If you're familiar with Chet Haze, it's probably because social media has basically reduced the rapper son of Tom Hanks to a living meme. Obviously, it's easy to poke fun at the white, privileged offspring of one of America's most celebrated nice-guy actors when the guy chooses to speak with an “urban” accent and previously made the unfortunate decision to pepper his speech with n-bombs. But, it's also easy to forget that Chet is a human being who seems to be making an effort to change himself for the better. After struggling with substance abuse, Chet is sober now; he's carved out a decent acting career for himself, with a recurring part on the Showtime series Shameless , and is his fans learned yesterday, Haze has been a father for quite some time. Chet made the revelation in an Instagram video posted yesterday. He began with an apology for his absence from the 'Gram: “I've been figuring out my life, which is what we're all doing, and social media is all bullsh-t,” Chet tells the camera. “I want to share something today because it's about to be shared anyway in the press, which is the fact that I have a daughter,” he went on to say. “it hasn't been easy making all my mistakes in public. But I'm figuring it out.” “She’s not something to be posted,” he explained. “She’s something that I love, that’s changed my life but the fact is she’s about to be shared with everybody so I wanted you to hear it from me.” Haze checked into rehab last year, and he credits his daughter with his decision to turn his life around: “She's the reason why I turned my life around and got sober,” he says. “I've been sober — for over a year and a half — from everything.” No word on how old the girl is, but our very belated congrats go out to Chet on becoming a dad, as well as to Tom on the new granddaughter!
For the past several days, stunning reports from across the Internet have alleged that Kim Kardashian may divorce Kanye West . There’s been talk that Kim has met with an attorney already and is simply sick and tired of Kanye’s nonsense. The stars have allegedly grown apart ever since Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in early October, an incident that caused her to shy away from the spotlight and NOT go on tour with her husband for the first time in years. As a result, there’s supposedly tension between Kim and Kanye, although all reports to date have claimed that she’s the one considering a split. All reports until THIS one right here, that is. According to Page Six of The New York Post, West is fearful of becoming the next Kardashian “casualty.’ He’s aware that Kris Humphries is no longer a household name… and that Lamar Odom has fallen off the wagon… and that nearly every man who a Kardashian or Jenner touches ends up regretting his association with this family. Could someone as successful as Kanye West fall prey to this curse? Anything is possible. “People around [West] are like, ‘He needs to get away from those crazy people.’ It’s just a curse over there,” an insider tells Page Six, adding: “Anything with the Kardashians is tarnished and . . . they’re opportunistic people who completely take advantage of him.” And while one might think that Kanye could never see himself being taken advantage of, the same insider claims that the rapper understands where his pals are coming from. “Even [Kanye’s] like, ‘F-ck this, I’m not going to be the next casualty,” the source says. Kardashian and her kids are reportedly shacking up with Kris Jenner for awhile, at least until things calm down inside their regular home. The rapper was released this month after nine days in the hospital for a nervous breakdown and is still receiving outpatient treatment. He has a long way to go until he’s in the mental clear. Similarly, Kardashian is still feeling the negative effects of the aforementioned robbery. Both have some major issues on their plates. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to work on these issues together, or if the once-stable couple will be torn apart. There’s no definitive answer at the moment. In the same Page Six report that claimed Kanye wants to avoid becoming the next Kardashian victim, another insider says the following: “The divorce stuff is totally untrue. If anything – with everything that’s been going on between the robbery and this episode with him – it’s brought them closer. “Kim has been right by his side and they’ve gotten closer than ever through it…. “[The divorce rumor] is completely bogus and lame because it makes her look like she’s abandoning him in his time of need. It’s totally wrong. His friends want to be supportive of them and of her.” You may go ahead and believe whichever side to this story you want. It does seem interesting that neither Kim nor Kanye would issue any kind of statement to shoot down divorce chatter, doesn’t it? Back in Farrah Abraham endorsed Donald Trump for president . Now, the evil clown of the Teen Mom franchise is taking a page from her political counterpart’s playbook. Or at least copying and pasting some of his angriest tweets. As we reported earlier, Farrah is feuding with Kailyn Lowry in one of the most one-sided celebrity feuds in recent memory. Basically, Farrah is engaging in one of her usual bullying campaigns; Kailyn is standing up to her; and absolutely no one is on Farrah’s side, which is enough to give us a shred of hope in the future of humanity. For reasons that remain unclear, Farrah recently accused Kailyn of getting pregnant for a second time in order to remain relevant. Considering Kailyn was in her twenties, married, and already starring on a reality show at the time of her second pregnancy, it was sort of an odd claim to make. Kailyn pointed this out and also criticized Farrah for picking a fight with Amber Portwood on the latest reunion show, and that was enough to make Farrah change course and lock onto a new target, like some sort of surgically-enhanced Terminator. “Hey @F1abraham, do you ever have