Stars Choose Sides: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Team Edward or Team Jacob? It’s no longer a question reserved for Twihards, or pop culture followers in general. Supreme Court Justice nominee Elena Kagan was actually asked which side she’s on during confirmation hearings this week. But forget future judges. On which end of this debate do Jersey Shore stars and country singers fall? A handful of celebrities were asked to pledge their allegiance to Edward or Jacob this week and replied with the following: Snooki : I’m Team Edward just because he’s very sexy, but then again, I’m Team Jacob because he has potential guido status. The Situation : I don’t think I’m on any team on that one because I like women. But on the other hand, I am fans of them both, I think they’re both great actors. Julianne Hough : I’m in love with Edward. Martina McBride : Well, Edward’s really cute, I think he’s very romantic, but I think probably Jacob is a healthier relationship. He seems to care. He’s not as obsessive. It’s a little more well-rounded. Brooklyn Decker : I’m Team Bella. I’m always rooting for her. I think she’s the atypical heroine, and a lot of people relate to that. Cheyenne Kimball : I’m totally Team Edward. I used to read the books when I was 17, and I wanted so badly to meet a vampire named Edward and fall in love. Rachel Reinart : I’m Team Vampire Diaries . I don’t watch Twilight. I have a huge crush on both of the dudes. They’re hot. Serena Williams : I’m obsessed with Robert Pattinson. Interesting. But enough from these celebs. Let’s hear from THG readers. Which team are YOU on?

‘Eclipse’ Moviegoers Get Pumped Up Outside NYC Midnight Screening

‘I’m going to see it again and again and again,’ one eager Twilighter tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Photo: Summit Only eight months have passed since “New Moon” hit theaters, but fans of “The Twilight Saga” have still waited anxiously for “Eclipse” to finally arrive. Thankfully, the waiting ends at midnight. “Eclipse” is officially here, bringing Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner back to the big screen once again. MTV News a New York movie theater to gauge fan excitement over the release of “Eclipse,” and unsurprisingly, the masses proved quite anxious for the movie’s first frames. “I’m really excited,” Hortencia Caires said. “I’ve read all of the series, all of the books, and I’ve watched all of the movies. I’m pretty darn stoked! I’m excited for Bella to finally make her choice. People portray Jacob as the guy she wants, but technically, I think she’s always wanted Edward. This is the right choice for her.” Indeed, the merit of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob was a hot-button issue among the many Twilighters we spoke with. “I’m Team Edward, duh!” Oladayo Idowu exclaimed proudly. “First, I was Jacob, and then I was Edward, because he’s best for [Bella].” “I’m on Team Jacob because he’s cute,” Cecilia Le said. “I don’t know. There are a lot of reasons!” Even fellow fans and friends Ellie Miltner and Amanda Lawrence couldn’t agree between Edward and Jacob. “I personally just like the vampire thing,” Amanda said, while Ellie declared: “I’m a werewolf kind of girl!” The two friends could agree on one thing: their most anticipated scene. “I’m most looking forward to the scene in the tent where Edward and Jacob are there together,” Ellie said, a notion Amanda agreed with. “They said it was really fun to film, so we’re excited about that, and he’s naked, so that’s the best part!” Other fans were excited to watch the highly touted action scenes, courtesy of acclaimed horror director David Slade. “I’m most excited for the scene where the vampires come out of the water and the big battle begins,” Stacey Harris said. Amanda Scully agreed with Stacey: “The scene where they fight at the end. It’s action-packed, and I like the action!” Even if fans had trouble agreeing on their favorite characters and scenes, they all shared the same infectious enthusiasm for the “Twilight” franchise. One fan even drove all the way to New York from Pennsylvania just to make sure her first viewing of “Eclipse” was extra special. “I live in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, and I wanted to come to an IMAX theater,” Erika Abad said. “I’ve never been to one.” “I’m really excited,” Oladayo said. “I’m here for [the midnight showing], so I’m surprised my mom even let me out! I’ve been waiting for this movie since I saw ‘Twilight.’ I’m going to see it again and again and again.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Kristen Stewart Says ‘The Love Triangle Is Real’ In ‘Eclipse’

