In the show, Hurley – played by Jorge Garcia – won $114 million in a lottery with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42. Tuesday#39;s Mega Millions numbers were 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42, with 42 being the Mega Ball number. Anyone who played those four of Hurley#39;s numbers won about $150. In an eerie echo of the numbers that haunted Lost character Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, four of the six numbers drawn in the $355 million Mega Millions lottery Tuesday night matched those of the likable islander, who

Emmys Pay Homage To ‘Glee’ In Opening Number

Host Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Betty White and more join ‘Glee’ castmembers in song-and-dance routine to kick off awards show. By Jocelyn Vena Jane Lynch, Tina Fey, Joel McHale, Jimmy Fallon, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Jorge Garcia, and Nina Dobrev perform onstage at the 2010 Emmy Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images The Emmy Awards kicked off on Sunday night (August 29) with a song-and-dance number inspired by the night’s breakout star: “Glee.” Having already nabbed a number of the ceremony’s nominations (and taking some of its early awards), the popular Fox seemed more than worthy of the props, as host Jimmy Fallon led a performance that included several “Glee” castmembers. The set-up: the cast of “Glee” wants to go to the awards show in Los Angeles, but they just can’t afford the pricey tickets. So, Fallon comes up with the perfect idea. The Gleeks should do what they do best — win a singing competition in order to earn the funds. With the help of some of TV’s biggest stars, including reality TV-mom Kate Gosselin, Betty White, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Nina Dobrev, Joel McHale and, of course, Fallon, the “Glee” crew got their song on with a stirring rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s classic “Born to Run.” Displaying the musical prowess that has made the series a viewer fave, the “Glee” gang — represented by Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Lea Michele and Jane Lynch — took their act (and their TV co-stars) through a number of gags. Catching White and Don Draper hanging out in a dressing room (where the comedian urged Hamm, “C’mon, do the hippety-hop. Now back that mother up,” as she taught him some dance moves) and meeting up with Hurley himself, Jorge Garcia, on an escalator, were a few of the highlights. But those moments were only a precursor to the live, onstage dance number with Fallon in full-on Springsteen mode. Down to his white T-shirt, jeans, and red bandana, the host finished the crescendo of “Born to Run,” with some guitar assistance from “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson. And with that, Fallon’s idea proved to be a good one: The “Glee” castmembers had made it to the big show. What did you think of the Emmy Awards opening number? Tell us in the comments!

Fantasia Overdose Draws Sympathy, Criticism From Fans

Reactions to the ‘American Idol’ champ’s apparent suicide attempt are mixed. By Mawuse Ziegbe Fantasia Photo: Bennett Raglin/WireImage Fantasia Barrino’s apparent attempt to take her own life has sparked a range of reactions from the “American Idol” winner’s fans. On Monday, Barrino suffered a drug overdose after ingesting a mix of aspirin and a sleep aid. The singer was taken to a North Carolina hospital, and a police report listed Barrino’s condition as a “suicide/overdose.” In the wake of the singer’s recent troubles, fans have been divided over Barrino’s alleged suicide attempt. “This is so sad and reminds me of the people who win the lottery but their life falls apart afterwards,” Burker wrote on the “American Idol” fan website Rickey.org. “So many highs and lows in Tasia’s life. I’m rooting for ya babe!” Bfashion58 also expressed support for the troubled “Idol” champ. “My prayers are with Fantasia and her family,” the poster wrote. “What don’t break you will only make you stronger.” “Hope you’ll get better soon Fantasia!! I miss you!!” Chuckgirl2008 wrote on MTV.com. “UR n my prayers Tasia, keep ur head up!!!” Reginald Ready said. Many fans have sent Barrino well-wishes, but the singer has also been the subject of much viral vitriol. Numerous online commenters have blasted Barrino’s suicide attempt as a “selfish” move that would have left her daughter without a mom. “I’m sorry, but trying to commit suicide when you are a mother is probably the most selfish thing a person can do,” Max wrote on the Clutch magazine website. “I do not feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for her daughter.” “I’m sorry but I can not feel bad for Fantasia,” an anonymous poster declared on TheYBF.com. “The thought of her taking her life and leaving her DAUGHTER parent-less over some man is very selfish to [me].” Several fans have referenced Barrino’s reported relationship with a married man as the cause of her alleged suicide attempt. The singer was named in court documents filed last week by Paula Cook, the wife of Barrino’s supposed boyfriend Antwaun, charging that the two started a “covert adulterous affair” last August. The documents also allege that the duo filmed a sex tape, which precipitated the collapse of the marriage. “I find it hard to feel bad for her bc I believe she knew what she was doing,” another TheYBF anonymous poster wrote. “Not to sound heartless, but even if she didn’t know he was married [I’m] sure she found out along the way.” “As a married woman, it is tough to feel sorry for women like this,” Clutch Mag Online poster Maria wrote. “As a celebrity she needs to think twice before doing anything that could ruin her career. Plus why go after a married man when there are so many single men out there to choose from?” “Fantasia is a sorry excuse for a [woman],” another anonymous poster typed on TheYBF. “She got caught and now she’s trying to dig her way out and I have no remorse for her.” Barrino’s drug overdose was just the latest incident in a life that has been marked by incredible highs and devastating lows. The singer overcame sexual abuse, teen pregnancy and illiteracy to take the “American Idol” crown in 2004. Barrino went on to release the platinum debut Free Yourself and starred in Broadway’s “The Color Purple.” However, the star reportedly skipped more than 50 “Color Purple” performances, and one of Barrino’s homes went into foreclosure in 2008. Yet, in 2010, Barrino appeared to be enjoying a return to the spotlight with the hit VH1 show “Fantasia for Real.” She also recently dropped the single “Bittersweet.” Fantasia fans remain split over her recent issues, however. Some commenters, such as Itgirlstyle, insist that the public should have sympathy despite Barrino’s celebrity. “Nobody is perfect, and we have all have made mistakes/choices we aren’t proud of. The difference is, when celebrities make mistakes, it’s broadcast to the world and all of a sudden everybody is perfect and feel they have the right to judge and condemn,” the commenter wrote on Clutch. “Hold your head up, Tasia.” Share your well-wishes for Fantasia and her family in the comments below. What Does ‘Lost’ ‘s Hurley Think Of Weezer’s Hurley? We Asked Him!

