We Need To Talk About John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John’s New Christmas Video (With Lyrics)

Hark! Christmas came early today, and in the form of a song delivered from on high by former Grease buddies and rockin’ Xmas angels John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John . In the video for the first holiday jam from their new joint album This Christmas , Travolta and O N-J hug and line-dance and drink hot cocoa while crying during It’s A Wonderful Life , which is an actual line in the song and OH MY GOD I can’t look away so just watch it now. (I took the liberty of transcribing the lyrics below. You’re welcome.) “I Think You Might Like It,” the only original tune on the duo’s new yuletide album, was penned by songwriter/Newton-John producer John Farrar , who wrote the chart-topping Grease duet “You’re The One That I Want,” along with the underappreciated power-pining ballad “Hopelessly Devoted To You” and Newton-John’s Xanadu jam “Magic.” In other words, Farrar is a proven musical maestro and it’s only a matter of time before “I Think You Might Like It” cheeses its way into your stone-cold hearts. Promoting the album on Ellen , Travolta revealed another tidbit about his personal relationship with Christmas: He really loves hot cocoa. “It represents winter wonderlands, it represents Christmas,” he said, which explains why he COLLECTS HOT COCOA POWDER FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES . “I’ve collected various types of cocoa from around the world,” he said, offering up a sniff of Brazilian cocoa powder to demonstrate the “hint of cinnamon and pepper” that differentiates it from cocoa from Germany, Australia and so on. (Travolta will donate his artist proceeds to the Jett Travolta Foundation, named after his late son, while Newton-John’s portion will go to her own Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre , so I’ll allow him this not strange at all hot cocoa fixation.) Now, the video. Prepare yourself for three glorious minutes of, in order: – John Travolta flying his airplane home to Newton-John, because he’s a pilot – John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John toe-tapping in unison with their thumbs in their belt loops – A John Travolta soul patch. A JOHN TRAVOLTA SOUL PATCH! – Olivia Newton-John “driving” with “Christmas presents” propped oh-so-naturally in the passenger seat – More line-dancing – THIS: – John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John singin’ about “makin’ love all night” and cryin’ while his actual IRL wife Kelly Preston walks into what looks like the lobby of an Alamo Rent-a-Car with a baby on her hip and whoa , DEEP THOUGHT: Is this song really about polygamy? Is the “it” in question that she might like his “special” holiday package, WINK WINK?? Discuss . – Troops coming home from deployment for the holidays, because of course – More line-dancing – The saddest happy pity hug of all time Everybody now! Sing along all month-long! Your friends and family and everyone within earshot will love you for it, trust me. **Some lyrics are incomplete because I couldn’t make them out through JT & ON-J’s cheer-tastic warbling. So help a sister out in the comments. “I Think You Might Like It” Here comes my hometown So good to get my wheels down I’m comin’ home toni-i-i-ight Here comes that magical smell of Christmas Eve There’s nothin’ you can do-oo But wearing your heart on your sleeve My mind is go-in’ A little crazy knowin’ You’re comin’ home toni-i-i-ight I can’t help smilin’ to strangers on my street I’m singing to myself, tripping over my own feet I’m comin’ ho-ome CHORUS: I’ve got a little plan for you, I think you might like it Let’s do the little dance we do, I think you might like it The we’re gonna hide away, makin’ love all night We can cry tomorrow watching It’s a Wonderful Life ( Line-dancing interlude ) Ooooo-ooo-oooh, I think you might like it Oh baby I kinda like So many gonna (unintelligible) You’re comin’ home toni-i-i-ight Your mama sings sweetly, “Do You Hear What I Hear?” But in a little while she’ll be swinging from a chandelier No stopping Aunt Louise Ticklin’ the ivories I’m comin’ home toni-i-i-ight Whole town’s gonna be there It will be a squeeze You’d better put your sleigh in a holdin’ pattern, Santa please I’m comin’ ho-ome CHORUS: I’ve got a little plan for you, I think you might like it Let’s do the little dance we do, I think you might like it Then we’re gonna hide away, makin’ love all night We can cry tomorrow watching It’s A Wonderful Life I’ve got a little plan for you ( I like it ) Let’s do the little dance we do ( I like it ) Then we’re gonna hide away, making love all night Unison: And we can cry tomorrow watching It’s a Wonderful Life Let’s do the little dance we do I think you mi-ight like it (Spoken): I like it MERRY CHRISTMAS, WORLD! Jackman, Hathaway & Co-Stars Are Masters Of The House At London ‘Les Misérables’ Premiere

