These days, it seems not a week goes by without some new report of Meghan Markle pissing off her royal in-laws. Of course, while it’s true that the Windsors can be a stuffy and unforgiving lot, you can safely bet that most of these reports are the result of a British tabloid press that very much wants to believe Meghan is despised by Prince Harry’s family. It’s almost as if there’s some sort of obvious difference between Meghan and, say, Kate Middleton. It must be that Meghan is too American , as the outlets like The Sun have repeatedly claimed. Or perhaps it’s just that the royals are still biased against actresses after that whole Wallis Simpson affair of [checks notes] 83 years ago. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Perhaps we’ll never quite know why the tabloid press is so eager to push the narrative that the royals want Meghan condemned to the scullery like Emma Stone in The Favourite . But for whatever reason, the smear campaign continues. The latest claim about the mostly-made-up Meghan vs. the Windsors feud comes from this side of the pond for a change, as Radar Online is reporting that there’s some lingering beef over Meghan’s New York City baby shower . Several outlets reported that the royals were not thrilled about the event, as it goes against their traditions. None of Meg’s in-laws were in attendance, though she reportedly extended invitations to several members of her UK fam. Now, there are reports that Meghan will soon attend a UK baby shower, this one hosted by Kate Middleton. While the two celebrations will be very different in everything from tone to guest list, they’ll reportedly have one big thing in common — the absence of Princess Beatrice. PB is the daughter of Prince Andrew and the infamous Fergie (the duchess, not the Black Eyed Pea), and according to Radar, she and Meghan have never seen eye-to-eye. Insiders say Meghan extending an invitation to Beatrice “would have helped prove to the world that there’s no beef between Meg and the blood princesses of the family.” Meg simply wasn’t having it, however, primarily between Bea has “occasionally been an awful snob” to her. Sounds to us like reason enough for a solid snub! Despite the fact that she’s apparently no big fan of Meghan’s, Bea was reportedly wounded by the snub and is now “determined to make things even harder for Meghan,” the insider claims. Might there be trouble in Royal paradise? Just a few weeks before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to become first-time parents?!? We can’t help but wonder about this possibility after something Harry said to his wife in front of many witnesses… The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were visiting Education For All, a boarding house supporting female education in rural communities in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco this week, when they were congratulated on their upcoming arrival. (Markle is due in early May with either a boy or a girl, neither the couple nor the Palace has revealed the gender.) “I wish to say congratulations for your pregnancy,” a woman in attendance told the supertars in a video shared by the BBC, to which Harry turned towards Markle and joked: “Wait, you’re pregnant?” Not a bad joke for any husband to make, right? Especially when said pregnancy is, literally , the most talked-about pregnancy on the planet. “Surprise!” Markle replied, prompting Harry to quip: “Is it mine?” Ummm… what?!? Did Harry really just ask Markle whether she cheated on him? We know this is a common joke for people to make when a woman is expecting, but it’s wildly inappropriate when you stop and think about it. Where, exactly, is the humor in speculating about your wife’s infidelity? Markle, of course, laughed at Harry’s seemingly harmless inquiry. Everyone knows he’s sort of a big jokester and was just aiming for a laugh. But is this really what Markle needss right now? She remains under fire from critics, members of the Royal Family and even her own so-called loved ones. Rumors of a feud between Markle and Kate Middleton have thankfully died down of late, but resentment remains over the way Meghan allegedly treated her fellow Duchess in the past. The former Suits actress still has a reputation for being an entitled American and we just don’t think Harry made the right call here in possibly alo giving her a reputation for being a disloyal spouse. The Royal twosome is currently visiting Morocco on a three-day trip; they arrived in the country on Saturday. The following day (Monday), Harry and his bride took a helicopter to the Atlas Mountains to visit a girls’ boarding house and talk to students there, which is where Markle received a henna tattoo to mark seven months of pregnancy. Because some folks are just always out to savage her, she received negative feedback for this decision as well. The poor woman simply can’t win. In a revealing interview with Us Weekly , the veteran Jersey Shore star has admitted that he checked into a rehab facility after the filiming of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 2. Why? Because he finally realized the extent of his dependency on alcohol. Drunk Ronnie has often been a source of humor and mockey for fans of this MTV franchise, but Ronnie explains below why it really should not be a laughing matter. Ronnie Has Made Many Headline of Late And few of them have been positive… and most of them have centered on his VERY rocky relationship with Jen Harley, who gave birth to the couple’s daughter in early April of 2018. 