Lindsay Lohan Considers Celebrity Apprentice

Dina Lohan has confirmed that her daughter is seriously contemplating joining the next season of Celebrity Apprentice because “Donald [Trump] is a friend of the family.” According to the New York Post , Lindsay cannot commit until NBC agrees to shoot around the actress’s production schedule, which includes shooting the porn star biopic Inferno . Earlier this week, Linday’s father Michael Lohan hinted that he was also being courted for the series. [ NYP ]

Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman Film Staffs Up

The Les Grossman film that Tom Cruise had been promising is a go, according to a statement released by Paramount today; Ben Stiller will produce, while Scott Pilgrim vs. the World writer Michael Bacall will adapt. When Marc Webb was announced as the director shepherding the Spider-Man reboot, many fans hoped he would cast his 500 Days of Summer star Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the role of Peter Parker. Alas, the 29-year-old is a little too old for Sony’s high school hero, but according to our sister site Hollywood Life , Gordon-Levitt may get his chance to play a highly anticipated comic book character after all.

Dinner for Schmucks Makes a Later Reservation

The Paul Rudd/Steve Carell comedy Dinner for Schmucks has been pushed back from July 23 to July 30, where it’ll go up against Zac Efron’s Charlie St. Cloud . You may recall that the Vanessa Hudgens vehicle Beastly just moved out of that date so as not to pit the two lovebirds against each other. Why stop there? Efron should really get to work seducing Rudd in an effort to, uh, maximize his opening. (I’m sorry.) [ Deadline ]

The Muppets Nabs Christmas 2011 Date

Someone alert Joe Biden ! Disney announced a release date today for the big-screen kinda-reboot The Muppets : December 25, 2011. It’ll be directed by James Bobin from a script by Jason Segel and Nick Stoller, and though Segel will be in the cast, Charles Grodin definitely won’t be . Perhaps they could fill his absence with a role for noted Muppet-phile Lady Gaga ? [ Coming Soon ]

Voltron Movie Scrapped

Your Saturday-morning cartoon flashbacks suffered another blow this week as the long-planned Voltron: Defender of the Universe adaptation died in captivity. The animation reboot will instead be sold off to TV for parts — 26 parts, to be exact, airing next year on Nicktoons. This follows the reassignment of ThunderCats and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers projects from the big to small screens as well. Can’t anybody appreciate a sword-wielding robot made out of lion spaceships anymore? Sheesh. [ Variety via JoBlo ]

Did the Ray Romano series Men of a Certain Age prompt anyone else but me to ask, “Shouldn’t Tom Arnold be in this?” Well, that dream deferred is ostensibly occurring: Arnold is set to star in CMT’ s untitled David Litt comedy about a hardware store owner and family man who is a “salt-of-the-earth kind of guy, good-hearted, eager-to-please, optimistic, but sometimes overwhelmed by the chaos around him.” Sounds dependably Arnoldian from here.