Fans stormed London’s Leicester Square to join the revolution on Wednesday night: the world premiere of   Les Misérables . The barricades were up, not to hold back National Guardsmen but to restrain fans who who turned up to salute the movie’s lead  Hugh Jackman , Londoner (and the movie’s Marius), Eddie Redmayne  and the rest of the main cast.  Lovely Ladies Anne Hathaway , Amanda Seyfried and   Samantha Barks ,who has played Eponine both on stage and, now, on screen, were all smiles as they stalked the red carpet, the dark days of their Parisian revolt a distant dream. Master of the House, director Tom Hooper , accompanied comrade and legendary theater producer Sir Cameron MacKintoshto the premiere, as well as Russell Crowe , who portrays the saga’s relentless Inspector Javert. The cast confirmed that the movie’s multi-camera, live-recorded singing made filming more laborious than usual, at times resulting in dozens of takes. Some malfunctioning mechanical butterflies didn’t help either. Redmayne said that while he and Amanda Seyfried were filming their “A Heart Full of Love” duet, “Tom became obsessed with the stunt butterflies. There were moments where Amanda and I would do these incredibly intense takes of newfound love, and Tom would say, ‘Yeah, it was great, but the butterflies…'” Barks recalled enduring many sodden takes of singing ” On My Own ” in the rain. “There was a big rain machine which followed me around for a lot of the film. Sometimes I’d arrive on set and they’d have to hose me down,” she recalled. “After the rain, you get so cold, your teeth start to chatter and they say, ‘We’re picking up on a weird sound, what’s that?’ So I’d chatter, ‘It’s my teeth!’” When Hooper wasn’t preoccupied with the butterflies, he devoted plenty of attention to the rain machine, presumably from his eternally dry director’s chair, “The geek in me enjoyed having to come up with the solution of how to do silent rain” so it wouldn’t interfere with the live singing,  the director explained, adding: “By the end the rain was quiet.”  Hooper said it took “six months of researching to do rain with with no noise” and after finally achieving “our dream,” as he put it, “we had to put the rain sound back in during the sound mixing.” After their near-freezing stint on the red carpet, all guests stepped inside the warm sanctuary of the Leicester Square Odeon for the movie, after which Hooper invited everybody to drink with him in North London, at Camden’s Roundhouse until late. Steven Spielberg Hoped To Direct James Bond – But Got A ‘No’

It’s hard to imagine Steven Spielberg getting a ‘No,’ but that’s just what happened back in the day when he went sniffing around taking on James Bond . But this was back in the late ’70s and he had yet to make some of his biggest pics. The lure of 007 prompted the Jaws director to ask Bond producers if he could direct an installment. “I went to Cubby Broccoli and I asked if I could do one and he said: ‘No,'” Spielberg told the U.K.’s Daily Mail . But, as legions of audiences know, Spielberg didn’t let the disappointment keep him from bigger and better things. He took on some franchises of his own and is of course in line for an Oscar nomination or two for his latest feature. “I never asked again,” he recalled. “Instead, I made the Indiana Jones series.” Still, he’s a 007 fan and heaped praise on the latest Bond, giving kudos to Sam Mendes’ Skyfall , which has cumed over $790 million worldwide since it first hit release in late October, followed by early November in the U.S. The Oscar-winning director said he will likely even see the latest one starring Daniel Craig as the British operative “again.” Since its initial limited release November 9th, Spielberg’s Lincoln has grossed over $62 million. Over the holiday weekend it played just over 2,000 theaters, grossing over $25 million. The film continues to generate Oscar buzz for the director and its star Daniel Day-Lewis. Anne Hathaway Buzzes About Her Short Hair In Oscar-Buzzed ‘Les Misérables’

The film version of Les Misérables is building momentum ahead of its Christmas roll-out in the States, and much has been made about Anne Hathaway ‘s very slimmed down look. She even made fun of her much shorter hair style, likening her new ‘look’ to resembling her brother. “When I eventually looked in the mirror, I just thought I looked like my gay brother,” Hathaway told a New York audience at a Friday evening screening as reported by THR. Hathaway, who plays the tragic Fantine in the film, directed by Oscar-winning The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper, said her mother had also once played the part in a Philadelphia production when she was seven years-old. Hathaway said in the December issue of Vogue that she lost 25 pounds to play the part, dropping the final 15 pounds by eating just two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste per day just ahead of the shoot. “I had to be obsessive about it. The idea was to look near death,” she told Vogue. “Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.” In related Les Misérables news, Hugh Jackman, who plays Jean Valjean in the musical told The Daily Mail that the film will transform the musical on-screen experience for audiences. “We sing as we act, rather than lay down songs weeks in advance,” Jackman said. “It makes it much more realistic particularly with a gritty story like this.” Also starring Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen, the film is an adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel set in 19th century France. New ‘Les Miserables’ Trailer: Will Jackman, Crowe, Hathaway Sing Their Way To Oscar?

