It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times. Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive – sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better. I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.” A post shared by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (@sussexroyal) on Apr 10, 2019 at 2:58am PDT   For years, the Duke has been trying to break the stigma surrounding mental health. In a 2017 podcast interview with The Telegraph , Harry talked about his own struggles with mental health, especially after his mom Princess Diana passed when he was just 12 years old: “My way of dealing with it was refusing to ever think about my mum because why would that help? It’s only going to make you sad. It’s not going to bring her back. It was 20 years of not thinking about it and then two years of total chaos.” Harry has since led campaigns to bring more awareness to mental and emotional needs. His series with Oprah has yet to be named, but it’s set to air in 2020.

Millenials Are The Loneliest Generation, According To These Studies

Source: Peathegee Inc / Getty It’s no secret that there has been a rise in mental health issues over the last 40 years. Disorders that use to plague a select few now besets an entire generation — hence the reason why Gen Y has been deemed the “anxious generation”. Older folks are quick to write millennials off as lazy and entitled, but quite the contrary. “A 2017 study found that perfectionism is more prevalent than ever. This is important to note because a lot of research connects perfectionism with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.”- The Thirty Even though we have the ability to connect with different kinds of people from all over the world at any given time, thanks to social media, millennials reportedly  feel lonelier than any other generation. “A study from the Intergenerational Foundation that compared three generations of young people, today’s millennials are unhappier and lonelier than previous generations, reporting a lower sense of wellbeing across areas including health, relationships, and finances. The quality of family relationships declined “by more than 50 percent between 2005 and 2015″, while close friendships fell by six percent.” – Bustle Research also claims that feeling lonely is as dangerous to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Socioeconomics, race and gender also play a part in experiencing loneliness in life — but for millenials as a whole, social media seems to be the biggest culprit. 77 percent of Americans reportedly have a social media account of some kind, but regardless of the platform, the effects on health are the same. “What happens many times when they log on is that you kind of activate a lot of social comparison. People don’t necessarily have to be super aware that this is occurring, but it does. You log on, you’re generally dealing with very curated content on the other side.” – Oscar Ybarra, PhD, a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan Starting your healing process and staying off social media is not as easy as some may think. Social media started out as just a leisure thing to do and now it’s involved in every aspect of our lives. So what’s a practical cure for the daunting feeling of isolation? Experts say that prioritizing social interaction and feeling connected to something or someone are major keys to healing. “Research has found that attachment to even just a place reduces loneliness. If everyone decided to remain in the same city or town for a lifetime, as people once did for centuries, we’d receive the two best remedies for loneliness — a home and a community.” – Psychology Today It’s cool to be independent and self-reliant, but the truth of the matter is that humans are social beings and we need each other. So put down the phone for a day or two or three and go talk to someone IRL.

Amber Portwood: THIS is Why I Wanted to Quit Teen Mom!

It’s the question all Teen Mom OG fans have been asking, ever since this beloved franchise wrapped up its latest season? Is she or isn’t she? Is Amber Portwood actually quitting the series that made her famous… or did she just made a few emotional remarks in the heat of some angry moments? Portwood has been through nearly as much as any reality star we can think of. She broke our hearts this past season when she told her cousin that post-partum depression in the wake of giving birth to son James caused her to contemplate suicide . And to almost go through with it one time last year. “There was a night that I was waiting for him and James to go to bed so I could kill myself,” Amber said on air. Thankfully, James realized something was wrong and would not leave his girlfriend’s side that evening. Fast forward a few months and Portwood made many comments about being done with Teen Mom. “I think I should separate myself from the show,” she told an executive producer at one point, adding: “I just don’t feel like this is right for my life anymore, seeing that you guys want a certain kind of story that I just don’t want to give you anymore. I just feel like it’s very different from a reality show anymore.” Sick of the criticism and sick of the way she was being portrayed, Portwood showed up late for the reunion taping and lashed out on Twitter late last year. “The heartache this show has put me through is too much to bear anymore,” she wrote. “If I will not be shown then there’s nothing more to do. My name will not get smeared anymore. I hope everyone is resting easy with the money they’ve made off of heartache and pain that I’ve endured.” View Slideshow: Amber Portwood: Officially Out of Teen Mom OG?! It sounded like she was done, but Portwood then clarified her stance in an interview with E! this week. “I’ve been with this franchise for 10 years now, such a long time, and I just don’t want to see the show go down like that,” Amber said, confirming she WILL reutn next year and try to help boot the sagging ratings . “I wanna amp it up a little more.” Good. We’re glad to hear it. We very much want to see where Amber’s story goes. As for why she threatened to quit? Why she felt as if the show had been so unfair to her and made her feel so horrible about herself? “It seemed that at the time I wasn’t getting the attention that I feel like other stars were getting,” she said as a guest on E!’s Daily Pop, elaborting: “But I was going to a psychiatrist and I had a really good support system, great family.” And, best of all, it sounds as if Portwood is in a very positive place right now. “I’m feeling amazing,” she added in this same intervew. “I’ve really changed for the better going through that… I never felt anything like that before in my life. It came out of nowhere and it scared the crap out of me, honestly.” Amber concludes that she wants to stick around as a Teen Mom not simply due to her salary or the fame that goes along with it. Referring to Depression and other mental health struggles, she told E! that the MTC series gives her a platform to “help people with what I’ve been through.” Looking ahead, she really thinks the darkest days are over. On the new season, which won’t air for many months, Portwood teases that viewers will “see a whole different side of me and my love, Andrew [Glennon].” Yay. That makes us very happy.