‘It took a while for her to know herself well enough to make a decision,’ Stewart tells MTV News of Bella. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News We all know that Bella chooses Edward, but in “Eclipse,” Jacob has a shot for, like, a hot minute at maybe stealing the would-be vampire away from her true love. Kristen Stewart said that’s one of the things she loves about the film: Bella, now on the brink of making a major life decision, is finally empowered enough to feel like Jacob could be the guy for her. “I feel like she goes through so many traumatic events, and when she gets to the end of them, she feels a little bit more righteous than she did before,” she told MTV News. “A little bit more knowing and sort of like, ‘I’ve lived. Take my word for it. I know what I want.’ And nobody ever puts any stock in what she’s saying.” Instead, Stewart said, “Bella’s just sort of the dumb young girl who doesn’t know what it’s like to be a vampire, and it’s not about that for her. This whole vampire thing is going to be hard, but she’s a strong girl and she can make sacrifices. “What I like about ‘Eclipse’ is that … she really, actually looks at someone else, and it shatters her ideals,” Stewart added. So what does that mean for Bella, Edward and Jacob? “The love triangle is real,” Stewart said. “In [‘Eclipse’], she is just older and a little bit more [wise]. Now you really believe her. It took awhile for her to know herself well enough to make a decision.” We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24. ‘Eclipse’ Exclusive Scene Turns Up The Jacob/Edward Tension

Bella’s torn between two loves in the parking lot clip that premiered on the MTV Movie Awards. By Larry Carroll Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit It’s been said (rather crassly) that the plotline of “Eclipse” boils down to a young woman’s choice between bestiality and necrophilia. On June 30, “Twilight” fans all over the world will finally be able to feast their eyes on Bella’s struggle to reconcile her feelings for monstrous Jacob and undead Edward. Those watching tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, however, just received an exclusive sneak peek at her indecision — and now, the clip is here to appease your own ravenous, to-die-for appetite. “Charlie said you left town,” Jacob (Taylor Lautner) says, confronting Bella (Kristen Stewart) with Edward (Robert Pattinson) at her side in the Forks High parking lot. “Yeah,” responds Bella, who has her hoodie pulled up over her head. “To visit my mom. Why?” “He’s checking to see if you’re still human,” sneers a defensive Edward. Although lots of big news is bound to be made at the Movie Awards, few moments have garnered as much anticipation as this clip, one of the few full scenes to be released from David Slade’s “Eclipse.” The scene helps set up a plotline involving evil vampire Victoria and gives fans a glimpse of the shifting dynamic between the three leads. “Look, I’m here to warn you,” steams Jacob, clearly taking over the alpha-dog mentality and looking very little like the Jacob of the original “Twilight” film, whom Edward could easily have knocked on his heels. “If your kind come on our land again …” “You should leave,” Edward shoots back. “Now.” “She has a right to know,” responds Jacob, looking noticeably — um — wetter than you might expect. “She is the one the redhead wants.” “I was trying to protect you,” Edward says to Bella. “By lying to me!” she retorts, moments before hopping onto Jacob’s motorcycle and riding off. Fans will undoubtedly spend the next few days breaking the scene down as if they were a Cullen picking apart a deer’s bones. And one aspect that should promote conversation is KStew’s ability to hold the scene and steer it, despite being the physically smallest person in the frame. A lot has been written about Taylor’s increasingly formidable screen presence — but this brief clip reminds us once again why Kristen is the true heart and soul of these films. For good measure, our friends at Summit Entertainment have peppered the end of the scene with a quick montage of action-heavy shots from “Eclipse.” Although the majority have been seen previously in trailers, they never get old: Victoria under attack, newborns emerging from the water, Jackson Rathbone’s Jasper on the attack, Victoria in the tree and a few more clips worth freeze-framing. All in all, it’s enough to make fans look away from the Movie Awards just long enough to ask one simple question: Is it too early to vote for next year’s show? ‘Lost’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know Before The Finale

