Months later, she said she’s ready to date again. “I like being wined and dined,” she said when talking about what she wants in a man with Tiffany “New York” Pollard on her Brunch with Tiffany show. “I love talking. I love getting into people. I’m a foodie, you’ve got to feed me. That’s happening.” The news that Cyn was looking to get back out there was literal news to New York, who asked her about being in a high-profile relationship with Joe, which she clarified to a shocked New York that she was no longer in. When New York asked her if it was a “little bit of a separation,” she “It’s not a little bit.” “Cyn Santana is single,” she said. “It didn’t work out and this is it.” SEE ALSO: Joe Budden & Cyn Santana Call It Quits She also made it clear for the first time that the breakup wasn’t a mutual decision. The 26-year-old reality TV personality dumped her 39-year-old partner and father of her son Lexington in an effort to protect herself. “ We didn’t decide on anything. I did what was best for my mental health, my peace and for me and my son, you know what I mean? It was a decision that I had to make on my own. This wasn’t a unison thing,” she said. “How can I keep this very sweet? Basically, let’s just say that I’m probably the happiest I’ve ever been and that was probably the best decision that I’ve made in my entire life. In the 26 years I have of living on this earth, the best decision I made was leaving that relationship. And my son and I are amazing.” Cyn has spoken about struggling with depression in the past, which Joe hadn’t been the most supportive about. She told him on LHHNY that he was “ dismissive as f–k ” about her feelings. It’s likely that issue, as well as their sexual incompatibility at times, led her to feel like it might be best to move on. What that means is neither one of us said it’s over.” He said instead that they “haven’t spoken in a little while” and that he “didn’t take it no way when she moved all her s–t out of the house.” In a cryptic tweet in response to a fan question about breakups around that time, Cyn made it clear that it doesn’t take two to end a relationship. “Actions speak louder than words,” she said. “People have months broken up and don’t even know it. Source: NBC / Getty The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is being reimagined once again thanks to a fan-made trailer that pays homage to Aunt Viv. Only this time, the beloved 90s show is put within the Jordan Peele horror context where the dark-skinned Aunt Viv and the light-skinned Aunt Viv become violent adversaries. The trailer was the brainchild of filmmaker Bobby Huntley and Colbie Fray after they met at Sundance Film Festival. “We left Sundance knowing we wanted to work together on something within the near future,” Huntley said, according to Shadow and Act. “A month or so later, I called her late one night and pitched her this idea and without hesitation, she came on board.” Along with Fray’s creative partner Olamma Opparah , the filmmakers fleshed out the idea for the fan-made trailer called Auntie . Then, they produced the movie with a crew made up of mostly Black women, including producers Cassondra “Cassie” Beasley, Kayla Daniels and cinematographer Mya Morton. The description for the plot reads: “ After a long, excruciating stint at a mental facility, Vivian Banks is released. Against strict orders from her psychiatrist, she makes her way back to Bel Air. Only to find her home and family has no recollection of her and every evidence of her existence has been erased. She must find out who was behind the hostile takeover before it is too late to reclaim her family and her home.” The trailer stars Theresa Lang, Letitia Jackson, Nic Starr and Charles Huggins. “Our goal isn’t to pit the two real-life actresses against each,” Huntley said. “They both did an amazing job bringing that character to life in their own unique way. We love every actor and actress affiliated with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Ai r. It’s just human nature to contrast and compare. For people to still debate over 25 years later is really a testament to their talents and longevity. Trust me, we are too. Rapper Kamaiyah has been laying low since being on the cover of the XXL Freshmen List back in 2017, but now, she’s in some pretty hot water in California. The rapper has been arrested and charged with felony negligent discharge of a firearm. According to reports from TMZ , the San Fernando Valley police say that no one was a target in the shooting and the firearm being discharged was a total accident–but unfortunately for Kamaiyah, that doesn’t make it legal by any means. Police say that the Oakland native was hanging out at an apartment building in the San Fernando Valley, where she