I’ll admit I was a bit iffy on this whole live singing concept in Tom Hooper’s epic Les Miserables film adaptation… until now. The new international trailer swells with emotion as everyone from Hugh Jackman to Anne Hathaway to Amanda Seyfried , Russell Crowe , and Eddie Redmayne warble Claude-Michel Schönberg’s iconic tunes like their Oscar hopes depended on it. Which they do. Hathaway’s got the showy role in Fantine, whose “I Dreamed A Dream” was one of the first bits to leak onto the internet months back. Thank goodness for the new trailer, which shows that the rest of the ensemble is bringing their singing game to the streets of 19th century France, too. We’ve got Jackman as Valjean, Crowe as Javert, Seyfried as Cosette, all of whom have been known to flex their vocal chords from time to time. Redmayne, who starred most recently in My Week With Marilyn and plays Marius, has yet to show off his pipes but apparently was a chorister at Eton College – not too shabby. Then there’s Samantha Barks as Eponine, who’ll probably blow everyone else in the cast away seeing as she’s an actual West End star. (Remember when we thought Taylor Swift had the role in the bag? Oh, Internet .) In any case, hope! Optimism! I know Les Mis is already going to steal all the Christmas movie-going dollars, but now I’m more convinced it’ll be a repeat-view Oscar contender and not just a must-see for Broadway nuts. Color me a believer. Read more on Les Miserables . Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

You Think Scary Movie 5 Is Supposed To Be A Comedy? Check Out This Grisly Photo Of Sheen And Lohan

There will be Tiger Blood! Dimension Films has released the first official still from Scary Movie 5   and — yikes! — it has me cowering behind my fingers. I can’t stop thinking about the hell spawn that would be unleashed on this world if Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan actually hooked up and she got pregnant. The image also makes me think that if this movie does successfully re-boot the franchise and leads to a Scary Movie 6 , the producers will attempt to top themselves by reuniting Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries in a sex scene. Or maybe Humphries can don the white mask and dispatch Kanye West while he’s canoodling with Kim. (Unnh, I just threw up in my mouth.) The movie, which is due out in 2013,  also stars Ashley Tisdale ,  Heather Locklear and, the reason I’m going to see it:  the very funny Craig Bierko . Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. WATCH: Jackman, Hathaway And Seyfried Sing In Extended Making Of Les Miserables Clip

Do you hear the people sing? Actually, they’re not just people, they’re ac-tors ! I’m talking Hugh Jackman , Anne Hathaway , Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne , the cast of Oscar winner Tom Hooper ‘s poverty-never-looked-so-expensive film adaptation of Les Miserables . Each can be heard performing in this extended clip about Hooper’s novel approach to making of the movie musical that’s based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel about French politics and revolution. Russell Crowe , who plays Inspector Javert and once sang for the much-mocked band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, is also in the clip, although he doesn’t show off his pipes. As Jackman, Redmayne, Hooper and others explain in the video, the songs for musical films are usually recorded before filming starts, a potentially antiseptic process that doesn’t take into account the emotional give-and-take that occurs when actors face off in a scene or tweak their performances from take to take.  Instead of pre-recording the songs for Les Miz , Hooper had his actors perform their songs live in each scene while listening to a pianist whose also-live accompaniment was piped through the actors’ earpieces.  (The tinkling of the ivories will be replaced by a full orchestra when the finished film debuts on Christmas Day.  The process  allowed the actors  “the spontaneity of normal film acting,” explains Jackman in the clip, which appears below. Make sure to watch Hathaway’s heart-wrenching singing as the dying prostitute Fantine.  Powerful stuff, and when you factor in her much-different but no less compelling performance as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises  this past summer, it looks like this is going to be a big year for the dark-haired beauty. Les Miserables: First Images of Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, and More

Universal has yet to release an official trailer for Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables , but USA Today has a first look at images of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, and Co. in character. Visually, the musical film looks beautiful, but the jury’s out on how it sounds until we get more of an official listen. Take a peek at the Les Mis cast in the muted hues of 19th century France and chime in after the jump. Below, take a gander at Samantha Barks as Eponine, the role that the rumor mill had us thinking would go to Taylor Swift. Everyone else looks period-handsome, but Hathaway is striking, rocking Fantine’s shorn look while seemingly channeling Maria Falconetti’s Joan of Arc. Find more pics over at USA Today .

And You Thought The Candy Land Movie Couldn’t Get Any Better…

… and by better I mean worse, and by worse I mean now that the licensing deal between Universal and toy company Hasbro has ended, Sony has snatched up the Candy Land board game movie project — you know, the one like ” Lord of The Rings , but set in a world of candy” — as a vehicle for none other than Adam Sandler . Said Columbia prez Doug Belgrad: ” Candy Land is more than just a game. It is a brand that children, parents and grandparents know and love. The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam. We are thrilled to partner with Hasbro and Happy Madison on this project.” [ THR ]