Michael Lohan: Dina Lohan Is Still Ruining My Life!

The current season of Celebrity Big Brother features a wide array of public figures ranging from the douchey (Kato Kaelin) to the mega-douchey (Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci). (Shout out to Ricky Williams and Tom Green, the only non-douches sharing a roof with the Mooch). But in terms of delusional behavior that makes us wonder if we should be laughing or recommending the services of a mental health professional, no one tops Dina Lohan. You might remember Dina as She Who Brought Forth the Hellspawn more commonly known as Lindsay Lohan. There was a time when Dina was the ultimate stage mom, and Lindsay was signing seven-figure deals left and right. These days, of course, Lindsay is running a brothel in Greece , which leaves her loved ones to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, this is like letting a housecat loose in the wild after a couple decades indoors. You see, the Lohans only have two methods of procuring resources: They can finagle a role on a low-rated reality show, or they can try to extort other members of the family. With her expensive taste in both jewelry and mind-altering powders, it should come as no surprise that Dina is pursuing both strategies. She’s quickly become a fan favorite on Big Brother , largely thanks to her insane proclamations about her imaginary boyfriend . Far from content with her CBB paycheck, however, Dina has been using her new platform to go after her ex-husband, claiming that Michael Lohan still owes her incredible amounts of cash. In a recent interview with The Blast, Michael addressed those claims as only he can: “With regard to money, I bought her house,” he explained. “When we divorced I gave her the house for the kids … I have it all to her for the kids but it came back to bite her in the ass because she kept the kids from me.” Michael doubled-down on those comments by claiming that he still supports Dina financially, years after their divorce. “Whenever there’s a problem, she calls me.” He also claims Dina still owes him a six-figure sum from a previous court settlement. “I still have a $100,000 judgment on her and I never pursued it because she’s so broke,” Michael claims. “But after this, the network and production company will be getting a call from my lawyers. If she keeps up the antics.” Of course, this is still Michael Lohan we’re talking about, so take everything he says with a grain of salt. Especially that part about donating six figures to charity. Meghan Markle vs. Camilla Parker Bowles: Royal Feud Alert!

When Meghan Markle reached out to British sex workers last month, the gesture was likened to past philanthropic campaigns spearheaded by her mother-in-law Camilla Parker Bowles. Like Meghan, Camilla prides herself on championing causes that other public figures prefer to look away from. So when Meghan made it clear that she intends to focus on less photo-op-friendly causes like addiction, mental health, and the dangers faced by sex workers, it was widely assumed that she and Camilla enjoy a close relationship with a foundation of shared values. But according to a new report from Radar Online, that’s very much not the case . As you’re likely aware, Meghan is feuding with just about everyone these days. The reports of the Duchess of Sussex locking horns with Kate Middleton have gained the most tabloid traction, but there have also been reports of Meghan feuding with Prince William , Prince Charles, and just about everyone else in the Royal Family, with the possible exception of the Queen. Now, it seems Camilla can be added to Meg’s ever-growing enemies list. And according to Radar, this feud is getting uglier by the day. “The drama with Meghan and Kate is nothing compared to what’s going on with Camilla,” an insider tells the site. “Camilla doesn’t really talk to Meghan,” the source adds. “She is snobbiest and least friendly.” Apparently, Camilla’s complaints are the same as the other royal traditionalists who think Meg’s not deserving of her title. Bowles reportedly doesn’t like that Meghan is American, a former actress, and famously headstrong. (There have been widespread reports that Meg is being treated unfairly by so many Brits due to her race, but we’ll leave that speculation for another time.) “Camilla even told her ‘this is real life and you’re not an actress playing a role,’” says one tipster. “Meghan has tried everything to get Camilla to warm up to her and nothing has worked. “She wants to be close to her, but Camilla isn’t allowing it.” As Charles’ second wife after Princess Di, Camilla is certainly accustomed to being treated unfairly by the British press. One would think that she and Meg would be able to bond over that shared experience. But apparently, Camilla’s the type of bully who likes to pay it forward. When Will It End: Noose Pics Labeled “Back To School Necklaces” Are Displayed In Long Island Middle School