and some friends made their way into the facility’s movie screening room. So not an actual movie theater, but pretty close. Anyway, on surveillance footage reviewed by management (and later reviewed by law enforcement), a woman authorities believe to be Kamaiyah was seen pulling a handgun from inside her bag before letting a round go in the room. She ended up darting away shortly afterward. According to law enforcement, it appears that the discharge of the weapon was purely accidental and the gun went off as Kamaiyah was playing with it. After being booked, the rapper was released on $35,000 bond and went on her way. Her only hope now is that she has a great lawyer who can make this whole headache go away. When the 26-year-old triple threat isn’t busy sharing co-hosting duties on Strahan, Sara and Michael , she’s working on other projects in TV, film and social media. Her most recent foray onto the big screen is Hustlers , female-helmed stripper revenge drama that also stars Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Constance Wu, and Lizzo. Palmer plays Mercedes, a crafty comedic vixen who is down with the #GirlGang of strippers hustling unwitting clients out of money. Hustlers is in theaters today, and we got to briefly chat Palmer about preparing for the film, her NYFW debut, comedic aspirations, and how the Marvel Universe would be a good look for her! Hello Beautiful: Tell me about Mercedes and what attracted you to the role? Keke Palmer: What attracted me was that when I read some of her lines, I felt like she was a bit of a comic relief, and I really love and have been excited in the past few years with just my skits on my [social media], and just really going into comedy and embracing that aspect of myself. So, I was excited about the opportunity to showcase some of that, but then also just the entire group of women that I would be working with. The director was great. This is a movie that’s very gag-worthy where it’s like, strippers and Jennifer Lopez! Yes! But then to meet her and to know that it’s a movie that had depth, that the production also put women in a very powerful position and that it was going to be very cinematic; I was like, okay, I really want to be a part of this! HB: Your character didn’t have any pole routines, but I heard you went and took some classes at Foxy Fitness in Manhattan. Is that true? KP: Yes. HB: Did you train with Ashley Fox? KP: I did go there but I feel bad that I don’t remember the girl’s name, but I did go there. I know that Foxy Fitness is where we went and did a training class. I just wanted to try it because so often people at say that it’s such a good workout and there’s also so much fun. So I was just like in my life. I’ve been trying to make time to go to one and when I did the movie I said, they’ve got somebody that’s doing classes. I might as well just go and so me and Lili [Reinhart] went and we had a blast, but it was not easy. HB: Did you learn anything about the pole community that you didn’t know before? KP: I think I really understood that pole dancing is a true art. Even if you are a stripper in the club, it doesn’t mean you know how to pole dance. That’s something that some girls never learn or never play with. So for me, I was just like, if you’re a pole answer you are dope! HB: Okay, so you had a big moment at NYFW. You walked your first runway with cornrows and red lipstick. So what did that mean to you? What does that mean for the brown girls out there who might still be afraid to wear red lipstick or think that brains can’t be chic? KP: We got to step into ourselves and own ourselves, which I think many of us do! This is the thing, people might have comments about your hair being this way or being that way, but I think the real point is that it’s about what you think. So if you’re not into something then cool, that’s your prerogative, but we can’t do it based off of what other people think about us. And I think the most beautiful thing about you is what is uniquely you. I did the big chop a couple of years ago and embracing my natural curls and finding ways to compliment them has been such an amazing and empowering journey for me because don’t nobody have this hair! This is my journey. Just don’t get to a place where you feel like what you have already isn’t good and like you have to fix it. HB: So speaking of hair, I heard you know how to do hair like with sewins and what not! KP: Yup, I do! HB: Do you know how to braid too? KP: Yep. HB: With extensions? KP: I do know how to braid with extensions, but I need to get better at tucking. HB: So let’s say you’re going on vacation soon and don’t feel like dealing with your hair. What would be your go-to braided style? KP: I would just do two braids. HB: With hair added