Kyler Is King: Trump Applauds Kaep Critic Nick Bosa On Being 2nd NFL Draft Pick But Ignores Top Pick Murray

Source: Brooks Kraft / Getty In today’s edition of “the President is trippin’”, Donald Trump went out of his way to congratulate the NFL Draft’s number two pick Nick Bosa without even acknowledging number one pick, Heisman Trophy winning Black man Kyler Murray . In true Trump form, he took to Twitter to be willfully shady, writing: Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being picked number two in the NFL Draft. You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent! San Francisco will embrace you but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 27, 2019 The petty tweet caused an uproar on social media with folks pointing out that Murray — who also made history as the only player ever to be drafted in the first round of the NFL and MLB — should be congratulated as well. You do realize that another player went #1 overall in the draft, right ahead of Bosa, right? His name is Kyler Murray pic.twitter.com/xiOkXTMm3Y — Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) April 27, 2019 Wow.. it’s been a minute since we had a president.. anyway… Congratulations to Kyler Murray on being picked number ONE in the NFL Draft. You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent! Arizona will embrace you. — Wale (@Wale) April 27, 2019 Even Time magazine called the President out on his pettiness. Kyler Murray, a black man, was the number one NFL draft pick. Trump congratulated the number two pick instead https://t.co/CwxCeVERkj — TIME (@TIME) April 27, 2019 Just to refresh your memory, Nick Bosa is the same guy that called Colin Kaepernick a “clown”  for kneeling during the National Anthem. TBH, do we expect anything more from Trump? Nah. But congrats to Kyler Murray for making history!

Long Live Nip: President Barack Obama Pens A Prolific Piece Dedicated To Nipsey Hussle

Source: Press/Splash News/ SplasheNews.com / Splash News President Obama Writes Tribute Letter To Nipsey Hussle Neighborhood Nip just got remembered in an epic way. A letter from President Barack Obama was read by Karen Civil at Nipsey Hussle’s funeral. In it, the President said while he’d never met Nipsey he was familiar with him because of Sasha and Malia. He also praised the late rapper for investing in his Crenshaw neighborhood and leaving a legacy. “I’d never met Nipsey Hussle, but I’d heard some of his music through my daughters, and after his passing, I had the chance to learn more about his transformation and his community work,” Obama begins in the letter. “While most folks look at the Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and see only gangs, bullets, and despair, Nipsey saw potential,” he continued. “He saw hope. He saw a community that, even through its flaws, taught him to always keep going.” “His choice to invest in that community rather than ignore it — to build a skills training center, and a co-working space in Crenshaw; to lift up the Eritrean-American community; to set an example for young people to follow — is a legacy worthy of celebration,” Obama wrote. “I hope his memory inspires more good work in Crenshaw and communities like it,” he added. Albert Finney Dies; Legendary Actor Was 82

Sad news out of Hollywood today, as legendary actor Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. Finney’s family confirmed reports of his passing in a statement to the Associated Press Friday morning. “The family request privacy at this sad time,” read a brief statement. Few details were provided about the cause of Finney’s death, but the family indicated that he passed following “a short illness.” Finney fought kidney cancer in 2011, but it is not known if that illness played a role in his death. Amassing more than 60 credits over the course of his five decades in Hollywood, Finney’s resumé reads like a diverse list of some of the most beloved films of the past 50 years. Whether your tastes run toward action films ( Skyfall , the Bourne franchise), musicals ( Annie, Scrooge ), acclaimed dramas ( Erin Brockovich, Under the Volcano ), or thought-provoking indie fare ( Big Fish, Miller’s Crossing, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead ), Finney not only dabbled in your genre of choice, he helped define it. After rising to fame with his titular role in Tom Jones in 1963, Finney quickly gained a reputation as an actor’s actor. His love of the craft led Finney to continue working on Broadway even after finding success in Hollywood. He eventually earned two Tony nominations to go along with his staggering 5 Oscar nods. Finney also gained widespread acclaim and numerous nominations for his work as Winston Churchill in the 2002 television movie The Gathering Storm . Finney’s thoughtful insights on acting are often quoted by both veteran instructors and up-and-comers in search of inspiration. “I don’t think that we necessarily lie. I mean, we make our living by pretending that we’re someone else. I don’t tell tall tales. I always tell the truth,” he once remarked. “To be a character who feels a deep emotion, one must go into the memory’s vault and mix in a sad memory from one’s own life.” The actor turned down an offer of knighthood in 2000, arguing that the UK’s honors system serves to “perpetuate snobbery.” Finney was married three times, including his tempestuous 8-year romance with actress Anouk Aimée He is survived by his son, Simon, and his widow, Pene Delmage. Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