2. Harley has been arrested for alleged assault against Ronnie… Ronnie has been accused of ransacking Jen’s apartment… Jen has referred to Ronnie as a “deadbeat cokehead” and Ronnie has referred to Jen as a “cum dumpster.” It’s been ugly. 3. At Least Ronnie Recognized There Was a Problem “I decided to go to treatment because I wanted to be a better person, a better father for my daughter,” Otiz-Magro tells Us Weekly, adding that he entered the facility for help with depression and alcohol abuse. 4. A Lot More from Ronnie: “Eventually, all the bad decisions I was making were going to lead me to places that I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be led to the place that I am now – that’s happy, healthy and the best role model for my daughter.” 5. No show has ever needed a “talking stick” type of mechanic quite like The View . After last week's uncomfortable discussion about Joy Behar's history with blackface , they're now discussing politics. Well, they're trying to. In this clip, Joy brings the discussion to a halt after Meghan McCain throws an on-air hissy fit. “What about Senator Amy Klobuchar?” Joy Behar asks rhetorically, kicking off a new topic. “She kicked off her Presidential campaign in the middle of a blizzard,” Joy notes. “And,” Joy continues. “Trump mocked her.” Joy continues to try to set up for the next portion of the discussion. Unfortunately, Meghan is already trying to interject with her opinion. It's literally her job to voice her views — it's right there in the show's name — but she's supposed to let Joy finish introducing the topic. Trump's tweet, attempting to roast Klobuchar, was his usual nonsense. He can't understand that climate change actually causes extreme weather on both ends despite an overall trend of warming. So he thinks that blizzards won't happen because of climate change (even though, obviously, a warming climate means more moisture in the air in many places). We get it — his brain is bad. That's been clear for a long time. But Meghan can't even let Joy read through something as short as a tweet without trying to interject. In fact, Meghan loudly says: “You know what?” while Joy is reading, and then we hear a smack , presumably of her note cards hitting the table. They then go into Klobuchar's response to Trump, which was to point out that his fake hair wouldn't look great in a blizzard. Meghan laughs nervously, saying: “It's stupid, it's all so stupid.” Abby Huntsman (who looks so much like her dad ) suggests that other politicians should rise above Trump's tactic of slinging insults. And then they get into the merits of whether women have an advantage, since Trump insulting women always looks worse to the public. I can't say that I agree with Abby on all of her views, but she does have a very congenial way of talking, even when she's wrong or being sarcastic. But Meghan was clearly chomping at the bit and felt like she was being steamrolled. “Can I say something now?” Meghan whines. (I don't want to be mean to Meghan — in fact, years ago, I really liked her! But oh gosh, that's exactly what she's doing) “Is that okay, Joy?” she asks sarcastically. “Do I have permission to speak now on Amy Klobuchar?” She looks at the audience as she asks this, as if appealing for sympathy. “We’re all good?” she asks indignantly. “Okay! Two quick things. Number one, I have friends that were at her announcement,” Meghan begins. She then cuts herself off, presumably at Joy's astonished facial expression. “Alright, no!” Meghan says. “By all means, keep going, Joy!” Clearly, Meghan thinks that Joy was trying to interrupt her. Joy makes it clear that this was not the case. “No,” Joy jokes. “If you're gonna have a hissy fit, we can't continue.” Her voice tone and her fake sullen expression make it clear that Joy is joking, here. There are times when Meghan McCain makes really great points on The View. Part of her appeal on the show is that she can really jump in and make a powerful point … every now and then. But she does spend a lot of time as the show's primary antagonist — even when her co-stars do not necessarily disagree with her. She seems to have an adversarial disposition towards her castmates. But they've faced off before, and seem to be able to keep things civil when they're not on camera. The View exists mostly for entertainment. They discuss the news rather than report it. That said … seriously. They might want to figure out a way to determine who talks when. At the very least, it might appease Meghan, who seems to constantly feel like she's being silenced. Last week, Ellen Page went viral for a powerful, inspirational rant against Trump’s opposition to LGBTQ+ rights. Page married her wife over a year ago, came out as gay in 2014, and has used her platform to speak out for her community. Now, she’s taking aim at Chris Pratt — or rather, at the anti-gay views of the church that he attends. Ellen Page’s moving speech was delivered on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert . Just as Ellen was praised for her words, Colbert was praised for giving her the time to speak up. That was great! But the very next night, Chris Pratt appeared on the show to promote the sequel to The Lego Movie . He spoke about his faith-inspired diet. Chris is a Christian and attend Zoe Church. “Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq,” Ellen wrote, quote-tweeting Chris’ appearance on the show. “So maybe address that too?” she suggested. Over the weekend, Ellen explained why she feels that it is so important to address this topic. “If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people,” Ellen Page tweets. She continues: “don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed.” “Being anti LGBTQ is wrong,” Ellen affirms. “There aren’t two sides.” Or, rather, there technically are two sides but one of them is bad. This is not like disagreeing about the colors of a dress. “The damage it causes is severe. Full stop,” her tweet concludes. “Sending love to all.” “Why does it HAVE to be addressed??” asked one tweeter. “Why can’t people just respect his beliefs?” that person asked. “Are we really judging 1 Individual because of the company he keeps?” “Um. Yeah,” Ellen replies, answering the first question. “That’s called complacency.” She’s right. Ellen did not delve into the more complicated territory — such as where a view stops being a belief and becomes bigotry . She also did not delve into the complicated question of how much a person’s choice in house of worship reflects their personal values. Instead, she focused on a broader message, encouraging people to hear the thoughts of minorities instead of immediately getting defensive. “If lgbtq+ people are expressing their pain, their trauma, their experiences…maybe just try and listen?” Ellen suggests. “Open your heart, stop being defensive, and have compassion,” she implores them. “It’s a beautiful and life changing feeling, empathy,” she writes. Ellen concludes: “Much love truly to all.” Pastor Chad Veach has said that he founded Zoe Church by modeling it after Hillsong Church. And Hillsong is very controversial. “We do not affirm a gay lifestyle,” Hillsong senior pastor and founder Brian Houston has stated. For the bajillionth time, we find ourselves asking what a gay lifestyle , or a straight lifestyle , means. It’s an odd euphemism. “And because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid,” he added. Yikes. “I recognize this one statement alone is upsetting to people on both sides of this discussion,” Houston continued. “Which points to the complexity of the issue for churches all over the world,” he said. “Everyone is welcome at Hillsong church,” he affirmed. He did add: “except for known predators, those who are disruptive, or those who have adversarial agendas.” Known predators should always be excluded, and we can understand why one would exclude disruptive guests. The adversarial agendas line, however, sounds almost like something that you’d hear from the Church of Scientology. Justin Bieber is a huge fan of Hillsong Church. So is Hailey Bieber. And Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian and so many others. The global megachurch, first founded in Australia, does not shy away from catering to celebrities. But the massive religious entity is no stranger to scandal. Ellen Page is far from the first to criticize the church and its founder. For one thing, Brian Houston, who founded Hillsong Church, is currently under investigation. In November of 2018, 60 Minutes Australia reported that he remains under investigation for covering up his father’s repeated sexual abuse of children. Hillsong has faced criticism for its involvement with a shady organization known as Mercy Ministries, which closed down in 2009. The church has also been involved with a number of shady individuals. Finally, former members of the church have described it as a shady institution with authoritarian leanings that frown upon independent thought. (Some have said that, yeah, it’s a church, while others have argued that churches aren’t necessarily like this) Notably, one former Hillsong member who is a vocal critic was arrested for trespassing while being interviewed outside of Hillsong. It’s important to note that Ellen Page isn’t going to war with Chris Pratt or with any church. But her tweets are extremely fair. There is nothing wrong with asking someone if an institution with which they have chosen to associate reflects their views and values. We all want to believe that Chris Pratt is a good person who doesn’t have anything negative to say about the LGBTQ+ community. But wouldn’t it be nice to hear that from Chris himself? (And from the others who attend Zoe and Hillsong) Depending upon his answer, we could all go back to enjoying him guilt-free.