or just natural? KP: I would do it with my natural hair, especially if I’m on vacation. Who the hell I’m tryna impress [laughs]? I’m on vacation love, two braids! And then if I had somebody do it, I might do individuals. Braids are always a perfect go-to. HB: Absolutely and they last forever. Well not forever— KP: But they do, somewhat! HB: Going back to red lipstick, what’s your favorite red right now? KP: I used to feel like yuck about dark colors, but not because of my complexion, because sometimes I felt like it aged me. I always try to keep a very youthful type of look, but I’ve learned different ways to rock red lips that have made me feel like, okay, this is a moment. This is how I pull the look together. I think really figuring out, you know, maybe I don’t go heavy on the eyeshadow, maybe I do something lighter, or maybe just an eyeliner is what I need and sometimes I’m not going to go too heavy on the contour but I’ll go heavier on the lip. It’s about finding different ways to enhance it. I think because a red lip, I don’t care what comes out you are. It’s always strong color in matching it and figure out what it looks good with. HB: Back on a more serious note, how do you feel about black female visibility in the media right now? I feel like It’s always changing. It’s always Ebbs and flows. I feel like sometimes it’s what you seek out. It depends on what you’re looking for; if you’re looking for something that’s commercial. We don’t always see that Black Panther moment [but] I want to be the kind of person that says I’m happy we’re getting a Harriet Tubman film. I’m happy that Viola Davis has her own hit show. I’m happy that Will Smith broke the record on Netflix. There are great people out there that are representing and getting major platforms to do it, but of course, at the end of the day, the more people that we can have of color, of more diversity, the better. We can have men and women, young and old, Black and White. That way, more our stuff is going to look realistic to the world. If we only have certain people that are putting the movies together and putting the music together, putting the Fashion shows together, they’re not going to relate to as much to the other groups that are being ignored. I want more representation to be behind the scenes because if they’re behind the scenes then we’re going to see it in front. HB: It’s funny you mentioned a Black Panther moment because I high Key want you to be part of the Marvel Universe. I want you to play Madam Slay or something! KP: O h my God! I would love to be a part of Marvel! And you know I’m with Disney now, girl! That would be a dream. I would love to do an action movie. HB: What are some other types of roles are you looking forward to? KP: I’m definitely in the bag of comedies and action. I’m loving to do that kind of thing or a coming of age story, like to put you in the mind of an everyday movie. So often, especially as black people, we either do something very dramatic or it’s just funny, but it’s never like Bridget Jones’s Diary or the kind of movies that Jennifer Aniston. We don’t often get those kinds of things from the perspective of, I’m just a Black woman living life and that’s why I’m excited for Issa Rae’s new movie, The Photograph because I think it’s going to be just a day in the life. You know, I want to see Black women, just everyday Black women. I also really love Taraji’s What Women Want. I love those kinds of movies where it’s just like this just a story, that’s just how life is, it’s just a vibe. That’s something I’m very interested in giving especially to the millennial, young adult a generation. HB: You mentioned the sketches you do online earlier, and I’ve seen some on Instagram. It’s so unique because you only have a certain amount of time to convey your message so talk about why you’ve opened yourself to that lane as an actress? KP: [Social Media] is a very powerful tool because in this industry, especially knowing how it is with traditional talent, it’s kind of hard because there’s only so much you can do when it comes to people seeing you for a role. And, wanting to produce things takes a lot of time. When I produced Pimp, that took us almost six years. So social media is something that you can do quick and fast and you can create an avenue for yourself that maybe the industry doesn’t see for you and you can actually accumulate data and proof that it works and you can learn your audience and then it becomes easier when you go to knock down the door. A s a creative rebel was just saying that this is what I want to do. I had no platform to really do it other than this one so I’m going to do it. And at first, people didn’t know what was going on when I did, “The gag is!” or when I did, “Southern