Dust off your old Harlem Shake moves for this one. Wayne released a visual for his hit single “Uproar,” and unsurprisingly, went the dance route with it since that’s all social media has been able to do since his album hit the streams. Are you feeling it? Photo by Erika Goldring/Getty Images
Source: Dave Kotinsky / Getty After years of frustration and anticipation, Lil Wayne finally dropped Tha Carter V on Friday. Of course, fans made their opinions known on Twitter, but one song in particular is bringing the nostalgia and I’m not talking about 2008 “A Milli” feels. I’m talking way back to 2002 when G. Dep dropped his Bad Boy Records banger “Special Delivery.” Wayne sampled the song on the third track from The Carter V called “Uproar.” “Special Delivery” was released as a single from G. Dep’s debut album Child of the Ghetto. The music video was notable for featuring the popular dance The Harlem Shake. Kids from the clip showed off their shoulder action and soon a dance that was once known as a New York style was spread across the world. When listeners heard Lil Wayne’s “Uproar” they couldn’t help but take it back to the early 2000s. An #UproarChallenge even started gaining traction on social media. Just take it from @based_soc on Instagram. G. Dep had previously featured the dance in the music video for his debut single “Let’s Get It,” but with “Special Delivery” the moves were cemented in music culture. Artists were using the dance left and right for their music videos or performances, including Bow Wow for his 2002 music video “Take Ya Home.” Years later, The Harlem Shake would surge in popularity again, but unfortunately it was due to the electronic music producer Baauer , and the dance that came from his song had nothing to do with the moves from Harlem. The backlash from Harlem and people familiar with the original dance caused the media to revisit the history of the moves. According to DNAinfo.com , The Harlem Shake was created back in the 1980s by a Harlem resident named Albert Leopold Boyce a.k.a. “Al B.” According to his mom, Al B. would perform the dance at the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic tournament in Harlem’s Rucker Park. Ironically, Al B. had an alcohol problem, so his gyrating moves that would become known as The Harlem Shake probably had something to do with his public intoxication. But no matter how the dance came about, the community took hold of the moves dubbing it the “Al B.” Decades later, shakers around the world are re-inspired thanks to Wayne’s “Uproar.” Hit the next pages to check out more dancers showing off their revived Harlem Shake!
Who says the Harlem Shake is dead?!? Not a couple who got married at the First Friends Church in Salem, Ohio over the weekend. Just as the bride and groom are being announced husband and wife, the entire wedding party stops and breaks into this viral dance. Heck, even the pastor gets his Shake on! Watch the action unfold below and then compare these moves to others in our collection of Harlem Shake videos . Wedding Harlem Shake
What happens when you put Mad Men on speed? It becomes way more awesome (who knew that was possible?)! Just like everything on speed! …Say no to drugs, kids. This week’s episode is called “The Crash,” and like most of the show’s episode titles, it has a ton of meanings. First, there’s the literal crash Ken gets into with the guys from Chevy. But of course, that’s just a metaphor for the slow crash that SCDPCGC is going to be enduring with the nightmare of an account that Chevy will be. Then, there’s Don’s total, head-first, fiery, pathetic crash into lovesickness over Sylvia. And of course, let’s not forget the most awesome crash of all: the comedown from the crazy speed that Jim Cutler had injected into the entire creative staff’s asses. Through all the drugged-up lunacy of the episode, “The Crash” really hit home Don’s severe, deep-seeded Mommy issues. We’ve always known that his inability to maintain anything even resembling a functional relationship was partly due to killing his prostitute mother in childbirth and being raised by his step mother…around more prostitutes. But this week we really saw the brunt of it. Firstly, Don has no clue what he’s after. He doesn’t even know what happiness looks like. The fact that Sylvia cut off her affair with Don sends him into a spiral. Now that their relationship isn’t something he can control, he wants her even more. But he’s just searching for a Mommy, for God’s sake. And she can’t be that. Don will never have a Mommy. He has so little of a Mommy that Sally was actually able to believe—even for a second—that a strange old Black lady that mysteriously showed up in Don’s apartment while he was gone could seriously be his Grandma. Sally later tells Don over the phone, after the woman makes off with a bunch of Don’s valuables, that she “realized she doesn’t know anything about him.” That’s because Don doesn’t exist. Don is actually Dick, and Dick’s very existence killed his mother, who was just a prostitute who accidentally got pregnant, anyway. In short, Don has no identity. That used to make for an exciting life. Don got to be whoever he wanted to be. But now, finally, all of his complexes are crashing down. And Don just desperately needs a Mommy. He needs an identity. He needs a foundation, something to reach down into when he’s lost. Right now he’s got no compass whatsoever. The speed also brings out the long-gestating romantic tension between Stan and