Source: Westend61 / Getty Some Local Residents Are Calling For The Teachers Involved To Be Fired Folks just won’t let go of the racist imagery of the past (and present) whether it’s Black History Month or not. According to New York Daily News , one Long Island middle school joins the list of people making light of hurtful symbols when teachers displayed a photo collage that included a picture of two nooses labeled “back to school necklaces.” Text reading “Ha ha” and “#Yes” were beside the noose pics. It all went down at Roosevelt Middle School where most of the students are people of color. Many parents and other officials were outraged by the imagery. “I was very upset about it. I mean, if they feel that way then they’re in the wrong school district,” Yvette Hudson of Roosevelt said to  News12 Long Island . According to the office of the Hempstead Town Supervisors, 45 percent of Roosevelt Middle Schools’s students are Black while 55 percent are Hispanic or Latino as of the 2017-2018 school year. Some people of Hempstead tried to actually defend the actions of the teachers involved.  “That may not be what they’re trying to say,” Savitri Lekhram said. “It’s probably just a joke, it probably has nothing to do with African-Americans or anything. But at the same time they can still draw that connection.” The Roosevelt School district  issued a brief statement calling the situation a “personnel matter,” and they couldn’t comment further on specifics. They did say, however, “The Roosevelt School District is aware of the inappropriate conduct at the Roosevelt Middle School. The Board of Education was made aware of this incident on Thursday, February 7, 2019, an investigation was immediately initiated, and appropriate action taken. The Board of Education has zero tolerance for the display of racially offensive images.” One local pastor wasn’t satisfied with this statement however, and he wants the teachers involved to be fired. Arthur Mackey Jr. of Mount Sinai Baptist Church said a friend who works at the school notified him about the noose pictures. “Once that was brought to my attention and I saw the picture, we knew that we had to stand up and inform the public,” Mackey told  NBC News . “All we’re asking is after a thorough investigation, that whoever is involved in this racist image be fired.” Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen echoed the same sentiments in a statement that was issued on Sunday. “This imagery that was on display in a Roosevelt Middle School classroom is undoubtedly racist and should not be tolerated in our Town, or any other community,” said Gillen. “The imagery is also deeply insensitive and troubling to anyone with mental health issues and those contemplating suicide.” There’s no word yet if any faculty involved has been let go.

Pete Davidson Returns to SNL, Touches on Suicide Threat

Pete Davidson made his first extended appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend since threatening to kill himself over Instagram a few weeks ago. On the latest edition of this NBC program, the comedian stopped by Weekend Update and offered his thoughts on… … random Clint Eastwood movie The Mule?!? Yes. But the aforementioned talk of taking his own life did not go totally ignored. “Here to talk about a very important experience he had over the holidays is Pete Davidson,” Colin Jost said as Davidson joined him during the segment, asking: “How are ya, Pete?” “I'm great, as you know, I've had a really crazy month, and I wanna talk about something that matters a lot to me,” Davidson replied. “OK, mental health?” Jost asked. “No, the new Clint East movie, The Mule,” Davidson told Jost. From there, Davidson and fellow comedian John Mulaney really did talk at length about this film, although Pete did quip at one: “After observing John's life, I publicly threatened suicide. I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't make that joke, but it is funny.” This is where Mulaney turned to Davidson to assure him, “You are loved by many…and we are glad you are OK.” Back in December, the 25-year-old cast member shared a note on his Instagram account that read as follows: “I really don't want to be on this earth anymore. I'm doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don't know how much longer I can last. All I've ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.” Davidson has often been open about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health. He was also open about his engagement to Ariana Grande , until that fizzled out and the two went their separate ways. At the end of his segment here, Davidson did seemingly addressed his ex, saying very simply: “I didn't mention her once.” Check out the sort of funny and definitely awkward skit here.