Belles.” It was something that they didn’t expect but it’s just me expressing myself, following my audience and just really trying to entertain and also have fun doing it. Complex is reporting that the all-star center recently copped a brand new Rolls Royce. Obviously it isn’t rare for NBA players to ball out with luxury vehicles he ordered his modern day chariot in purple. While the color in question could easily be perceived as an homage to his new Los Angeles Lakers team it is really a nod to Thanos. On a recent episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger he gave a tour of his 8.8 million dollar Atlanta estate. During a walk through of his garage he discussed the automobile and the inspiration behind it. “I got this purple car because of Thanos. He’s from Avengers and he’s my favorite character. He was able to understand that in order for him to complete his mission, he had to get rid of his emotions, and that’s the hardest thing that we all face” he explained. He further detailed his enthusiasm towards the character during a segment on FS1’s Fair Game with Kristine Leahy . He discussed how he had a rather big fanboy moment when he found himself on the plane with actor Josh Brolin. “I was sitting, like, two seats behind him, so I write him a letter, and I’m just telling him, ‘Thank you! Your character in this movie changed my life. Jenelle Evans is married to an admitted dog killer . Due to David Eason’s violent, disgusting actions, Jenelle and her husband lost custody of their children for about two months this spring and summer. But now little Kaiser and Ensley (along with 11-year old Maryssa) are back in the reality star’s custody — and it’s like nothing ever totally awful and disturving ever happened. At least in the eyes of Jenelle and David. Speaking to Us Weekly at the Jenelle Evans JE Cosmetics Launch on Monday, Evans addressed the temporary loss of her son and daughter, telling the tabloid: “It’s been very great because it’s really keeping us humble. “[It’s] been having us focus on just staying at home, focusing on making them happy, making sure that’s a No. 1 priority.” A very nice sentiment, we’d all agree. But will Evans and Eason really put these kids first? Truly raise them in a calm and safe environment for a change? Yes, Jenelle vows. “We want to make them happy,” Evans continued in this same interview , adding of her controversial makeup line: “In the background, I have a big support team that’s out here working for me behind the scenes, and a lot of people don’t see that. I have to be a mom and live in North Carolina, but behind the scenes I am doing a lot.” This marks the first real job Jenelle has had since she was fired by MTV for Eason’s aforementioned murder and the subsequent removal of her kids. Why anyone would take beauty advice from Jenelle Evans, well… that’s a different, confusing story. At some point. “Jace will remain with my mom, normal schedule every other weekend visits and two-week visits on school breaks,” she told Daily Champion in July. The North Carolina native went on to say that she wants to build a stronger relationship with Jace and earn full custody, but this may take some time. Yes, she might not be huge or whatever, but you know when a dog bites a child on the face more than one time, then it should never be around the child again. “If you give the dog up for adoption, one day it’s going to be around children again. “If you call the authorities at that point, the law says the dog has to be euthanized. News that “Amanda is doing great, working on herself, and taking some well-deserved time off to focus on her wellbeing after graduating FIDM in December.” Right before her graduation, Amanda graced the cover of Paper magazine, where she opened up about her past struggles with mental health and drugs . While most of us remember her as the charming, beautiful lead in some of the best early 00’s rom-coms like What a Girl Wants and She’s the Man (great movie don’t @ me) Amanda saw something else. At the time, she said watching herself play a boy in the popular soccer film sent her into a months-long depression. “When the movie came out and I saw it, I went into a deep depression for 4 to 6 months because I didn’t like how I looked when I was a boy,” she explained. Bynes also discussed her experience with smoking marijuana, along with taking other drugs, and how it changed her entire personality and outlook on life. “I was high on marijuana when I saw [ Easy A ], but for some reason, it really started to affect me,” she said. “I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things.” The Hairspray actress has been sober for four years now, and even though her road to recovery has taken some dark turns, fans are remaining optimistic.