British Soccer Player Blames Fan Abuse On Media Racial Bias That’s Also Found In The US

A Black British soccer player ignored the racist abuse yelled at him from a fan but commented on how it was fueled by the racial bias of some media outlets, which is also seen in the United States. SEE ALSO: Texas Official Defends Racist Stereotype: ‘You Can’t Count On A Black Quarterback’ England and Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling said Sunday that irresponsible media outlets to “fuel racism” through their portrayal of young Black soccer players, the Guardian reported. His remarks appeared on social media after the police launched an investigation into a fan of the opposing team who was recorded on video at Saturday’s match allegedly yelling a racial slur at Sterling. It happened in the first half of a match against Chelsea when Sterling went to pick up the ball in front of the stands. “…For all the newspapers that don’t understand why people are racists in this day and age, all I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity and give all players an equal chance,” Sterling wrote on Instagram . BT are apparently investigating the footage of Sterling being racially abused. 1st time I saw this pic i thought Sterling was laughing in their faces whilst they shouted. I hope that’s what he did. Look how angry they are. No place for this venom in football #MCFC #Sterling pic.twitter.com/WVs5oo7yOb — Paul McGarraghy (@PaulMcGarraghy) December 8, 2018 In his media post, Sterling gave the example of a young Black player who was criticized in a newspaper article for “splashing” his salary on a mansion before he even played his first professional match. Sterling said the rookie buying a house for his mother was the right thing to do, but Sterling also noted that the paper failed to criticize a young white player who did the same thing. “This young Black kid is looked at in a bad light,” Sterling stated. A University of Missouri researcher in 2015 reported similar media racial bias in the United States on how athletes are covered. Stories on African-American athletes focus primarily on criminal actions while stories about white athletes are overwhelmingly positive. Among the findings, more than 66 percent of the crime stories involved Black athletes while only 22 percent involved white athletes. More than 70 percent of domestic violence stories involved Black athletes and only 17 percent involved white athletes. “True cultural sensitivity requires the eradication of racial and ethnic stereotyping; thus, journalists and reporters must reflect on how their own unfounded beliefs about race differences in sports likely contribute to the stereotyping of black athletes as engaged in more criminal activity and innately physically gifted yet lacking in intelligence and strong work ethics,” the researcher Cynthia Frisby said. By Sunday morning, the authorities had not arrested the fan. “We are aware of a video circulating online in which it is claimed racial abuse was allegedly directed at a player … We will review the footage to determine whether any offences have been committed,” a statement from the Metropolitan police said. Scholarship For HBCU Students Created To Honor Legacy Of Richard Collins III

Original post:

T he legacy of Richard Collins III —a student who tragically lost his life on the University of Maryland’s campus last year—will be kept alive through the creation of scholarships for HBCU students in the Maryland area, the Journal for Blacks in Higher Education reported. An annual $1 million scholarship was launched in honor of Richard Collins III, a Bowie State University student killed in May 2017. It will support ROTC cadets at all four of Maryland's HBCU's. https://t.co/qbOcD6ncMN — WJZ | CBS Baltimore (@wjz) November 29, 2018 Collins—who was a senior at Bowie State University—was the victim of a hate crime, the news outlet writes. While visiting the University of Maryland he was fatally stabbed by a white man. Collins had so much going for him. He was a 2nd Lt. in the Reserve Officer Training Corps and was slated to graduate just days before he lost his life. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan recently shared that the state would fund a $1 million scholarship—dubbed the 2nd Lt. Richard W. Collins III Leadership with Honor Scholarship—which will be awarded to students who attend historically Black colleges and universities and are a part of the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Students who attend Coppin State University, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, and Bowie State University will be eligible for the scholarship. The families of several individuals who lost their lives to violence have chosen to honor their legacies by helping others further their education. The family of Tamara E. O’Neal —a medical student who was murdered by her boyfriend in Chicago—launched the Tamara E. O’Neal Memorial Fund as an avenue to create scholarships for young, Black medical students. “Tamara was an incredible advocate, particularly for physicians of color or anyone that may have expressed an inkling of doubt, as her disarming nature and warm smile made it easy for even the shyest aspiring doctor to inquire about the amazing job she loved, and in due time lend herself as a resource,” said one of her classmates in a statement . (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images) Alfonso Ribeiro Reacts To Jada Pinkett Smith Claims They Went On Date Yesterday’s Red Table Talk addressing the humble (and messy) beginnings of Will & Jada’s famous relationship traveled around the internet faster than lightning. The couple addressed everything from rumors of Will cheating in his first marriage with Jada to how their relationship almost never happened. One of the bombs Jada dropped was that she went on a date with Will’s co-star “Carlton” first. Jada said, “I actually think I dated Alfonso, we went on one date”. Will agreed, saying he thought Ribeiro took Jada on a motorcycle. But, is this true??? Alfonso says it isn’t… Sorry Jada. Your memory is a little off. We went to lunch with your family when we both guest starred on A Different World the year before you became a regular. Sorry Jada. Your memory is a little off. Kanye West: Kim Kardashian Almost Divorced Me Over Slavery Comments!

Remember back in May when Kanye West said slavery was a choice and was justly torn limb-from-limb by the entire internet? Perhaps after weeks of concerted effort, you succeeded in blocking that shameful incident from your memory — but it’s still very much on the minds of both Kanye and his long-suffering wife. Earlier this month, Kanye debuted a new studio album , on which he made some surprising and disturbing revelations about his marriage and the way it’s been negatively affected by his erratic behavior. Now, the controversial rapper has gone into greater detail in a surprisingly candid interview with The New York Times . West says that after he made the infamous slavery comment during a conversation with TMZ staffers, he had reason to believe Kim Kardashian was considering ending the couple’s four-year marriage: “There was a moment where I felt like after TMZ, maybe a week after that, I felt like the energy levels were low, and I called different family members and was asking, you know, ‘Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?’ So that was a real conversation,” he told the paper. The comment won’t come as much of a surprise for fans who have listened closely to the lyrics on Kanye’s eighth studio album, titled simply ‘Ye : “I said, ‘Slavery a choice,’ they said, ‘How, Ye?'” West raps at one point, adding: “My wife callin’, screamin’, say, ‘We ’bout to lose it all! … Told her she could leave me now, but she wouldn’t leave.” Obviously, not every line in every rap song is an accurate reflection of the emcee’s real-life experiences, but Kanye prides himself on his authenticity and often insists that he’s 100 percent straightforward with his fans. That’s why it’s so troubling that the song contains at least one line in which he seemingly alluded to being unfaithful. “Told my wife I’ve never seen her After I hit it, bye Felicia, that’s the way that I’ma leave it,” Kanye raps on a song fittingly titled “Yikes”. Sounds like Kim had reasons for considering kicking Kanye to the curb that go beyond his astonishingly ignorant remarks. As for those dreadful comments Kanye is still defending them, telling the Times : “I said the idea of sitting in something for 400 years sounds—sounds—like a choice to me, I never said it’s a choice. I never said slavery itself—like being shackled in chains—was a choice. “That’s why I went from slave to 400 years to mental prison to this and that. If you look at the clip you see the way my mind works.” All of this comes at a time when Kim is being praised for her efforts to secure presidential pardons for non-violent offenders serving life sentences. In other words, don’t be surprised if you hear another round of Kim-Kanye divorce rumors . View Slideshow: Kanye West Gets ROASTED on Twitter For Dumb Slavery Comment
