Jackson Roloff Had the BEST Time at the Zoo!

Grandparents and grandchildren share a special bond. The Roloffs are certainly no exception. Matt Roloff took to social media to share that it’s getting harder for him to spend time away from his grandbabies, even for just a few days. And we can see why — because in the mean time, Zach Roloff took sweet baby Jackson on a surprise trip to the zoo. And these pictures are golden. This year, Matt Roloff got to welcome two grandchildren into the world. His first two. Early this summer, sweet Jackson Roloff was born . And then, only four months later, precious Ember Jean was born . As a grandparent, that’s a dream come true. (It’s also, we’re sure, exciting stuff for Zach and Tori and for Jeremy and Auj, what with becoming parents and all) Here’s the thing, though. Matt Roloff lives on Roloff Farms with most of the rest of his family, but he has a habit of heading down to Arizona. Most of us are sick to death of this warm weather and would like to squeeze in a few weeks of fall weather before winter arrives, but Matt Roloff likes to enjoy downtime and the warmer weather that Arizona has to offer. But he’s taken to social media to share how difficult that trip is becoming, for one — or two — adorable reasons. Matt Roloff shared this precious photo of his son, Zach, and his grandson, Jackson. Jackson, you can just barely tell, is still dressed like a pumpkin. What a delight. Matt’s caption for the photo, however, proved to be bittersweet: “Had to say good bye to these guys for a couple of days …” Awww, we know that it’s not easy. Especially when you can’t explain to a baby why they won’t see you for a few days. Matt continued: “Headed to Arizona in search of some warm sunny weather..” Again, we’ve absolutely had our fill of warmth and sunlight for 2017, but some people like it more than others. (And we should remember that Matt Roloff is a grandparent and some people, as they get older, become sensitive to cold, particularly in their joints) “Getting harder and harder to leave even just for a few days. Can’t stand to miss even a minute with these precious grand kids.” You know, that’s normal for grandparents who live exceptionally close to their grandchildren. Kids can change overnight. What if your grandbaby learns a new word and you’re not there? What if they learn to walk? And Zach Roloff took to Instagram to share what Jackson got up to. Zach and Tori took Jackson on an impromptu zoo trip. As Zach explains, he’s not usually a huge fan of the zoo: “Great day at the Zoo and World Forestry Discovery Center Museum. Never been too much of a fan of zoos because all the people and the small enclosures but today was class. Nobody was there and the animals were all out. Great day with the family as well.” The trick to visiting lots of places is to go there when it’s not crowded. It’s like going out to dinner on a Tuesday instead of on Friday night. Zach also hinted at a reason that he, especially, might not be comfortable in big crowds … and it’s not his height. Not directly. Zach ended his post with Samuel 16:7, a biblical passage about ignoring what a person looks like because what matters is what they look like on the inside. Interestingly, in context, the passage is referring to a super good-looking man whom the faithful are supposed to reject, but we can see how the words could be a great comfort to someone who feels judged for his appearance by total strangers. And speaking of being judged, Zach and these adorable baby photos got actual hate in the comments for going to a zoo. Zoo animals are either born in captivity or rescued, folks. Often rescued from actual horrible conditions. There are some bad zoos in the world, but most of them are essentially massive animal rescues with habitats and trained professionals. Don’t hate someone for supporting an educational facility that brings joy to children while helping countless wild and even endangered species. Just relax and look at the cute baby: View Slideshow: Jackson Roloff Baby Photos: OMG! He’s So Cute!

Wait, What? London Mayor Claims Obama Has A Dislike For Great Britain Because Of Kenyan Heritage

