A new documentary scheduled to premiere Wednesday on PBS explores how scientists collaborated to determine the identity of a Black woman buried at an excavation site in New York City, which was once a 19th-century burial ground for Black people. But he soon figured out that she had been born and buried decades before the Civil War. The excavation site was once the grounds for a church founded in 1830 by free African-Americans. Figuring out her identity involved the work of a geochemist who extracted chemicals from Peterson’s teeth and hair. That tests revealed that she lived in the Northeast and ate a balanced diet. An examination of her bone structure yielded an approximate age between 25 and 35. She likely died from smallpox, the team discovered. Census data enabled the team to find out her name, where she worked and other details. It turned out that Peterson was a domestic in the home of a man who was not only the coffin maker but also an abolitionist. Members of the nearby African Methodist Episcopal Church gave Peterson a proper burial. Actors Rebecca Hall and Timothée Chalamet, among others, have donated their proceeds from his upcoming movie, “A Rainy Day in New York” and others, including Mira Sorvino and Greta Gerwig, have renounced their previous work with Allen. His adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow appeared on CBS “This Morning” with Gayle King to talk about the sex abuse she allegedly suffered at his hands as a 7-year-old. “I loved my father. I respected him. He was my hero. And that doesn’t obviously take away from what he did,” Dylan Farrow began her harrowing retelling of the sexual abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of Woody Allen on “CBS This Morning” on Thursday. “But it does make the betrayal and the hurt that much more intense.” “I was taken to a small attic crawl space in my mother’s country house in Connecticut by my father. He instructed me to lay down on my stomach and play with my brother’s toy train that was set up,” she said in her first television interview, echoing the same account she gave in her 2014 New York Times op-ed. “And he sat behind me in the doorway, and as I played with the toy train, I was sexually assaulted. As a 7-year-old I would have said, ‘He touched my private parts.’ As a 32-year-old, he touched my labia and my vulva with his fingers.” Farrow also accused Allen of following her around, adding, “He was always touching me and cuddling me. So, to those of you who may have forgotten, Amber Frey was Scott Peterson’s mistress. She also testified against him in court. Even if you didn’t pay attention at the time of the trial or you were too young to have really been exposed to the coverage, you probably recognize Amber’s name. (And, not for nothing, but “Amber Frey” is one of the best names that we have ever heard, ever, in our lives. But maybe don’t go naming your kids that) It sounds like Amber might have never gotten the chance to testify if Scott Peterson hadn’t been apprehended while allegedly trying to flee south of the border. Scott Peterson looked completely different when he was captured. Law enforcement believed that he had disguised himself in order to flee to Mexico and avoid his trial. He didn’t make it, and now he sits on death row for the murder of Laci Peterson. Laci Peterson was 8 months pregnant. Their child would have been a son named Connor. His fetus was actually found before Laci’s body; investigators believe that the fetus had slipped out of her body while in the water. Laci’s body was also missing most or all of various limbs, along with her head. After such a massive search, it was a … grim find. You might wonder what Scott Peterson’s possible motive might have been. But you should remember that Scott Peterson had apparently claimed, weeks before his wife’s death, that he was a recent widower and that this Christmas would be his first without his wife. An absurd lie to tell, even if, at the time, he wasn’t planning Laci’s murder but simply trying to get a little sympathy. But after his wife’s death, one wonders if Scott ever thought about his past words and how they might be used against him. Unfortunately, we don’t know for certain why Scott Peterson might have had that map. We also don’t know even the exact cause of death behind Laci Peterson’s murder. Scott Peterson, despite everything, has maintained his innocence, even as he sits on death row, waiting for his lethal injection. Understandably, Scott would have little to gain from confessing now. The man who allegedly beat Minnesota Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son to death earlier this month has been charged with murder. Joseph Patterson faces one count of second degree murder and two counts of first degree manslaughter, as well as aggravated battery of an infant. He was also charged with felony child abuse in the death of the two-year-old. Patterson, who was dating the boy’s mother, was supposed to be caring for the child while she was away. It’s unclear why the alleged attack occurred. Second degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence in South Dakota. The tragic case came as a surprise for obvious reasons, but also for some of the details it unearthed about Peterson, the 28-year-old 2012 NFL MVP. He had never met the boy before he was in a coma after the alleged beating, although he recently was informed of and acknowledged he was the father. Bobby Ruffin, the man who raised the deceased boy, and whose last name he carries, and who believed he was the dad until recently, called out Peterson. More specifically, he said he was sick of the “poor AP” s–t following the tragedy, even though he is not in a relationship with the boy’s mother either.