Peggy. While he’s on the juice and she’s on the sauce, he tries to kiss her. She tells him that she doesn’t like beards, and that he’s like a brother to her, but that doesn’t stop him. “I need this,” he tells her. After he gives her a story about his cousin dying in Nam, she still rejects him, and as she walks away he compliments her ass. Her reply? A genuine “Thank you.” More of that is surely to come. As the episode closes, after Don’s literal crash in his apartment when he comes home from a three-day work binge, some sleep and a shower changes everything. On speed, Don was planning to pitch his love to Sylvia. After the crash, when they have to share an elevator, he says nothing to her. On speed, Don is motivated as hell regarding the Chevy account (well, he wasn’t actually working on Chevy, he was working on his Sylvia pitch, but he was motivating everyone else to work on Chevy). After the crash, he basically tells Ted, who is only there because of Chevy, that he can’t do Chevy anymore. Don! Stop destroying EVERYTHING!!! OTHER NOTES: Frank Gleason’s death felt underwhelming. Perhaps it will serve a greater purpose further down the line. This episode was almost completely devoid of Pete and Joan, as the whole thing focused on the copywriters trying to find that perfect pitch for Chevy. Pete’s absence felt appropriate, given his paranoia about being iced out of the company. Look for this to come up again in a big way as the season comes to a close. Creative has always been a really fun aspect of Mad Men , in fact, it’s basically the entire hook of the show. Watching them try to come up with even one workable slogan while high out of their minds was a blast. Don’s silences are becoming more and more pointed. Every time he ignores a question or sits next to someone while staring into the foreground, you can just feel him trying desperately to suppress the torrid of thoughts running through his head. It’s not gonna work, Donny boy. Let ‘em out. This was the first fantastic episode of the season. RATING: 5/5

A body pulled from the water just offshore in a Providence, R.I., park was that of Sunil Tripathi, a Brown University student missing since last month. Tripathi was identified through a forensic dental exam. He was just 22. A cause of death has not been determined, but the news puts an end to the mystery of his disappearance, which became doubly painful for his family. Amateur online sleuths wrongly identified him as a possible suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. Of course, this turned out not to be the case. Tripathi’s family, of Bryn Mawr, Pa., said they were overcome with grief but grateful for the outpouring of support relatives got over the last month. “As we carry indescribable grief, we also feel incredible gratitude,” the Tripathi family said in a statement on a Facebook page set up to help find Tripathi. “We extend our thanks for the words of encouragement, for your thoughts, your hands, your prayers, and the love you have so generously shared.” Saddened, worried and confused by his vanishing, Tripathi’s family had been searching for him since mid-March with help from the FBI and fellow students. The student, who went by Sunny, had “been going through a difficult time.” His sister, Sangeeta, said he left his phone, wallet and belongings in his apartment near campus and simply disappeared. He was on leave from Brown. Last week, chatter on Reddit and 4Chan indicated that Sunil Tripathi may have been one of two suspects in the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings. Se some thought he resembled one of the people in photos released by the FBI. That person later turned out to be 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev . Reddit later apologized for fueling “online witch hunts and dangerous speculation which spiraled into very negative consequences for innocent parties.” R.I.P. Sunny.
Nicki Minaj is becoming an actress! Joining the ranks of non-acting celebs turned actors such like Kim Kardashian , Andre 3000, Paris Hilton, and RZA, the rapper and American Idol host has joined the cast of The Other Woman . The Nick Cassavetes film stars Cameron Diaz as a woman who comes to realize that her boyfriend is married. So, she joins forces with the man’s wife to seek retaliation. Minaj will play Diaz’s assistant in the film. This will not be the first movie the singer has been in, as she voiced a character in last year’s Ice Age: Continental Drift . It will, however, be her first live-action role.
Sure, the Harlem Shake looks easy. Heck, the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves can do it . But this viral trend isn’t always as safe as it appears… at least not when done around a fire and not when (we presume) a bit of alcohol is involved. Watch a few guys in Germany give the dance a shot in the following video, only for one to go down in a blaze of glory. Literally!!! Harlem Shake: Fire!
Sick of the Harlem Shake? And/or the Miami Heat? Boy do we have a must-see video for you then! Just when peeps were starting to declare the meme so over , LeBron James and the Miami Heat Harlem Shake video breathed new life into it last week. Deservedly so, as the Heat Shake was admittedly sweet. But for their game in Minnesota Monday, the T-Wolves produced this just for the occasion: Timberwolves Harlem Shake Pretty epic takedown right there, but Miami, as usual, had the last laugh. They won a franchise-record 15th game in a row, routing the Wolves 97-81.