Haven’t been keeping up with the survivors of Oceanic 815? Catch up here. By Josh Wigler The cast of “Lost” Photo: ABC With its dense mythology and complicated character arcs, “Lost” doesn’t make it easy for the uninitiated to grasp the show’s high concepts, particularly this late in the game. But if you’re interested in catching the series finale on Sunday, even if you haven’t seen one episode, worry not — here’s everything you need to know about “Lost,” leading to the final hour. “Lost” opened with a simple premise: The passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 survive a horrific plane crash and find a new home on a mysterious tropical island. Things took a turn for the bizarre with the introduction of a polar bear, a wisp of black smoke known only as the monster, an 18th-century slave ship called the Black Rock and a secretive sect of island natives known as the Others, among other oddities. But “Lost” found its heart through the plane crash survivors: Jack, a heroic doctor with an obsessive need to fix everything; Kate, a fugitive with nowhere left to run; Sawyer, a conman hiding the heart of a hero; Hurley, an overweight multi-millionaire with an unlucky curse; Sayid, an Iraqi torturer looking to put the past behind him; Jin and Sun Kwon, a married couple with trust issues; Claire, a pregnant woman unsure about becoming a mother; and Locke, a paraplegic whose spine is healed by the island, leading him to believe that he and his fellow survivors were always meant to be here — an assertion that Jack initially rejects. Over the years, new characters joined the cast — Benjamin, the deceptive leader of the Others; Juliet, an Other who ultimately falls for Sawyer; Desmond, a romantic hero with a unique relationship to the space-time continuum; Daniel Farraday, a physicist who actually understands the space-time continuum; Miles, a mercenary who can communicate with the dead; and Richard Alpert, an ageless man who serves as the emissary to Jacob, the centuries-old all-powerful ruler of the island. It’s ultimately revealed that Jacob summoned our heroes to the island in order to find his eventual replacement as a leader: either Locke, Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid, Jack or one of the Kwons. But Jacob has a nemesis in the form of the smoke monster, a shape-shifting entity that can impersonate dead bodies. Jacob, who just so happens to be the monster’s brother, has imprisoned him on the island, and it appears that he can’t leave until Jacob and the candidates are all dead. Getting to the candidates isn’t easy, as a group of survivors (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Claire’s baby, Aaron) managed to leave the island, while the remaining castaways were thrust backwards in time to the days of the DHARMA Initiative, a group of ’70s-era scientists researching the island’s secrets. Locke too left the island to convince Jack and the others to return, but he was unsuccessful and subsequently murdered by an escaped Ben. Ben used Locke’s death to galvanize a broken and suddenly faith-driven Jack into bringing his friends (and Locke’s corpse) back to the island. Some of the survivors traveled back to the DHARMA days as a result, while Ben and Locke’s body landed in present day. There, the monster assumed Locke’s identity and fooled a shell-shocked Ben into killing Jacob. With Jacob dead and one candidate down, the monster’s plan was in full effect. Meanwhile, Jack believed he found his purpose on the island: to detonate a nuclear bomb, as blowing up the island in 1977 would prevent Oceanic 815 from crashing in 2004. The plan backfired, killing Juliet — Sawyer’s girlfriend at the time — and returning the survivors to the present day island. But it appears that the bomb’s detonation worked to a degree by fracturing the space-time continuum and creating a sideways universe where Oceanic 815 landed safely in Los Angeles. In this world, near-death experiences and true love have unlocked certain characters’ memories of life on the island. At the moment, a self-aware Desmond is guiding characters in both universes towards an unknown goal. With the candidates back in the present, the monster (in Locke’s form) tried to convince them all to leave the island with him. After multiple failed attempts, he successfully lured Jack and the others into a submarine and planted a bomb in Jack’s backpack. Sayid sacrificed his life trying to take the brunt of the explosion, but Jin and Sun (and probably pilot Frank Lapidus, who was knocked out by the explosion) drowned in the sinking sub as the rest escaped. Now, it’s up to Jack and his surviving allies to defeat the monster and prevent further catastrophe. But questions remain — what happens if the monster leaves? Who will replace Jacob as the island’s leader? What is the significance of the sideways universe? With only three and a half hours remaining before the final curtain call, not even the most devout of fans can predict how “Lost” will end. Head over to the MTV Movies Blog to vote for the “Lost” Awards from now through the finale. Related Photos Spin-Offs For The Characters Of ‘Lost’