When Meghan Markle reached out to British sex workers last month, the gesture was likened to past philanthropic campaigns spearheaded by her mother-in-law Camilla Parker Bowles. Like Meghan, Camilla prides herself on championing causes that other public figures prefer to look away from. So when Meghan made it clear that she intends to focus on less photo-op-friendly causes like addiction, mental health, and the dangers faced by sex workers, it was widely assumed that she and Camilla enjoy a close relationship with a foundation of shared values. But according to a new report from Radar Online, that’s very much not the case . As you’re likely aware, Meghan is feuding with just about everyone these days. The reports of the Duchess of Sussex locking horns with Kate Middleton have gained the most tabloid traction, but there have also been reports of Meghan feuding with Prince William , Prince Charles, and just about everyone else in the Royal Family, with the possible exception of the Queen. Now, it seems Camilla can be added to Meg’s ever-growing enemies list. And according to Radar, this feud is getting uglier by the day. “The drama with Meghan and Kate is nothing compared to what’s going on with Camilla,” an insider tells the site. “Camilla doesn’t really talk to Meghan,” the source adds. “She is snobbiest and least friendly.” Apparently, Camilla’s complaints are the same as the other royal traditionalists who think Meg’s not deserving of her title. Bowles reportedly doesn’t like that Meghan is American, a former actress, and famously headstrong. (There have been widespread reports that Meg is being treated unfairly by so many Brits due to her race, but we’ll leave that speculation for another time.) “Camilla even told her ‘this is real life and you’re not an actress playing a role,’” says one tipster. “Meghan has tried everything to get Camilla to warm up to her and nothing has worked. “She wants to be close to her, but Camilla isn’t allowing it.” As Charles’ second wife after Princess Di, Camilla is certainly accustomed to being treated unfairly by the British press. One would think that she and Meg would be able to bond over that shared experience. But apparently, Camilla’s the type of bully who likes to pay it forward. But what’s reportedly much more devastating to Meghan is the role that her awful family has played in spreading damaging secrets and lies in an effort to destroy her public image. Sources close to the Duchess of Sussex say she’s not terribly surprised that her half-sister, Samantha Markle, is attempting to cash in with constant slander, as the failed actress has been deeply envious of Meghan for her entire life. However, Meg is absolutely floored by her father’s decision to take part in Samantha’s relentless bullying campaign. According to new reports from multiple outlets, just prior to her wedding, Meghan penned a heartfelt letter to her father, in which she implored him to stop making disparaging comments to the press. “Dad, I’m so heartbroken. I love you. I have one father. Please stop victimizing me through the media so we can repair our relationship,” reads a portion of the letter, according to the Daily Mail . Earlier this week, five friends of Meghan’s spoke to People magazine and revealed that their objective in doing so was to “stand up against the global bullying” that she’s endured since entering the global spotlight.” They revealed that in response to his daughter’s letter Thomas Markle suggested that the two of them participate in a photoshoot. “She feels like, ‘That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. I’m telling you I don’t want to communicate through the media, and you’re asking me to communicate through the media. Did you hear anything I said?'” said one of Meghan’s friends. “I think she will always feel genuinely devastated by what he has done,” remarked another. The consensus among the anonymous friend group is that Thomas and Samantha are intentionally causing harm to the Duchess’ public image — not to mention her psyche — with no regard for the fact that Meghan is currently pregnant with her first child. “We worry about what this is doing to her and the baby,” said one female associate. “It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.” In response to Samantha Markle’s claims that Thomas has been unable to contact his daughter, the friends revealed that that’s simply not the case. “He knows how to get in touch with her,” remarked a former costar. “He’s never called; he’s never texted.