‘It’s extremely special … that this is actually happening,’ Jorge Garcia says of being face and inspiration for band’s new album. By James Montgomery The cover of Weezer’s Hurley Photo: Epitaph Most folks probably know Jorge Garcia as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, the loveably scruffy character he portrayed for six seasons on “Lost.” But earlier this week, Garcia’s name was thrust back into the spotlight again when it was revealed that he was the cover star of — and apparent inspiration for — Weezer’s upcoming Hurley album . But according to Garcia, none of this should really come as a surprise. After all, he’s been a music-industry vet for years now. “I used to work at this store called Music Plus in San Clemente, California, when I was growing up, and then they became Blockbuster Music, and, like, you had to get a haircut to work there, and at the time I had some pretty long hair. So after that policy was imposed, I knew that was going to be my last summer working there,” Garcia told MTV News on Wednesday (August 11). “And then a little later, I worked in the music department of Borders, selling CDs there. So I remember the boxes of CDs coming … and I remember in the morning, setting up the ‘new release’ endcaps and having to put a bunch of copies on there and making sure they were properly stickered and all that.” And although you’d think that kind of retail experience would’ve made him a natural to grace an album cover one day, Weezer were actually the first band to come calling. And, yes, Garcia finds the entire thing just as weird as you do. “I went to do the George Lopez show [‘Lopez Tonight’], and I think they were doing two or three shows that night, and [Weezer frontman] Rivers [Cuomo] was a guest in the previous show. So they came and knocked on my door and said, ‘Hi,’ and wanted to get a picture with me, and I thought that was awesome. We chatted briefly, and that was it,” he said. “And I didn’t hear until a couple months later that they wanted to put me on the cover … I didn’t realize it was just going to be that same picture we took together, cropped down to my face. When I look at the picture, I notice that there’s something going on with my hair, like it’s starting to come loose or something. But I’m happy with it.” Garcia, who cites Bon Iver, M. Ward and the New Pornographers as some of his favorite acts, said he’s always been a casual fan of the Weezer (“I don’t recognize Maladroit so much,” he laughed) and added that being featured on the cover of Hurley is one of the biggest honors he’s received in his career. “This is really close to the top, for sure,” he said. “I think the [‘Lost’] action figure still kind of trumps it, but just coming from where I come from, it’s extremely special and dear to my heart that this is actually happening.” While Garcia will make an appearance in stores on August 24 when the sixth season of “Lost” is released on DVD, he’s really looking forward to September 14, when Hurley is due. Though, given his previous retail experience, he’s already dreading what might happen. “Sometimes when we were pricing CDs, we’d just put the stickers all over the place, until we got the instructions we had to put them in a certain place,” he said. “So I’m sure there will be some people that take advantage of having such an easy target to do whatever sticker graffiti they want to.” What do you think of Weezer paying tribute to Jorge’s “Lost” character? Matthew Morrison’s Hair Gets a Stay of Execution

