‘Three Stooges’ Trailer Delivers Slapstick And Snooki

Farrelly brothers bring the Stooges into present day but leave their classic comedy style intact. By Kara Warner Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos and Sean Hayes in “The Three Stooges” Photo: 20th Century Fox The Farrelly brothers have finally unleashed the first trailer for their “Three Stooges” movie, and if you’re a fan of Larry, Moe and Curly’s classic slapstick, consider it an early Christmas gift. The nearly two-minute spot opens at the Sisters of Mercy Orphanage, where a burlap sack containing the baby Stooges is dropped at the doorstep, complete with the first eye-poke gag. The rest of the trailer features a smorgasbord of classic “Three Stooges” quotes, gags and slapstick, with a couple of modern twists thrown in. There’s the familiar “spread out!” shout when the boys prep for a fight, Curly’s panting and dog barks when he spots a beautiful woman (one of whom is played by “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara) and their “Mind your P’s and Q’s” gag. There are lobsters stuck to faces and dropped in pants, plus countless objects thrown at our main characters. In one scene, the guys are introduced to the iPhone, which Curly puts up to his eye to try and blink-talk with someone. The final shot of the trailer features some very familiar faces: JWoww and Snooki from our very own “Jersey Shore.” “Hiya, Snook, I gotcha a present,” Larry says, holding out a cardboard box to an unsuspecting Snooki. “Go on, open it.” Snooki opens the top and a hand jumps out and pokes her in the eye. “Owww!” she yells, and the trailer fades to black. After years of false starts and attempts to reboot the classic eye-poking, head-bonking comedy franchise with stars such as Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey , the movie now is being headlined by the trio of Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamontopoulos. Although the film is not yet rated, when MTV News caught up with the Farrellys earlier this year, they promised to keep things PG. “The Stooges, by the way, are just naturally and organically PG,” Peter Farrelly said. “That’s what it is. We wouldn’t want it to be what it isn’t. It’s like ‘Napoleon Dynamite,’ as funny as that was, that was a PG movie, not PG-13. It’s just natural, and this is what the Stooges is. “They are Moe, Larry, Curly as you remember them,” he added when asked if the co-directors had plans to modernize the characters at all. “It’s not a biopic. It’s the episodes just as you saw but we rewrote, we have all new episodes. We have three episodes. Technically, each episode picks up where the last one left off. Each one begins with its own theme, so it’s about an hour and 25 minutes. Three episodes, fun, old-fashioned, but it takes place present-day, and they look, dress and sound like the Three Stooges.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Three Stooges.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Patricia Clarkson Talks Tammy One’s Scary ‘Parks And Rec’ Arrival

Ron Swanson’s cold-hearted ex-wife is #29 on MTV News’ Top 50 TV characters. By Jocelyn Vena Patricia Clarkson as Tammy One on “Parks and Recreation” Photo: NBC Before Patricia Clarkson ‘s arrival on “Parks and Recreation,” fans could only imagine what Ron Swanson’s chilling, manipulative ex-wife was like. The mere thought of Tammy One returning sends Ron running for cover. But over a two-episode arc, Clarkson perfectly embodied the role of Tammy One, giving a cold-hearted face to the show’s most-feared character. Tammy One’s arrival in Pawnee, Indiana, was bone-chilling and left fans crossing their fingers that Swanson would get out alive. That memorable introduction also helped her to place a solid #29 on MTV News’ list of Top 2011 TV Characters . We got on the phone with Clarkson on Tuesday, and she opened up about getting the chance to play the scariest woman in the “Parks and Rec” universe. MTV : What was your reaction when you first read this character? She’s the only person that seems to really get under Ron Swanson’s skin. It takes a lot to get under his skin. Jimmy Fallon, one Pretty Little Liar and more also make our TV Top 50! Patricia Clarkson : Oh, yes it does! Well when I first read it I thought, “Oh my.” You know I’m friends with Nick [Offerman] and Megan [Mullally] and they came to me urging me. And I thought, “Why do you think I’m this [character]? … First of all, let’s deal with that.” You know, I’m quite goofy, but I like doing characters that are a little bit of a stretch for me, and I do have a frightening aspect, and I think we all do as people. I think we can all summon the devils and the demons when we want. I am so thrilled I did this. MTV : We had heard a lot about Ron Swanson’s various Tammys, and you sort of embodied everything “Parks and Rec” fans had wanted to see for so long. Clarkson : The lore that this character carries, the backstory — that was also intimidating, very intimidating to walk into that situation. That also was what made me hesitant, but then I said, “What the hell?” It was beautifully written and funny and perfectly etched. And I do really believe that this is one of the greatest shows ever. I do think it’s an indelible cast of characters. It’s just a superb show. MTV : Are we going to see, maybe, the Tammys teaming up at all? Clarkson : We’re in the dark. Will Megan and I square off? … Will we all come back and have a weenie roast? I don’t know. First of all, the ceiling would have to be quite high, literally and figuratively. MTV : Have you heard if you’ll be back at all? Clarkson : I don’t know. I think they want the element of surprise, whether she does or doesn’t. It’s up to the writers and what they have in store for this season. We’ll see; it would be a blast. MTV will reveal the best artists, songs and movies of the year. Come to MTV News each day to see more big reveals and check out more of MTV’s Best of 2011 music, TV, movies and news coverage. Related Photos Best TV Characters 2011

Damon Lindelof Helps Write Sideways Universe Version of Sex and the City 2

Say what you will about Damon Lindelof, but the man has a knack for parodying bloated Hollywood excess. You’ll recall that last June Lindelof wrote a BP-themed sequel treatment for Esquire titled Armageddoner! , and now he’s back with an alternate version of Sex and the City 2 . Don’t worry, fans; this version doesn’t feature a big meeting of all Carrie’s ex-boyfriends in a church at some unknown time in the afterlife. It does feature a fatwa, though.
