photo: Interscope Eminem changed the rules regarding album’s traditional Tuesday releases in the past, when the MC would push up the date by weeks after his projects were bootlegged or leaked online. Now, with his forthcoming Recovery set having hit the Web two weeks early , the rapper has reportedly decided to keep the same June 22 release date. According to XXLmag.com , a representative for Em confirmed the date would stay the same despite the album being available illegally. An Interscope Records spokesperson was unavailable at press time when contacted by MTV News. Recovery arrived online and via blogs earlier this week, following the lead single “Not Afraid” and the Pink-assisted “Won’t Back Down” . The first video from the project, “Not Afraid,” premiered Sunday and departs from the rapper’s usual satirical efforts. Last month, Eminem revealed the tracklisting for Recovery, and the rapper chose to work with Lil Wayne, Pink, and Rihanna for the project. In the past, he’s kept his circle of collaborators short, mostly limited to the Shady/Aftermath camp, including Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. For this collection, however, Eminem chose to work with a bevy of new contributors, such as producers Just Blaze, Jim Johnson, and DJ Khalil. “A lot of good music is being made [by Eminem],” Just Blaze told MTV News in April. “He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” Are you excited to hear Eminem’s new album? T.I. Premieres Second Single From King Uncaged

‘Prison ain’t change me, it made me worse,’ an aggressive T.I. raps on ‘Yeah Ya Know (Takers).’ By Jayson Rodriguez T.I. in NYC on April 20, 2010 Photo: Shareif Ziyadat/ FilmMagic T.I. debuted the second song from his upcoming King Uncaged album on Monday evening (May 24), via his personal website, TrapMuzik.com . Produced by longtime collaborator DJ Toomp, “Yeah Ya Know (Takers)” appears to double as a number from the forthcoming film “Takers,” in which T.I. stars alongside Chris Brown and Matt Dillon. A representative from the rapper’s label, Atlantic, was unable to confirm this as of press time. A more aggressive T.I. can be heard on “Yeah Ya Know (Takers)” — a harder posture than the one he takes on his previous King Uncaged effort, “I’m Back,” which marked the Atlanta MC’s first output since his federal imprisonment ended earlier this year. T.I. shouts during the song’s spoken outro, “Prison ain’t change me, it made me worse. Right, ‘Pac? If I want it, I’ma come get it. I ain’t asking for it — I’mma take it. We takers.” On the chorus, he references his drug-dealing past and the transition to becoming a superstar lyricist. “I went from rolling with the rocks on the block,” T.I. raps. “To controlling my position at the top of every chart, and I will not stop/ Then we ride, then we roll, then you stop, and we go, yeah ya know.” The charismatic MC has kept a low profile since he finished serving out his post-jail sentence in a halfway house. He released “I’m Back” and later appeared with CNN’s Larry King for his first interview, telling the legendary host “depression and paranoia” led to his arrest. “It came from an attempt that was made on my life,” Tip explained. “My best friend [Philant Johnson] had died in my arms. It caused a state of depression and paranoia. My judgment was jaded, and I felt my life was in danger. … At the time, when I felt the need to have these [weapons], I never took into consideration the legalities; I only took into consideration the protection of my life and family.” On Monday, T.I. is also slated to post an interview on his website that was conducted by Jamie Foxx. His album is due August 17. Are you excited to hear new T.I. music? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists T.I.

Plies Announces Goon Affiliated 25 Day Giveaway Contest

Rapper will answer a hotline and give away everything from jewelry to mortgage payments. By Shaheem Reid Plies Photo: Atlantic A Goon with a heart of gold? Plies says he isn’t holding your ordinary album promotion contest. The MC who has endeared himself to fans with records like “Plenty Money,” “Please Excuse My Hands” and “Wasted,” is upping the ante for his next album, Goon Affiliated. The Florida native has announced a contest called the Goon Affiliated 25 Day Giveaway. Plies told MTV News that he’s holding the contest for “everybody who’s been supporting me since my mixtape days, all the way to Da Realest, to my brand new situation, Goon Affiliated, due May 25,” he said. “Every day, for 25 straight days, I’m going to be giving away my own personal items. Big sh–. Real big sh–.” Fans can call a toll-free hotline from May 1 to May 25, and if the lauded street MC picks up the phone, the caller will win a prize. Exactly what prizes can you get? Well in addition to iPads and jewelry from the rapper’s personal collection, Plies will fork over major moola in the form of some rather practical assistance: scholarships for college, health care and mortgage payments, among other big-ticket items. Fans can register by sending an e-mail to May25GoonAffiliated@gmail.com, then they can call the Goon Affiliated 25 Day Giveaway hotline at 866-983-2111. Plies is going to answer the phone once a day, and 25 prizes in total will be given away. Last year, Plies explained how he and his brother, Big Gates, decided on the album’s title. “For me, we felt Goon Affiliated wasn’t too gangsta, wasn’t too soft,” he told Mixtape Daily. “It was right in the middle. Kids in the suburbs could have goon friends and be goon affiliated. You could be a street cat and not call yourself a ‘goon’ but have goon homeboys and be goon affiliated. Or you could be a goon and be goon affiliated. It’s a whole diverse situation for me.” Plies’ current single and video is called “She’s Got It Made.” He also appears as a guest on Young Jeezy’s “Lose My Mind.” The video for that track premieres on Monday on MTV. What would you say to Plies if you got him on the phone? Talk about it in the comments! Related Artists Plies

Eminem Says ‘There Is No Relapse 2’

After repeated delays in releasing Relapse follow-up, rapper tweeted that the project has been scrapped. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Chelsea Lauren/ Getty Images Last spring, Eminem promised to drop a sequel to his Relapse album in late 2009, announcing that he’d almost finished work on the follow-up to his comeback effort. “It’s extremely close to being finished,” he said of the sequel LP. “It just depends on how many songs I wanna put on it.” Then, the rapper pushed the release back to 2010. And early Wednesday morning, he did a complete reversal, tweeting , “There is no Relapse 2. ” It was the first tweet from the rapper since March 29, when he promised, “Don’t worry. Some big news is coming. Soon.” With no elaboration, the latest terse missive sent fans into wild speculation about whether the notoriously exacting, and reclusive, MC had decided to completely scrap the album, or if he is headed back into semi-retirement. A spokesperson for Eminem could not be reached for comment at press time to elaborate on what his future plans are and what will become of the tracks he’d recorded for Relapse 2. Just last week, producer Just Blaze told MTV News that he’d been working on new songs for Eminem, saying “[the album], it’s getting there, but we still got a lot of work.” Though he was sworn to secrecy, Blaze did reveal that “a lot of good music is being made. … He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” In addition to seemingly working on exciting new music, Em will also pop up alongside Paramore’s Hayley Williams on B.o.B.’s upcoming debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray. Williams was hyped about Slim Shady’s rhymes on the track they did together, “Airplanes (Part II),” saying, “he just slays me, he’s such a genius.” Related Artists Eminem