Remember that rumor that Matthew Morrison might shave his head for Glee’s Britney Spears episode? Well, shame on you, because the mere fact that you knew about it means that now it won’t happen. “I guess they’re deciding not to do it now because it was kind of supposed to be like the surprise, you know,” costar Heather Morris told Access Hollywood . “Then [executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] got wind that everybody found out and he was like, ‘I don’t think we can do it anymore because now it’s out.'” [ Access Hollywood ]

Celebrity Apprentice Finale: Winner Bret Michaels’ 5 Most Unprofessional Moments

Color me shocked , boys and girls. What’s the secret to becoming Donald Trump’s trusted, uber-professional apprentice? Simple: Be the most (lovably) unprofessional contestant in Celebrity Apprentice history. Tah-dah! After the show’s giant finale and parade of arbitrary judging, Trump gave Bret Michaels the Celebrity Apprentice victory over runner-up Holly Robinson Peete for one ostensible reason: He was brave to attend the live finale just days after another staggering health setback . Look, I admire the hell out of Bret Michaels for going through with the taping, but does that mean he should’ve beaten Holly? After her record-high fund-raising and strong leadership? No way. However, I happen to love Bret Michaels, so let’s toast Trump’s newest yes-man with a retrospective of his most unprofessional Celebrity Apprentice moments.

Three Alternate Lost Endings Not Actually Real, Only Slightly Funny

With the way ABC had been publicizing the three alternate endings of Lost that were airing during Jimmy Kimmel’s special post-finale celebration, you would have been right to assume they were legit. Or, as legit as those alternate season three endings with Sawyer and Desmond in Locke’s coffin were — a red herring to throw off the scent of any leak-happy crew member. Alas, it was all just one final long con. The “alternate endings” — featuring the now-radio silenced duo of Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse — were nothing more than jokes. And not even particularly good ones: Did Kimmel really trot out Bob Newhart for a spoof on the Newhart ending? And Jeff Probst for a Survivor ending? Get worse. Still, anything that puts Jorge Garcia’s Hurley in the Tony Soprano booth at a diner deserves the attention of your eyeballs. Watch the “endings” after the jump.

‘Lost’ Cast Says Goodbye On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Show features comic alternate endings starring Naveen Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Evangeline Lilly. By Josh Wigler After “Lost” took its final bow during a special two-and-a-half-hour series finale event on Sunday night, several “cast and crew members appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to commemorate the show’s legacy, discuss some of the events that transpired during the episode and debut three alternate endings. Kimmel’s first guest was Matthew Fox, the 43-year-old actor responsible for playing noble spinal surgeon Jack Shephard. Fox reaffirmed that he’s long known that the final image of “Lost” would involve a dying Jack’s eye closing, just as his eye’s opening was the show’s first image. Despite his pride over working on the series, Fox admitted: “It’s hard to watch for me. Some time down the road, I suppose I’ll watch it all the way through. … [But] it’s been an incredible, incredible experience playing this guy.” Fox was soon joined by Terry O’Quinn (Locke) and Michael Emerson (Ben) . Kimmel jokingly asked O’Quinn if this was the “good Terry” or the “bad Terry,” referring to O’Quinn’s season-six portrayal of the villainous Smoke Monster in Locke’s body. “This is the out-of-work Terry,” the actor quipped. O’Quinn said he first understood the power of “Lost” upon watching “Walkabout,” the season one episode that revealed Locke was a paraplegic before the crash. Emerson said that his favorite scenes centered on Ben’s use of food as a prop. For Fox, his first scene with Evangeline Lilly (Kate) where she stitches his back was “a tough scene to do” but still a highlight. Other actors eventually graced the stage. Naveen Andrews (Sayid) admitted that he didn’t regularly watch “Lost,” while Emilie de Ravin (Claire) revealed that she didn’t tune in to the series during her season five absence. Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) laughingly acknowledged that his character had bad luck with boats, nearly blowing up twice and ultimately drowning in a sunken submarine. At the end of the hour, Kimmel debuted three comedic alternate endings crafted by executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. The first ending centers on Sayid as he tells a gathered campfire circle the story of how he blew up on the submarine. Moments later, “Survivor” host Jeff Probst steps out of the jungle and informs Sayid that he’s been voted out of the tribe. A furious Sayid rants to the camera that he didn’t go through the entire series only to be eliminated by “Jeff f—ing Probst!” The second alternate ending riffed on the famous ending of “The Sopranos,” with Jorge Garcia (Hurley) occupying the Tony Soprano role. He sits at a table with Fox and de Ravin and begins to tell them that he thinks he “knows the secrets to the Islan —” before the screen cuts to black. The final alternate ending evoked the classic conclusion to “Newhart,” complete with Bob Newhart waking up from a dream only to find himself in bed next to Evangeline Lilly. Kimmel closed out the hour on a serious note, thanking the cast and crew of “Lost” for contributing to one of the single most memorable television events of the decade.