anything nice to say about anyone?” Kailyn tweeted yesterday, in response to Farrah’s latest trash-talk. “Yes real people who aren’t fake puppets of @mjfree production company,” Farrah replied, referring to the company that produces Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 . “Thanks for asking sweetie hope you stay out of the drama.” “Hard to stay out of it when you bring my name into interviews and say I got pregnant to stay relevant,” Kailyn aptly pointed out. Realizing the entirety of Teen Mom Twitter had Kailyn’s back, Farrah stopped replying and started trying to play the victim: “I never said anything and I have no idea why she’s causing a fight to get attention,” Farrah told Radar Online in a recent interview. “I’m over all the other Teen Moms and I’m bored with their antics.” Farrah is often and accurately described as not all that bright, but she’s realizes that Trump’s America is a place where facts hold no power, and idiocy is no longer a detriment. Soon, the student will become the master. Clearly Farrah is well prepared for her 2020 presidential run. You didn’t think you’d get out of 2016 without one last Duggar sex scandal, did you? Ha! This dumpster fire of a year hasn’t given us any breaks for the past 11 months, and it looks like it has no intention of starting now. Unfortunately, while we’re maintaining hope that 2017 will contain fewer unexpected celebrity deaths, it’s hard to be even a little optimistic when it comes to the Duggars’ future. The family first fell from grace back in May of 2015, when the world learned that Josh Duggar molested several young girls , including four of his sisters, while he was a teenager. The Duggars’ reputation was further damaged by the revelation that Josh’s parents helped him hide his crimes from the authorities. Not long thereafter, it was revealed that Josh had an account with Ashley Madison , a website designed to help married people find cheating partners. It was hard to imagine that things could get any worse for a family who had risen to fame by holding themselves up as paragons of family values and Christian virtue. Remarkably, however, enough fans were willing to forgive the family that they were given a second shot at reality stardom with Counting On , a spin-off focusing on the Duggar children, with occasional cameos from parents Jim Bob and Michelle (and no mention of Josh). The show has maintained mediocre ratings throughout a four-episode trial run and two full seasons, even as the Duggars endured scandals that would have sunk reality stars with less loyal fan bases. While Jim Bob and Michelle’s 18 younger kids have thus far managed to avoid any major controversies, several members of the family’s inner circle have been felled by scandal, including the Duggars’ former minister Bill Gothard. Gothard resigned in disgrace after more than a dozen women, many of them former employees, came forward to accuse the evangelist of various acts of sexual impropriety. Now, another high-profile minister with ties to the Duggars has been embroiled in a sex scandal, and it looks as though he too will step away from his profession as a result. Clayton Jennings is a popular youth preacher, whose self-produced faith-based film Strayland performed better than expected when it was released in 2010, earning Jennings a modicum of fame among Southern evangelicals. According to a blog entitled the Polemics Report, Jennings has stepped away from his ministry following the revelation that he used his position of authority to coerce young women into sex. (The journalist who first exposed Jennings says the 28-year-old pastor sent him “a large sum of money” to stop investigating the matter.) In recent weeks, Jennings has posted several videos in the vein of the goofy slam-poetry-style “confession” below, in an effort to clear his name. He would then take my hands in an effort to ‘teach me what to do.’ I felt like a broken record telling him that I was a virgin and wanted to save myself for marriage. “We didn’t actually have sex, but I was pressured into being sexually intimate with him in other ways. The NBC drama This Is Us has proven to be one of the few network success stories of the fall TV season. In an era of reboots, sequel series, and low-budget reality television, This Is Us feels like a throwback to a bygone era: A critically beloved, intimate family drama that emphasizes intensely personal storylines and skilled performances over gimmicks and special effects. While Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Hayden seem to be receiving the majority of the acclaim, relative unknown Chrissy Metz has also emerged as a favorite of viewers and critics alike. Metz’s character, Kate, struggles to lose weight, and there’s a storyline in which Kate decides to undergo gastric bypass surgery. In a recent interview with People magazine, Metz indicated that she signed a contract stipulating that she and Kate would be taking the same weight loss journey: “It’s definitely a conversation that we’ve had, and it’s in my contract,” she said, adding that both she and her character would be shedding pounds “in a healthy manner.” Not surprisingly, the statement has met with a fair amount of controversy, as many expressed shock that NBC would require than an actress lose weight before she could sign on to accept a role. Now, Metz is clarifying the matter and insisting that she merely misspoke when she referenced her contract: “It wasn’t mandated in the contract, and I probably — if I ever said the word contract, I didn’t mean it in that way,” she said while speaking to People at an event in LA on Friday, “I was pitched that the trajectory of Kate is that she’s going to lose weight. That is who and what’s going on.” Metz says there is no requirement that she lose weight or get down to a certain size, but adds that she plans to use her character’s arc as an added incentive for her own weight loss goals: “Why not have a motivation beyond