President Obama Responds To Boris Johnson’s “Dog-Whistle Racist” Comments About His Kenyan Ancestry London Mayor Boris Johnson is being branded a racist after claiming Obama has an “ancestral dislike” for Britain as a result of his “part-Kenyan” heritage. In case you missed it, Obama is currently visiting London, but not everyone has been welcoming. According to Al Jazeera reports : In an opinion essay published in the right-leaning tabloid The Sun , the mayor criticized Obama’s eagerness to urge British voters to remain in the EU and argued that the president may be “anti- British”. Johnson, who is seen as the unofficial leader of the campaign for the UK to leave the EU, claimed in his article that Obama removed a bust of Britain’s war-time prime minister Sir Winston Churchill from the Oval Office shortly after he took office in 2009. “Some said it was a snub to Britain. Some said it was a symbol of the part-Kenyan president’s ancestral dislike of the British empire – of which Churchill had been such a fervent defender” wrote the London mayor. Sheesh… This guy is a piece of work. Fortunately not all Brits are buying his line of reasoning: Tory MP Sir Nicholas Soames, who is the grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, said Johnson’s comments were “appalling” and “totally wrong on almost everything”. “Time and time again, his judgment is awry and he shows in this article a remarkable disregard for the facts, the truth and for all judgment,” he told LBC radio. “I don’t think Boris has the stature to be leader.” Sir Nicholas also said it was inconceivable that Churchill would not have welcomed the views of Obama. John McDonnell, Labour Party’s shadow chancellor, suggested that Johnson’s remarks were “racist”. “Mask slips again,” he tweeted. “Boris part-Kenyan Obama comment is yet another example of dog-whistle racism from senior Tories. He should withdraw it.” Obama responded to Johnson’s comments in a press conference revealing he still keeps a bust of Churchill, but moved it in favor of one of MLK: Talking next to British Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama said he loved Churchill and still had a bust of the British leader in his White House private residence. “Right outside the door of the Treaty Room, so that I see it every day – including on weekends when I’m going into that office to watch a basketball game – the primary image I see is a bust of Winston Churchill,” he said. “It’s there voluntarily because I can do anything on the second floor. I love Winston Churchill. Love the guy.” Obama said there was a bust of Churchill in the Oval Office during the presidency of his predecessor George W Bush but he decided that he would have a bust of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King in his office instead. “I thought it was appropriate – and I think most people in the United Kingdom might agree – that as the first African-American president, it might be appropriate to have a bust of Dr Martin Luther King in my office,” he said. Barry-O told him! Gotta love Obama for always staying cool no matter how ugly his critics get. And this guy is super UGLY. WENN

Virginia Governor Signs Executive Order That Allows Felons To Vote

Virginia Governor Signs Executive Order That Allows Felons To Vote Again Rather than having Republicans shut down the idea of restoring felons their voting rights, Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe used his executive power and restored voting rights to hundreds of thousands of felons on Friday. From the New York Times : Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia used his executive power on Friday to restore voting rights to more than 200,000 convicted felons, circumventing the Republican-run legislature. The action effectively overturns a Civil War-era provision in the state’s Constitution aimed, he said, at disenfranchising African-Americans. The sweeping order, in a swing state that could play a role in deciding the November presidential election, will enable all felons who have served their prison time and finished parole or probation to register to vote. Most are African-Americans, a core constituency of Democrats, Mr. McAuliffe’s political party. Amid intensifying national attention over harsh sentencing policies that have disproportionately affected African-Americans, governors and legislatures around the nation have been debating — and often fighting over — moves to restore voting rights for convicted felons. Virginia imposes especially harsh restrictions, barring felons from voting for life. “There’s no question that we’ve had a horrible history in voting rights as relates to African-Americans — we should remedy it,” Mr. McAuliffe said in an interview Thursday, previewing the announcement he made on the steps of Virginia’s Capitol, just yards from where President Abraham Lincoln once addressed freed slaves. “We should do it as soon as we possibly can.” It’s said that an estimated 5.84 million Americans are denied the right to vote because of felony convictions.

Everlasting Love: Elderly Italian Couple Married For 69 Years Die Within An Hour Of Each Other At Nursing Home

Wow, this is really touching. Can you imagine loving someone else so much your heart just stops when their life ends? Via NY Daily News reports: Livia Fortuna cried out for Giuseppe — her dear husband — moments after his death only to succumb to her own broken heart. The Italian pair, Giuseppe and Livia Fortuna, died within one hour of each other after 69 years of marriage after falling in love in Rome. They couldn’t bear to be apart even at the Smith House Health Care Center in Stamford, Connecticut where they lived together until their death Dec. 13 following years of declining health. “That was the end of the love story. She had to follow him,” the couple’s daughter Angela Munzenmair told the Stamford Advocate. The couple had married in Italy before the end of World War II. The first 15 years of their marriage were spent raising their children and running a Tuscan restaurant. She described her parent’s relationship as volatile with petty fighting, but only because they “liked making up so much,” Munzenmair added. Only a week before their death, Livia told her grandson that Giuseppe was dying and she’d be “going with him.” He suffered from dementia and cancer while Livia had chronic obstructive lung disease, according to the Advocate. His death sent the 86-year-old wife into an emotional fit, screaming for her Giuseppe as the nursing staff tried to keep her calm. “They probably couldn’t live without the other,” Munzenmair said. “They are in a good place and don’t have to suffer anymore … they can just be happy.” It’s rare for spouses to die within minutes of each other, psychiatric experts told the Advocate, but it’s possible through extreme depression or by halting medication, the other spouse could essentially die of a so-called broken heart. Sweet story right? Our condolences go out to their family, but it’s heartwarming to know those two are still together in the afterlife. Courtesy Photo Continue reading