me to get to a healthy weight?” she said. “Every actor does that. Meghan and Harry successfully kept their relationship on the down-low for a few weeks, but it seems it didn’t take them long to decide that they’re serious enough to go public. As far was we can tell they met in September, but from the way they’re rushing in, you’d think that one of they’d been together much longer. (Or that one of them is royalty and the other stars in a show that’s survived for six seasons despite only ever being watched by your mother-in-law.) First, Harry issued a statement about his relationship with Markle. Shortly thereafter, we learned that Meghan is staying at Kensington Palace when she’s not busy with work. Now, it seems that when she is busy with work, Harry goes to insane lengths to spend even short amounts of time with Meghan. According to UK tabloid The Sun , Harry was recently on a tour of the Caribbean, and instead of returning home when scheduled, he decided to make a detour to Canada, where Meghan is currently filming. The trip took Harry 1,700 miles out of his way, and sources claim the royal and his new lady spent just one night together before he had to return to London. Scott Weiland Scott Weiland was found dead in his tour bus in December of 2015. He passed away from cardiac arrest. 5. Andy Gibb Andy Gibb struggled with substance abuse and died of a heart ailment in 1988, just prior to his 30th birthday. 6. Very sad news today out of the sports world: Rashaan Salaam, a former Heisman Trophy winner and star running back at the University of Colorado, was found dead in a park new Boulder. He was 42 years old. Salaam’s body was discovered in a parking lot at Eben G. Fine Park and a 911 was subsequently placed just before 9 p.m. on Monday, per Boulder Police spokesperson Shannon Cordingly. There were no signs of foul play. But a note was found on the scene and authorities told Salaam’s mother that they believe he committed suicide. The park is not even two miles away from Folsom Field, where Salaam starred for Colorado, winning the most prestigious trophy in college athletics in 1994. That year, he rushed for 2,055 and 24 touchdowns and also won the Walter Camp and Doak Walker awards. He was selected in the first round a year later by the Chicago Bears and would go on to become the youngest professional running back to gain at least 1,000 yards in a season. Following a number of injuries, however, Salaam was out of the NFL by 2004. “The Buff Family has lost an outstanding young man and a great Buff today,” Colorado athletic director Rick George said after learning of the news. “We are heartbroken for Rashaan and his family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time.” Added the University football team on Twitter: “We’re minus one true Buffalo today.” Several former NFL players also paid tribute to Salaam on social media. “I will miss my Heisman brother Rashaan Salaam. He was always smiling and just a lot of fun to be around! #RIP,” wrote another former Heisman winner, Matt Leinart. Ex-NFL star Chad Brown added: “Beyond saddened to hear the news about my @cubuffs teammate and friend Rashaan Salaam. We lost a true Buffalo today.” Denver Broncos director of player personnel Matt Russell was a teammate of Salaam’s and offered the following statement to ESPN: Rashaan was as dynamic off the field as he was on the field as a player. He was a fiercely loyal friend, someone who was always in your corner and had your back. He was the ultimate teammate and supportive of everyone in his locker room. If there was ever a guy who was going to get a personal foul for protecting someone on his team, Rashaan was that guy. Back in April, Patton Oswalt’s wife, Michelle McNamara, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 46. Oswalt has openly mourned his wife in ways that have brought comfort to countless others who have experienced loss, and his latest message to fans is a candid and heartbreaking piece published by GQ that addresses the challenges Oswalt finds himself coping with as a newly single parent. Oswalt is father to a 7-year-old girl named Alice, and he admits in the piece that he often feels ill-equipped to handle the demands of raising a child on his own. “I was half of an amazing parenting team, except we weren’t equals,” the 47-year-old comic writes. “But we weren’t equals. Michelle was the point person, researcher, planner, and expediter. “I was the grunt, office assistant, instruction follower, and urban Sherpa.” Oswalt explains that while his wife was adept at using his “OCD to our little family’s advantage,” she was ultimately the planner, the organizer and the oil that made the machine of his family run smoothly. He writes that the pain of her loss is compounded by the difficulty of maintaining a stable home environment in the wake of a seismic tragedy: “I was looking forward to spending my life with the single most original mind I’d ever encountered. And now? Gone. All gone. “It feels like a walk-on character is being asked to carry an epic film after the star has been wiped from the screen.” “I can’t do it. I can’t do it. I can’t do it. I want to tune out the world and hide under the covers and never leave my house again and send our daughter, Alice, off to live with her cousins in Chicago, because they won’t screw her up the way I know I will. “Somebody help me! I can’t. I can’t. I can’t,” But it’s in those moments that Oswalt says he remembers he felt a similar fear when he first married McNamara, and again when he became a father. In the end, he concludes that the memory of his wife, and his love for his young daughter will be more than enough to sustain him through the many challenges that lie ahead: “I’m moving forward—clumsily, stupidly, blindly—because of the kind of person Alice is,” he writes. “She’s got so much of Michelle in her. And Michelle was living her life moving forward. And she took me forward with her. Just like I know Alice will.
